Colin Cowherd NFL Week 5 Blazin’ 5 Picks

Colin Cowherd provides his NFL Week 5 selections for Blazin’ 5 picks. While the last two weeks fell below expectations, he’s 11-9 on the year.

Colin Cowherd had a hot start to the 2022 NFL Season for his Blazin’ 5 picks, amassing a 7-3 record through the first two weeks. However, he failed to produce a winning record in Weeks 3 and 4, going 2-3 each week to bring his season record to 11-9.

On the contrary, Cowherd is seemingly flip-flopping with his view of the Philadelphia Eagles. Through two weeks, Cowherd said the Eagles looked better than any team in the NFL. Now that they are the only unbeaten team in the league, he seems less convinced.

What will Cowherd’s view of the Eagles be after their tilt in the desert this week against the Arizona CardinalsAnd will he be able to turn things back around for his weekly picks to maintain a winning record as we move deeper into October

Each Friday, Cowherd releases his picks at 1 p.m. ET on his show, The Herd, and we outline them below, along with his analysis. Will you be taking to PA sportsbooks for any of them?

“Winning record this year. Fire away!”

Detroit Lions at New England Patriots (-3.5)

Cowherd pick: Patriots

Final score prediction: Patriots 28, Lions 24

Cowherd said:

“Patriots -3.5, I think they win and cover. Bailey Zappe, first game, 10-for-15, passer rating of 107 on the road. Now, he comes home against a Detroit team that is not only the worst defense in the NFL, it is the worst defense by a mile. They’ve allowed 19 touchdowns this year. The next closest is 13.”

“Jared Goff has never won a road game with the Lions. They’re missing their top running back and star receiver. They are the worst defensive team in the league by a mile in the last three years. Patriots control the clock, run the ball, cover the spread. New England 28-24.”

Final Score: Patriots 29, Lions 0

Did Colin Cowherd Win? Yes

Los Angeles Chargers at Cleveland Browns (+2.5)

Cowherd pick: Browns

Final score prediction: Browns 28, Chargers 23

Cowherd said:

“I’m taking Cleveland at home +2.5 to win outright. Listen, the Browns are top 10 in rushing, scoring offense and total offense this year, and they’re not giving the ball up. No. 2 rushing team in the league. They’ve been fine offensively – they’ve actually been pretty good.”

“And the Chargers have the worst rushing offense in the league and one of the worst rushing defenses. They still miss their left tackle for the year [and] Keenan Allen. They’re not healthy. Cleveland’s gonna control the clock. Cleveland wins this game outright. Controls the game, controls the clock: 28-23.”

Final Score: Chargers 30, Browns 28

Did Colin Cowherd Win? Yes

Pittsburgh Steelers (+14) at Buffalo Bills

Cowherd pick: Steelers

Final score prediction: Bills 28, Steelers 17

Cowherd said:

“Steelers +14 is the side. Buffalo wins, but Mike Tomlin’s one of the great underdog coaches ever. They still have 10 sacks and 8 takeaways this year. The Steelers offense under Trubisky was a popgun offense, a water pistol. But Pickett, five drives, two touchdowns.”

“The Bills, though, are the story. Back-to-back tough, physical road games. At Miami, at the Ravens. They’re still banged up. They still give the ball away, seven times this year. And for the record, they’re not healthy in the secondary. They’re not healthy up front. Back-to-back road, tough, physical games. Fourteen points to a Mike Tomlin team, way too much. I’m gonna go with Steelers cover, Bills win 28-17.”

Final Score: Bills 38, Steelers 3

Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Rams (-5.5)

Cowherd pick: Rams

Final score prediction: Rams 28, Cowboys 20

Cowherd said:

“Rams -5.5. Went back and forth, I’m takin’ LA, here’s why. Sean McVay, like Beilichick, is a great win-after-losing coach. 18-7 after a loss. By the way, Stafford’s not great, but he’s completing 71% of his throws.”

“The Cowboys have six offensive touchdowns all year. That’s it. They’re not scoring. And you can run on this Cowboy team. The Rams lost, they were embarrassed, they’ll come back, they’ll play well, they’re at home. Cowboys don’t have enough smoke to win this thing on the road. Rams win it and cover, 28-20.”

Final Score: Cowboys 22, Rams 10

Did Colin Cowherd Win? No

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens (-3.5)

Cowherd pick: Ravens

Final score prediction: Ravens 30, Bengals 24

Cowherd said:

“Well, the Ravens have led for almost the entire season. They’ve trailed for nine minutes all year. They have the most takeaways in the year, and the Bengals, as you know, can give it up. They have the No. 3 scoring offense this season with Lamar Jackson. They’ve just lost a couple of close games late.”

“The Bengals aren’t able to run the ball, so they won’t be able to play keep-away from Lamar Jackson. Burrow’s also been sacked 16 times, second-most in the league. I think Cincinnati’s a good team, but Baltimore, I think, has a chance to be a great team this year. And they’ve led for all but nine minutes. And their losses are to Miami and Buffalo, pretty good teams. I think the Ravens win, I think they cover. I think it’s a fantastic game, probably the best game of the week. 30-24 Ravens.”

“So there you go, my Blazin’ 5.”

Final Score: Ravens 19, Bengals 17
