Did Colin Cowherd Win? He Broke Even And Got A Seahawks Push Instead Of A Painful Bad Beat

Colin Cowherd is backing the Giants, Bills and Bears and fading the Eagles in his Week 12 Blazin’ 5 Fox Bet picks, trying to rebound from a 1-4 week.

Maybe he’ll blaze his way to five wins by the end of the season.

In Week 11 and 12, Colin Cowherd has only picked three Blazin’ 5 winners. It’s been a rough two weeks for “The Herd’s,” host who has gone 3-6-1 over that span.

It could have been worse for Cowherd. He picked the Seattle Seahawks (-6). However, by Monday night, the number was -6.5 with about 90% of the public money backing the Seahawks to cover.

A Hail Mary in the final seconds and two-point conversion by the Philadelphia Eagles broke Seattle (-6.5) backers’ hearts and resulted in a 23-17 final score.

They weren’t included in his Blazin’ 5, but Cowherd, despite swearing off of them early in the season, can’t seem to quit the Atlanta Falcons.

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Buffalo Bills (-6)

Cowherd’s pick: Bills

Colin’s final score: Bills 31, Chargers 23

Cowherd said:

“This game, I would usually take the Chargers, because they play close games. But I’m going Buffalo. What are the Chargers playing for? I know Buffalo is playing for a home game and a division title. The Bills are off a bye and have won three of four. The Bills have lost three games — Titans, Chiefs and Cardinals. The Bills defense is the issue. They are getting better.”

Actual final score: Bills 27, Chargers 17

Did Colin win? Yes

New York Giants (-5.5)  vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Colin’s pick: Giants

Colin’s final score: Giants 28, Bengals 9

Cowherd said:

“Like the Giants, I love the Giants. Coming off a bye, I don’t think the market has caught up with the Giants yet. They are 4-0 ATS since Week Seven. They’ve scored 20+ points in six straight games. Their quarterback, Daniel Jones, has back-to-back games without a turnover and back-to-back road games with a 90+ passer rating. Yes, they miss Saquon Barkley. Yes, they need a high-end receiver. But the market hasn’t caught up to them. This is a really good football team, and they’re going to win this division. They’ll face Ryan Finley; he has three career starts, and his passer rating is 62.1. Giants dominate.”

Actual final score: Giants 19, Bengals 17

Did Colin win? No

Tennessee Titans (+4)  vs. Indianapolis Colts

BOOM BET: If Derrick Henry has 100+ rush yards and scores a TD, you can 4X your money.

Colin’s pick: Titans

Colin’s final score: Titans 27, Colts 23

Cowherd said:

“I love Tennessee. The Colts are a good team, and they just beat a very popular team in Green Bay. So now their line is overvalued. Tennessee getting +4 at Indy is the play here. First of all, the Titans are a good road team. They’ve won six out of their last seven road games in the regular season. They’re also a really smartly coached team.

“The Titans have five giveaways this year. It’s the fewest in the NFL. It’s very New England with Vrabel. They don’t give you the ball. Here are two things that always travel well: good coaching and running games. Derrick Henry has seven straight road games with 100+ yards rushing. So I get a great road team, I get a great running team, I get a well-coached team, and I think the Colts are a little overvalued because they beat a wildly popular Green Bay team last week.”

Actual final score: Titans 45, Colts 26

Did Colin win? Yes

Chicago Bears (+9.5) vs. Green Bay Packers

Colin’s pick: Bears

Colin’s final score: “Packers probably win by a touchdown.”

Cowherd said:

“Listen, their offense is pathetic, so it’s not my favorite pick of the week, but here’s the thing I know about the Bears: They’ve only allowed 12 passing touchdowns all year, and only the Rams have allowed fewer. Their defense is the best in the league on third down, and their defense has not allowed a single quarterback to throw for over 300 yards this year. But here’s what worries me about Green Bay, and I do think they’ll win this game: They have the worst red zone defense in the league. Do you know that Aaron Jones has rushed for just 50 yards a game since Week Three? I don’t like what I see out of the Packers’ lines right now — offensively or defensively. I think they’re very Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams dependent. This number for a division rivalry game is huge.”

Actual final score: Packers 41, Bears 25

Did Colin win? No

Seattle Seahawks (-6) vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Colin’s pick: Seahawks

Colin’s final score: Seahawks 32, Eagles 22

Cowherd said:

“Seattle -6 is the play here. First of all, Seattle has extra prep time playing on a Thursday, and now they don’t have to play until a Monday. Here is the story of the game, though. We all lament Seattle’s pass rush, but since Carlos Dunlap joined the team from the Bengals and Jamal Adams returned from injury since Week Nine, the Seahawks defense is tied for the NFL lead in sacks. Uh oh, they solved their dilemma. Keep an eye out on LJ Collier. First-round pick from two years ago. Played his best game of the year against Arizona.

“Seattle may have solved their big hole — pass rush. What will that also do? Solve their second biggest issue — their secondary. I think Seattle is the team with the most to grow at this point in the season. By the way, Carson Wentz is 0-4 against Seattle, playing like crap, and I think they’ll feel a lot of pressure at home in the Monday Night game to play well. Seattle under Pete Carroll has been a great East Coast road team. Take out the Buffalo loss, and they’ve won 10 straight.”

Actual final score: Seahawks 23, Eagles 17

Did Colin Cowherd Win? Most Blazin’ 5 Picks Turn Out To Be Turkeys in Week 11

Colin Cowherd went a lousy 1-4 in his Week 11 Blazin’ 5 picks as his bird picks — the Eagles and Falcons — both turned out to be fowls.

After a 4-1 Week 10, Colin Cowherd warned that Week 11 was a “speed trap.”

His Blazin’ 5 picks deserve some sort of slap-on-the-wrist citation, since he only predicted one winner.

Cowherd swore off picking the Atlanta Falcons early in the season but chose them to cover (+4.5) against the New Orleans Saints. Also, he ripped the imploding Philadelphia Eagles but still saw them not only covering (+3.5) but winning outright. Picking both bird-named teams turned out to be a fowl.

Let’s hope he doesn’t burn his turkey as badly as his picks burned him.

Cowherd says Eagles are imploding

On Thursday, Colin Cowherd said “Philadelphia is imploding” amid multiple reports that the practices are “lousy.” He then ripped the Eagles for partying for a whole year after their Super Bowl win.

Listen, Colin. Boston has won a lot more titles than Philadelphia. We’ve been waiting a lifetime for it. If you ask anyone in the Philadelphia area about Super Bowl LII, they will say, “Aside from my wedding and the birth of my kids, this was the best moment of my life.”

Colin Cowherd’s 2020 Week 11 NFL picks

Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 airs Friday on “The Herd” at 1 p.m. EST. We break down his picks for you here and follow up on Monday with his results.

If Fox Bet Sportsbook users wager on Cowherd’s “Boom Bet” and it wins, they usually quadruple their winnings.

Atlanta Falcons (+4.5) vs. New Orleans Saints

Cowherd’s pick: Falcons

Colin’s final score: Falcons 28, Saints 27

Cowherd said:

“The number is changing rapidly. Now I think the Saints with Taysom Hill are kind of experimenting at quarterback. I do not like that. The Falcons are coming off a bye. Raheem Morris isn’t only 3-1, he’s trying to win the head coaching job. In this division, he thinks he can get to a wild card spot. Atlanta since Week Six can move the ball. They have also allowed fewer than 30 ppg in five straight games. I’m going to take the Falcons with the upset win.”

Actual final score: Saints 24, Falcons 9

Did Colin win? No

Philadelphia Eagles (+3.5) vs. Cleveland Browns

Colin’s pick: Eagles

Colin’s final score: Eagles 24, Browns 20

Cowherd said:

“Like it, I love it. Philadelphia is absolutely the play here. Philadelphia’s head coach, their quarterback and their practice habits are all under question. They are getting pulverized. They lost to the Giants, but they didn’t commit a turnover, and their defense is way better than Cleveland. The Browns have scored 10 or fewer points in four games this year; only the Jets have fewer. Cleveland struggles when they face better defensive lines because Baker struggles under pressure.

*Last week, Colin correctly predicted a Giants (+3.5) upset over the Eagles.

Actual final score: Browns 22, Eagles 17

Did Colin win? No

Green Bay Packers vs. Indianapolis Colts (-2.5)

Colin’s pick: Colts

Colin’s final score: Colts 24, Packers 20

Cowherd said:

“Wise guys are split on this, but I get the Colts, who have extra prep time. The Packers defense has only created seven turnovers this year, the second fewest. Phillip Rivers is comfortable. He’s been sacked only eight times this year, the fewest in the league. The Colts defense will not make life comfortable for Aaron Rodgers. They are No. 1 in YPG allowed (290.4) and No. 1 OPP passer rating (78.9). Look at the numbers for Rivers. He’s not getting hit, he’s not getting rushed, he’s got a running game, the Packers don’t take the ball away.”

Actual final score: Colts 34, Packers 31

Did Colin win? Yes

Kansas City Chiefs (-8.5) vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Colin’s pick: Chiefs

Colin’s final score: Chiefs 36, Raiders 26

Cowherd said:

“Loved this number on Monday. It was Kansas City -6.5. I will still take it at -8.5. Andy Reid is 18-3 off a bye; it’s the best in the NFL by far. I get a team off a bye that got beat against the Raiders. The Raiders defense is below average. They have only sacked the QB 11 times this year. They have no pass rush. I get a healthy, well-coached team with extra time. There is a major COVID issue with the Raiders for the second time this year. It was my favorite play of the week on Monday.

Actual final score: Chiefs 35, Raiders 31

Did Colin win? No

Los Angeles Rams vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-4.5)

BOOM BET: Brady to throw for three+ TDs and Bucs win

Colin’s pick: Buccaneers

Colin’s final score: Buccaneers 28, Rams 23

Cowherd said:

“The number was better early in the week. I bet seven Rams games this year, and I’m 6-1. It’s the team I feel best about. When Jared Goff is uncomfortable, he’s not the same quarterback: 4-0 at home, only 2-3 on the road. Andrew Whitworth is on the IR. Watch out, because this Bucs defense has the second most sacks, and this Bucs defense will force Goff to throw with a backup left tackle. If the Saints lose on Sunday, the Bucs watch that game and have extra motivation on Monday to win and make up a game, as Drew Brees is out.”

Actual final score: Rams 27, Buccaneers 24

Did Colin Cowherd Win? Bad Week For Brady, Favorites and Most of Colin’s Picks

Colin Cowherd backed the favorites in his Week Nine Blazin’ 5 NFL picks, but Russell Wilson, Tom Brady, Kyler Murray and Washington all let him down.

It was a rough Week Nine for Colin Cowherd and Tom Brady.

After two winning weeks, Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 picks went an awful 1-4. His “Boom Bet,” which would have tripled Fox Bet sportsbook app users’ money, proved to be an early bust.

Cowherd picked Brady to throw for more yards than Drew Brees and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to win their Sunday Night matchup with the New Orleans Saints. Brady threw three picks and suffered a 38-3 drubbing, one of the worst losses of his career.

No dancing Cowherd

Last week on “The Herd,” Cowherd said he was “turned off” by Denver quarterback Drew Lock’s game-winning celebration dance after the Broncos’ 31-30 comeback win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

“We have a new cool guy,” he said on “The Herd” on Friday. “He’s too silly, too showboaty, too cool like Manziel, Baker, Cam and Jameis Winston. I was right about them. Four-for-four about to be five-for-five. I’m not into Drew Lock. Win more games, Cub Scout.”

Although he didn’t include the Broncos in his Week Nine Blazin’ 5 picks, he made a bet with Lock.

“All I’m going to ask you this week is to beat crappy Atlanta. If you beat Atlanta, crappy Atlanta … dancing is allowed for the rest of the season with no criticism.”

Co-host Joy Taylor said she thought Cowherd was going to offer to dance.

“And I will dance a little on Monday if you win,” Cowherd said about Lock.

The Falcons beat the Broncos 34-27. Cowherd doesn’t have to dance for Lock, but he did recently join Tik Tok, so it doesn’t mean he won’t pull out some moves.

Colin Cowherd 2020 Week Nine NFL picks

If Fox Bet Sportsbook users wager on Cowherd’s “Boom Bet” and it wins, they usually quadruple their winnings.

“We are very very hot right now,” said Cowherd, who went 4-1 last week.

“I don’t think I’ve ever taken five favorites,” he said after giving out his Week Nine Blazin’ 5 picks. “It’s a different year. Different stuff is happening. and I really like the favorites this week. Some of them are ugly favorites. Washington is hard to stomach, but the Giants are on a short week.”

Seattle Seahawks (-3) vs. Buffalo Bills

Cowherd’s pick: Seahawks

Colin’s final score: Seahawks 33, Bills 26

Cowherd said:

“Don’t worry about the East Coast. Seattle is on a 10-game winning streak in the Eastern Time Zone. Russell Wilson is the best player on the planet. Josh Allen has not played well for a couple of weeks (four TDs, five turnovers in the last four games). The Bills defense is not good enough to beat good teams right now. They beat one good team all year, the Raiders. The Rams don’t count; they got an officiating break on one of the last calls of the game. They are the third team in NFL history to be 6-2 and have a negative point differential. Little bit of fools gold.”

Actual final score: Bills 44, Seahawks 34

Did Colin win? No

Baltimore Ravens (-2.5) vs. Indianapolis Colts

Colin’s pick: Ravens

Colin’s final score: Ravens 27, Colts 20

Cowherd said:

“The Ravens have a huge advantage at quarterback. When you have Lamar Jackson, you can roll the pocket, quarterback draws, throw it downfield. The last couple years, he’s been good on the road. Let’s not freak out. They had 460 total yards against the Steelers. He made mistakes, and he has regressed, but you can do things with Lamar Jackson you can’t do with Phillip Rivers. I have questions about the Colts; think they have a low ceiling. I don’t trust them, and their defense is very reliant on Darius Leonard.”

Actual final score: Ravens 24, Colts 10

Did Colin win? Yes

New York Giants vs. Washington (-3)

Colin’s pick: Washington

Colin’s final score: Washington 24, Giants 17

Cowherd said:

“Washington is off a bye, and the Giants are coming off a short week. You know I always love that. The Giants are coming off an emotional last play of the game loss. Washington’s defense is fantastic, and we knew it would be. Daniel Jones has 36 turnovers the last two years, the most in the NFL. I think it comes down to an ugly, choppy game. Kyle Allen won’t turn it over, and I believe Daniel Jones will.”

Actual final score: Giants 23, Washington 20

Did Colin win? No

Miami Dolphins vs. Arizona Cardinals (-4.5)

Colin’s pick: Cardinals

Colin’s final score: Cardinals 30, Dolphins 22

Cowherd said:

“Like Arizona, I love Arizona. They are off a bye. Miami, 3,000-mile flight cross-country. Tua last week was at home with two weeks to prepare and was very comfortable. Now he is going to be in a shootout. Arizona off a bye is going to put a lot of points up. Their offense is first in total yards per game, rush ypg and second in rushing TDs. The Dolphins had 154 total yards last week. I think this comes down to Arizona rested, healthier and Tua forced to play at a higher rate.”

Actual final score: Dolphins 34, Cardinals 31

Did Colin win? No

New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-5.5)

BOOM BET: Triple your money if Tom Brady has more passing yards than Drew Brees in a Tampa Bay win.

Colin’s pick: Buccaneers

Colin’s final score: Buccaneers 30, Saints 21

Cowherd said:

“Really like Tom Brady and the Bucs here. Why were they so flat on Monday Night Football? They were looking ahead. Brady and Brees — the difference is one of them is really good right now. The Bucs have the best point differential in the NFL and the best turnover differential since losing to the Saints in Week One. Take the first game out. The Tampa defense is number one in the NFL. They also have the ability with A.B. to throw in the slot, up the sidelines. Right now Tampa is an offense with no limitations. Brees missed practice yesterday and is banged up.”

Actual final score: Saints 38, Buccaneers 3

Did Colin Cowherd Win? We’re Shook: TikTok’s Newest Member’s Picks Are Near Perfect

Colin Cowherd went 4-1 in his Blazin’ 5 Week Eight picks, with the underdog Dolphins and Broncos both coming in to make his Fox Bet Boom Bet a winner.

Of the WTFs in 2020, Colin Cowherd joining TikTok falls somewhere below murder hornets but above the “Is it a cake?” challenge.

His Boom Bet turned out to be a winner, too. Fox Bet sportsbook app users were able to make 7X their money, since the Dolphins and Broncos both won.

Los Angeles Rams vs. Miami Dolphins (+4)

Cowherd’s pick: Dolphins

Colin’s final score: Dolphins 27, Rams 26

Cowherd said:

“The Dolphins are in a great spot here. I think it’s gonna be an ugly game. The Rams, on a short week, have to fly east and play an early game. The Dolphins are well-coached, and they are coming off a bye. Miami is going to be limited with Tua, but they know what he can do. The Rams don’t even have tape to look at; they have to look at Alabama tape. The Dolphins defense has allowed 8.5 ppg the past two weeks. Upset. Tua wins but won’t be the story. The Rams playing poorly will be the story.”

Actual final score: Dolphins 28, Rams 17

Did Colin win? Yes

Tennessee Titans (-6.5) vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Colin’s pick: Titans

Colin’s final score: Titans 38, Bengals 24

Cowherd said:

“The Bengals have some injuries this week and are kind of falling apart. A week ago, we thought Tennessee may be the best team in the league. Because they lost to the Steelers, they aren’t at least a touchdown better than Cincinnati? The Titans are the fourth-highest-scoring team in the league. Ryan Tannehill leads in passer rating. The Bengals defense is bad, getting worse and injured. I think the Titans win going away.”

Actual final score: Bengals 31, Titans 20

Did Colin win? No

Indianapolis Colts (-3) vs. Detroit Lions

Colin’s pick: Colts

Colin’s final score: Colts 27, Lions 20

Cowherd said:

“We like really good coaches off a bye. Frank Reich, twice in his career off a bye, is 2-0 and gets a Detroit team that got outplayed most of the game by Atlanta. The Colts have allowed six sacks all year. They run the ball and protect the quarterback. Their defense is excellent. Detroit’s lost six straight home games, and they are really bad against the run. That’s what the Colts want to do this weekend. I think this is a fairly low-scoring game.”

Actual final score: Colts 41, Lions 21

Did Colin win? Yes

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Denver Broncos (+3.5)

Colin’s pick: Broncos

Colin’s final score: Broncos 28, Chargers 27

Cowherd said:

“It’s the hook. Justin Herbert is really talented, but he has never played in that altitude. Vic Fangio is one of the best defensive minds, and Denver has got all sorts of talent. It feels like the season for the Broncos. Their defense since Week Four has been really good, top five in everything. The Chargers wins are over the Bengals and Jags. I like Herbert a lot, but this is a rookie quarterback without a preseason, a handful of starts, playing against a very good defense.”

Actual final score: Broncos 31, Chargers 30

Did Colin win? Yes

San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks (-3)

Colin’s pick: Seahawks

Colin’s final score: Seahawks 28, 49ers 21

Cowherd said:

“I’m from Seattle and rarely pick Seattle to win. Jamal Adams comes back, and that’s really good for Seattle. The Niners are falling apart. Seattle’s offense is as good as it’s ever been. The offensive line is much better than people thought. Seattle does not want to lose two in a row in this division. I think they come back and play one of their games of the year.”

Did Colin Cowherd Win? He’s Back In The Win Column, But Boom Bet Fizzles Again

Colin Cowherd is over the underdogs in Week Seven, putting four of his five Blazin’ 5 NFL picks on favorites to cover and the Steelers to upset the Titans.

Is Colin Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 heating up?

He posted his first winning record since Week Three.

Cowherd rode the favorites and the unbeaten Pittsburgh Steelers to a 3-2 Week Seven record. His “Boom Bet” fell short when the Arizona Cardinals upset the Seattle Seahawks in overtime.

When he made the picks, Cowherd said:

“I am generally not someone who takes favorites, but the league is changing and there is more offense. Gotta move around. The Rams pick, most of the wise guys in Vegas probably hate it, but I think Chicago lacks juice.”

His prognostication proved to be correct as the Chicago Bears fell flat on Monday Night Football.

Green Bay Packers (-3.5) vs. Houston Texans

Cowherd’s pick: Packers

Colin’s final score: Packers 40, Texans 23

Cowherd said:

“Favorite pick of the week. I like good teams who get humiliated on national TV games. They are focused, and they’ll play great this week. The Packers have two turnovers all year, both against Tampa’s defense. The Texans’ defense is horrific. They’ve given up more big plays than any NFL defense this year. Packers hammer the Texans. “

Actual final score: Packers 35, Texans 20

Did Colin win? Yes

Pittsburgh Steelers (+2) vs. Tennessee Titans

Colin’s pick: Steelers

Colin’s final score: Steelers 28, Titans 23

Cowherd said:

“I have a rule: Take a really good team getting points. I’m taking the Steelers to win. The Titans have two big issues. Their left tackle Taylor Lewan is out, and you do not want to be missing a Pro Bowl-level left tackle against the Steelers. The Titans are last in the NFL on third down defense. They don’t have a pass rush and teams extend drives. Big Ben is having an extraordinary season — his best completion percentage, passer rating and touchdown to INT ratio.”

Actual final score: Steelers 27, Titans 24

Did Colin win? Yes

Carolina Panthers vs. New Orleans Saints (-7.5)

Colin’s pick: Saints

Colin’s final score: Saints 30, Panthers 23

Cowherd said:

“That’s a hook number. Everybody usually likes the team getting 7.5. I like veteran quarterbacks and great coaches off a bye. They are 3-1 in those games. Drew Brees is completing 71% of this throws and leads the NFL. Carolina’s defense has five sacks, fewest in the NFL. The Saints have a had a couple of weeks to prepare for Teddy Bridgewater, a quarterback they practiced against for years. Carolina is getting better but is limited defensively.”

Actual final score: Saints 27, Panthers 24

Seattle Seahawks (-3.5) vs. Arizona Cardinals

Boom Bet: $20 bet pays $50 — Russell Wilson has two or more passing TDs and Seahawks to win

Colin’s pick: Seahawks

Colin’s final score: Seahawks 34, Cardinals 24

Cowherd said:

“Seattle off a bye is 4-0. Arizona, a young inconsistent team, is on a short week. A young team who beat the Dallas Cowboys everyone is telling ‘You the man!’ Russell Wilson has owned no team in the NFL like Arizona. He’s played them eight times and only lost once, and it was his first NFL start.”

Actual final score: Cardinals 37, Seahawks 34

Did Colin win? No

Chicago Bears vs. Los Angeles Rams (-6)

Colin’s pick: Rams

Colin’s final score: Rams 28, Bears 20

Cowherd said:

“I’m the last living American who likes the Rams. Chicago is limited offensively. We thought when they got Nick Foles they would be better. The problem is he’s has one or more interception in five straight games. That’s the longest stretch in the NFL. The Bears’ offense is 27th in PPG and 28th in total YPG, yards per play and rush YPG. The Rams’ defense is better than people think. They’ve moved Jalen Ramsey all over the field. I know no one likes Jared Goff, but he has the highest passer rating of anyone in the fourth quarter. I think it’s a close, ugly game.”

Actual final score: Rams 24, Bears 10

Did Colin Cowherd Win? Picks Fall Flat Again With Broncos Upset, Eagles Rally and Buccaneers Rout

The Pittsburgh Steelers and SF 49ers were the lone bright spots for Colin Cowherd in his Week Six Blazin’ 5 picks, and one was his Boom Bet at Fox Bet.

Colin Cowherd said it was a weekend of clarity in the NFL. What seems clear so far with his Blazin 5′ picks is that they are unreliable. He followed up an awful 1-4 Week Five with a subpar 2-3 Week Six.

“Coming off a crappy week, it’s time to get my act together,” Cowherd said before revealing his Week Six picks.

Maybe next time, Colin.

Hot takes from Colin Cowherd this week

Maybe Tom Brady wasn’t in the mood to shake Nick Foles’ hand. No big deal.

Carson Wentz and Travis Fulgham, you’ve been warned.

Justin Herbert is the next star quarterback in the NFL.

The Bills offense is so much fun.

Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (-4)

BOOM BET: Steelers beat the Browns and Roethlisberger throws for 300 yards boosted from (+240) to +300.

Cowherd’s pick: Steelers

Colin’s final score: Steelers 28, Browns 21

Cowherd said:

“Baker Mayfield is not 100%, and that leads me to believe they will keep him out of the crosshairs and have a conservative game plan. Big Ben has owned the Browns. His career at home versus Cleveland, he’s 11-0 with a 103.5 passer rating. The Steelers lead the NFL with 20 sacks and 70 pressures. Their rush defense is great and will force Baker to play fast, and he doesn’t play well fast. “

Actual final score: Steelers 38, Browns 7

Did Colin win? Yes (but Roethlisberger did not throw for 300 yards). So the Boom Bet was a bust.

Denver Broncos vs. New England Patriots (-9.5)

Colin’s pick: Patriots

Colin’s final score: Patriots 32, Broncos 16

Cowherd said:

“Like New England, I love New England. Don’t fight it, young quarterbacks get annihilated by Belichick. Patrick Mahomes struggled with him. Drew Lock is not 100%, and he is going to struggle. Denver is awful at Foxboro. The Patriots average 39 points a game and are 5-0 since 2008, with a massive turnover differential. I love New England in a blowout.”

Actual final score: Broncos 18, Patriots 12

Did Colin win? No

Baltimore Ravens (-7.5) vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Colin’s pick: Ravens

Colin’s final score: Ravens 33, Eagles 23

Cowherd said:

“Baltimore is not as dynamic offensively as last year. But their defense has been great at creating turnovers (second in NFL). They are top 5 in sacks. Lane Johnson missed this week. The Eagles continue to struggle with help at o-line and wide receivers. The Ravens have won 13 games by 14 or more since the start of last season; don’t sell all your stock. The Eagles are feisty but remain turnover plagued on offense. John Harbaugh wants to get this offense back. If he leads, he will pile it on.”

Actual final score: Ravens 30, Eagles 28

Did Colin win? No

Green Bay Packers (-1) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Colin’s pick: Packers

Colin’s final score: Packers 27, Buccaneers 24

Cowherd said:

“I know a lot of wise guys like the Buccaneers, but I’ll take Green Bay. The Packers do multiple things, but one thing very well. You can’t get to Aaron Rodgers, and they get to your quarterback. He will be the more comfortable quarterback. The Packers are the most explosive offense yards per play in the league. Davante Adams is back. I still think this is an offense in Tampa that is growing, with Godwin and Evans still not 100%.”

Actual final score: Buccaneers 38, Packers 10

Did Colin win? No

Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers (+3.5)

Colin’s pick: 49ers

Colin’s final score: 49ers 26, Rams 24

Cowherd said:

“What do I always say? Bet a well-coached team that was humiliated the week before. This division is the best in football. This is the season for the Niners. If they don’t win this weekend, they are in an uphill battle for a wild card spot. Their defense is still playing good football despite what you saw last week. They are top 5 in total YPG and pass TD allowed. They still run the football well, they are still well-coached, they still play really good defense. The Rams are a good football team, but the urgency here is on the Niners. It’s the game of the season and they have to win. I’m calling an upset.”

Actual final score: 49ers 24, Rams 16

Did Colin win? Yes

Did Colin Cowherd Win? Blazin’ 5 Picks He Loves Turn Out to Be Duds in Week 4

Colin Cowherd whiffed most of his NFL Week Four Blazin’ 5 picks, with only the Bills coming through, but he’s still hitting around .500 so far this season.

Colin Cowherd’s Week Four Blazin 5′ picks were an ice-cold 1-3-1.

After going 4-1 last week, Cowherd said on Friday before making this week’s selections:

“I’ve always been very altruistic. I like to make America money. Daddy buy new kicks is the whole thing.”

Those who chose to follow Cowherd’s picks this week don’t even have enough for socks.

His “Boom Bet,” which allows Fox Bet users to quadruple their winnings, didn’t even win, let alone cover (Cowboys -5). Another pick he loved, the Bears +2.5, proved to be toothless. The Dolphins +6 were his “favorite pick of the week,” and they lost to the Seahawks 31-23.

Not sure what all these qualifiers mean, since Cowherd starts out almost every Blazin’ 5 segment on “The Herd” with “I love all my picks.”

The QB and the hat(e)

After a hoopla over calling out Carson Wentz for wearing his hat backward during a news conference last week, Cowherd predicted a Bengals upset.

“Carson Wentz has been all over the board in the last six games — eight sacks, four picks this year, both tied for the most of any quarterback. I don’t know if Philadelphia’s locker room is good.”

Wentz threw two interceptions and the Eagles tied the Bengals, 23-23. During his conference this week, Wentz turned his cap forward, and of course, Cowherd pointed it out, saying, “It’s almost like we have influence in America.”

Hot take from Colin Cowherd this week

The top three teams look very familiar. Where have we seen them before? Oh, yes. Before the season started at FanDuel (and most online sportsbooks), they were the top 3 three teams by handle in the Super Bowl futures market.

Colin Cowherd’s 2020 Week 4 NFL picks

Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 airs on “The Herd” on Fridays at around 1 p.m. EST. We break down his picks for you here and follow up on Monday with his results.

“Something is happening in the NFL you have to keep your eye on. Everyone is going over. The overs and the favorites are covering. A lot of this is because there was no preseason. It’s easy for quarterbacks in July and August to call up their wide receivers to throw the ball around. You don’t call a middle linebacker about dropping into coverages. The offensives are way ahead of the defenses. I think they will be for about one more week.”

The first three weeks of the season, we pointed out Cowherd never mentioned his “Boom Bet” on his Blazin’ 5 segment on the air, and you had to go to Fox Bet‘s social channels to find out. This week,  he closed his segment by telling listeners to go there to find out more on his picks.

If Fox Bet users wager on Cowherd’s “Boom Bet” and it wins, they can quadruple their winnings.

Cleveland Browns vs. Dallas Cowboys (-5.5)

Cowherd’s BOOM BET

Cowherd’s pick: Cowboys

Colin’s final score: Cowboys 33, Browns 26

Cowherd said:

“Dak Prescott against really good competition has always been a good quarterback. His QB rating since last year is 108.8, and their offense right now is No. 1 in the league. But this is about the Browns defense that has allowed 7 TDs passing of 10+ air yards this year, most in the NFL. I think there is a lot of points in this game, and I don’t think Cleveland can keep up, because they are more of a running team. Cleveland’s back end worries me. They beat Cincinnati with a rookie quarterback and Washington with kind of a rookie quarterback. How good are they?”

Actual final score: Browns 49, Cowboys 38

Did Colin win? No

Indianapolis Colts vs. Chicago Bears (+2.5)

Colin’s pick: Bears

Colin’s final score: Bears 24, Colts 23

Cowherd said:

“Like it, I love it. Bears getting points at home. I think they are a better team, and I think Matt Nagy wanted to start Nick Foles three weeks ago but the GM wouldn’t let him. Nick Foles lets it rip, big arm, big games. This is the coach’s kid, and he went out and got him in the offseason. How good are the Colts? They lost to the Jaguars and beat the crappy Vikings and the really crappy Jets. The Bears defense is No. 2 in the league in getting offenses off the field on third down.”

Actual final score: Colts 19, Bears 11

Did Colin win? No

Seattle Seahawks vs. Miami Dolphins (+6)

Colin’s pick: Dolphins

Colin’s final score: Seahawks 27, Dolphins 26

Cowherd said:

“Favorite pick of the week. Miami gets three days of extra prep time because they were on Thursday Night Football. That is huge, because they have a very good coaching staff and staffs that are good take advantage of it. Seattle has the furthest trip you can make after dramatic wins. Fitzpatrick is very good when he’s comfortable, and Seattle makes every quarterback comfortable, because they have no pass rush. The Dolphins are playing clean football. They are one of two teams that have not had a turnover in two weeks. I think Russell Wilson may come in and save the day late.”

FYI, Colin is fading the public here big time. At DraftKings, 95% of the handle is going to the Seahawks to cover the spread.

Actual final score: Seahawks 31, Dolphins 23

Did Colin win? No

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-7)

Colin’s pick: Buccaneers

Colin’s final score: Buccaneers 33, Chargers 23

Cowherd said:

“This is a lot of points. I’ll take Tom Brady and the Bucs. This game is about comfort vs. discomfort, Tom Brady vs. a Chargers defense without an injured Derwin James. Justin Herbert will face a pass rush, and you can’t run on the Bucs D. They are No. 2 for yards per play. Herbert has struggled in the red zone, and the Chargers have settled for field goals. He’ll be uncomfortable all day. I believe Todd Bowles is the best current coordinator in the NFL and Tampa has the best or second-best linebacking corps. It’s the defense of Tampa that will decide the game.”

Actual final score: Buccaneers 38, Chargers 31

Did Colin win? Push

Buffalo Bills (-3) vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Colin’s pick: Bills

Colin’s final score: Bills 32, Raiders 27

Cowherd said:

“This is an easy one. There is no home field anymore, so it’s basically a neutral field. I get the better quarterback, coach and defense. There are a lot of people who think Buffalo is a top four team in this league. A lot of coaches are really on Buffalo. They rank second in pass ypg and third is points per game the last two seasons. This Buffalo team will force the Raiders to play real defense because they press the ball down the field.”

*Colin bet against the Bills during Weeks One and Two. He quickly changed his tune on Josh Allen and the Bills and backed them with his Boom Bet.

Actual final score: Bills 30, Raiders 23

Did Colin win? Yes

Blazin’ 5 Week 1 record: 1-3-1

Did Colin Cowherd Win? Week 3 a Scorching 4-1 as Bills Come Through for Boom Bet, Bengals Cover With Tie

Colin Cowherd loved his NFL Week 3 picks, and he went 4-1, cashing in on a Bengals tie vs. the Eagles and on the Buffalo Bills, who hung on to win by 3.

If you think Colin Cowherd is an insufferable blowhard, this might not be the best week to tune into The Herd. Cowherd had a scorching week of Blazin’ 5 picks, going 4-1.

His “Boom Bet” (Bills -2.5), which Fox Bet online sportsbook boosts at 4X odds, hit for the second straight week. He called for the Bengals (+5) to upset the Eagles, and the game ended in a tie.

Cowherd’s hat-backward hating of Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz might be a silly thing to call out a pro athlete for, but he also ripped the quarterback’s poor play this season. Wentz only gave his doubters more fuel with a two-interception performance where he looked like he had lost all confidence and was outplayed by Bengals rookie Joe Burrow.

How often does Colin post a Blazin’ 5 4-win week? In 2019, it happened five times. However, his overall record through the course of a 17-week season was 42-41-3. So yes, he had four 1-4 weeks and one awful no-win Week 17 that contributed to the final tally.

Cowherd calls out Wentz’s play and headwear

Through two weeks, Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 picks are a tepid 4-6.

But Cowherd was fired up about Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz and his choice of headwear. Cowherd believes that as a franchise quarterback during a weekly press conference in front of the team and corporate logos, Wentz should not wear his hat backward.

Most of Twitter panned Cowherd’s take and posted pictures of other athletes, like Tom Brady, Russell Wilson and Ken Griffey Jr., wearing a backward hat.

On Friday, Cowherd said, dripping with sarcasm, “Fans ripped me. It was very hurtful. I didn’t sleep last night. I barely closed my eyes.”

He then doubled down.

“I believe in life that time, place, location and assignment matter. If you want to wear your hat on backwards in your yard, I don’t care. If you are a quarterback and you have your once-a-week podium discussion, and the Philadelphia Eagles are brilliantly owned, respectfully built … and you’re telling me this (turns hat backward) … is no different for a face of the franchise than this (turns hat forward)?”

He then named Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports and the newly launched Barstool Sportsbook app in PA, and said they “ravaged” him  about his Wentz take. Cowherd mentioned Portnoy’s wardrobe choices and aggressive personality and how, when he interviewed President Donald Trump, he wore a suit and didn’t curse. He then said:

“Assignment, location and time matters. Most of you won’t be as successful as Carson Wentz or Dave, so you just don’t get it.”

Cowherd brought on T.J. Houshmanzadeh, who joined the Wentz-bashing and said, “If he loses this week to the Bengals, it’s a wrap. His confidence is going to be completely gone. ”

Colin Cowherd’s 2020 Week 3 NFL picks

Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 airs on The Herd on Fridays at around 1 p.m. EST. We break down his picks for you here and follow up on Monday with his results.

“I LOVE my picks this week,” he said before and after making them.

Los Angeles Rams vs. Buffalo Bills (-2.5)

COLIN’S BOOM BET

Cowherd’s pick: Bills

Colin’s final score: Bills 27, Rams 21

Cowherd said:

“This is a really strong play. Like it, I love it. Buffalo as a home favorite is 12-2 in the last three years. They are the only team in the league that’s top five offense and defense. You see the improvement of young Josh Allen. Only the Patriots have allowed fewer points per game than the Bills since the start of last year. Their run defense is exceptional, and that’s what the Rams rely on. This will force Jared Goff to throw on the road more than he is comfortable with.”

FYI:

Week 1, Colin bet against the Bills and went with the Jets (+6.5).

“Josh Allen was bad last year,” he said. “He was pretty good against Dallas, and that’s the game you watched. Josh Allen was last in passing yards, passing touchdowns, completion percentage and passer rating the last two years.”

Week 2, he bet against the Bills and went with Miami (+5.5), and said:

“The Bills averaged 19 points last year. They are still babysitting Josh Allen.”

Actual final score: Bills 35, Rams 32

Did Colin win? Yes

Las Vegas Raiders vs. New England Patriots (-5.5)

Colin’s pick: Patriots

Colin’s final score: Patriots 34, Raiders 26

Cowherd said:

“The best team in the NFL after a loss is New England. They are 27-8 in the last decade. The Raiders are on a short week and have to travel across the country after maybe the biggest Raider win in years. The Raiders do something very poorly; they allow six-and-half yards per play. They don’t give a ton over the top, but you can slice them up six yards at a time. What does Cam and the New England offense do well? Get six yards at a time. This will be a dominant New England time-of-possession game. They will six yard the Raiders to death.”

Actual final score: Patriots 36, Raiders 20

Did Colin win? Yes

Cincinnati Bengals (+5) vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Colin’s pick: Bengals

Colin’s final score: Bengals 27, Eagles 24

Cowherd said:

“Upset of the week. Remember, no fans in Philadelphia. Young quarterback Joe Burrow isn’t facing the rowdy Eagles crowd, he’s getting five points and they played on Thursday. Carson Wentz has been all over the board in the last six games, eight sacks, four picks this year, both tied for the most of any quarterback. I don’t know if Philadelphia’s locker room is good. They also have the most giveaways this year. This is a Philadelphia team that is in flux. It is a strangely confident 0-2 Bengals team. They upset the Eagles in a fanless stadium.”

Actual final score: Bengals 23, Eagles 23

Did Colin win? Yes

Houston Texans (+4.5) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Colin’s pick: Texans

Colin’s final score: Steelers 27, Texans 26

Cowherd said:

“I love Houston in this spot. We are judging them because they lost to Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. Everybody’s going to lose to them. The Steelers still make too many mistakes and have at least one giveaway in 25 straight games. The Steelers’ offensive line run-blocking this year has been atrocious. It means you are going to give Deshaun Watson 12 to 14 possessions, and the number here is just simply too big. Houston is going to feel desperate.”

Actual final score: Steelers 28, Texans 21

Did Colin win? No

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-6) vs. Denver Broncos

Colin’s pick: Buccaneers

Colin’s final score: Buccaneers 27, Broncos 17

Cowherd said:

“Like it, I love it. Since the start of last season, when Drew Lock doesn’t play, the Broncos are 3-8. They have a winning record when he does play. They are not a good football team, and they can’t score without him. Jeff Driskel is 1-7 as a starter. But this is about defense. New England totally shut down Alvin Kamara and Christian McCaffrey. What are the Broncos right now offensively if they can’t run the football? They are Jeff Driskel. Nobody is focused like Tampa Bay right now. They think they are not playing well, and their defense has been on fire. I think this game could get ugly by the second half.”

Actual final score: Buccaneers 28, Broncos 10

Did Colin win? Yes

Did Colin Cowherd Win? Boom Bet Wins, But It’s Another Subpar Week

Colin Cowherd went 2-3 again in his Week 2 Blazin’ 5 picks, but this time his “Boom Bet” on Brady and the Bucs won for bettors at Fox Bet sportsbook PA.

Week 1 of the 2020 NFL season wasn’t particularly kind to Colin Cowherd.

His Blazin 5 picks went 2-3, and his favorite bets (the Falcons and the Jets) lost. He was so upset about it, he put them on a list.

“I will not bet FOR the Jets or the Falcons.”

This year, the Fox Bet online sportsbook app promotion with Cowherd is different. Instead of having to pick three winners out of five to boost odds for users, Cowherd is choosing a “Boom Bet” each week. His “hottest pick” gets boosted at 4x.

Also, it doesn’t appear that he is making his college football Marquee 3 selections.

However, the more things change with Cowherd, the more things stay the same. He still has a penchant for posting foot pics on Twitter.

Cowherd cackles about Baker and Burrow

Before Thursday Night Football’s Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns game, Cowherd said that Baker Mayfield is “three more crappy Sundays from the Browns moving on.”

(Mayfield was drafted No. 1 in 2018. The other quarterback on the Browns active roster is 32-year-old Case Keenum).

The Browns won 35-30, and Cowherd commented that Mayfield played one of his best games but the losing quarterback (Joe Burrow) was way better. He called Mayfield the fourth-best quarterback in the AFC North.

After spending most of the offseason ripping No. 1 pick Burrow, Cowherd went total Burrow fanboy on Friday, praising his play on Thursday night.

Colin Cowherd’s 2020 Week 2 NFL picks

Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 airs on The Herd on Fridays at around 1 p.m. EST. We break down his picks for you here and follow up on Monday with his results.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Dallas Cowboys (-5)

Colin’s pick: Cowboys

Colin’s final score: Cowboys 30, Falcons 20

Cowherd said:

“Dak Prescott is one of those guys who plays well at home. Last year at home, he was first in passing TDs, fifth in passer rating. Doesn’t it worry you if you are Atlanta and you outgain Seattle and get crushed? It’s a cotton candy offense with a lot of phony yards. Dallas loses their opener a lot. Mike McCarthy, all eyes on him, a lot of heat on him. Now they come home against an inferior team.”

Actual final score: Cowboys 40, Falcons 39

Did Colin win? No

Detroit Lions (+6.5) vs. Green Bay Packers

Colin’s pick: Lions

Colin’s final score: Lions 26, Packers 24

Cowherd said:

“This is all about the value of the number, Detroit +6.5. Detroit completely outplayed Chicago for all but eight minutes. Everyone fell in love with Aaron Rodgers. You do realize seven of his last nine games, he’s had declining numbers? Last year, the Lions played Green Bay close. They lost both games by a total of four points. I’m dead serious here: I think Matt Patricia, the next two weeks, is coaching for his job and to not lose the locker room. This is my upset of the week. Six-and-a-half is a ton of points here for an urgent team that needs to win.”

Actual final score: Packers 42, Lions 21

Did Colin win? No

Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins (+5.5)

Colin’s pick: Miami

Colin’s final score: Dolphins 24, Bills 23

Cowherd said:

“So, timeout, Miami gets +5.5 at home? I thought we liked Miami last year; now we suddenly think they stink because Belichick gave a quarterback trouble? Maybe Miami is OK, and maybe New England’s defense is fantastic. Ryan Fitzpatrick has faced Buffalo many times and has been fine. This is not a rookie quarterback. The Bills averaged 19 points last year. They are still babysitting Josh Allen. Did you see what they did in the second half against the awful Jets? Very uninspiring.”

Actual final score: Bills 31, Dolphins 28

Did Colin win? Yes

Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-7.5)

COLIN’S BOOM BET (But he doesn’t say it’s his Boom Bet or “Here comes the boom.” Instead, we found it in the app and promoted on Twitter.

Colin’s pick: Buccaneers

Colin’s final score: Buccaneers 30, Panthers 20

Cowherd said:

“When Tom Brady loses in Week 1, have you seen what he does in the next game? Yeah, he never loses. The Panthers are a bad team that have lost nine consecutive games with a college coaching staff. The Panthers allowed 30 points a game last year. This defense is younger and potentially worse. Last week, Brady faced the best defense in the division … Tom Brady had a pick-6; it won’t happen again. The thing about Tampa to watch here, their defense was actually really good. Drew Brees threw for 160 yards. The running defense was good last year; it’s good again. Don’t get caught up losing the first week to the Saints; they should have.”

Actual final score: Buccaneers 31, Panthers 17

Did Colin win? Yes

New England Patriots (+4) vs. Seattle Seahawks

Colin’s pick: Patriots

Colin’s final score: Seahawks 23, Patriots 20

Cowherd said:

“I get over a field goal with Belichick. Since 2019, the Patriots defense is first in almost everything. Seattle’s O-lines and D-lines are bad. They were outgained by Atlanta. The Seahawks allowed the most passing yards last week (434). I think Seattle is the better team in this spot. This is going to be a short, quick game. New England’s going to run and eat the clock up. What’s Seattle going to do? They know New England’s defense is great on the back end, so they are going to run the football.”

Actual final score: Seahawks 35, Patriots 30

Did Colin win? No

Did Colin Cowherd Win? Jets and Falcons ‘Hot Picks’ Go Down in Flames NFL Week 1

Colin Cowherd is back with his Blazin’ 5 and Boom Bet boost at Fox Bet Sportsbook PA for the 2020 NFL season. We bring you his Week 1 picks and results.

“Fire it up!”

Football is back, and so is our stalking of Colin Cowherd’s picks. Last year, we tracked Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 and Marquee 3 Super Boost college football picks each week.

Cowherd is much better handicapping the pros.

He finished the NFL season with an overall record of 42-41-3. Fox Bet PA’s promo at the time gave PA bettors the chance to double their money with the sportsbooks odds when three of his five picks covered.

Cowherd flunked when it came to college football. In 2019, his overall record was 18-27. If all three of his Marquee 3 Super Boost college football picks hit, sports bettors cashed in at +800 instead of +600.

Cowherd only correctly picked all three games once over the course of 15 weeks.

2020 Colin Cowherd promos at Fox Bet Sportsbook

“The Herd with Colin Cowherd” airs his Blazin 5′ picks every Friday around noon. This year, the promo with Fox Bet is different. It’s now “Colin Cowherd’s Blazin 5′ Boom Bet.” Each week, the sportsbook app will boost Cowherd’s “hottest pick” for 4x your money.

Now, he gets to cherry-pick from a full slate of NFL games and go 1-1 each week instead of 3-for-5.

The Marquee 3 Super Boost is missing from “The Herd” and Fox Bet promos. We don’t have any official word where it went, but we have some guesses.

Colin Cowherd’s 2020 Week 1 NFL picks

A bearded Cowherd is back with his picks and bravado.

“I gotta be honest with you. Every week, I think I’m going to go 5-0. Every dang week, I think I’m going to go 5-0. “

Colin did not go 5-0.

Cowherd’s Week 1 picks went 2-3.

His “Boom Bet,” the Jets +6.5, was a dud. His other “pick of the weekend,” the Falcons +2.5, turned out to be a trashed ticket, too.

Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens (-7.5)

Colin’s pick: Ravens

Colin’s final score: Ravens 33, Browns 20

Cowherd said:

“I rarely swallow more than a touchdown, but I’m going to take Baltimore. Nobody is worse than the Browns the last 15 years during opening games. Why? Cause they are always changing stuff. Oh, wait. They changed stuff again with a new coaching staff. Cleveland beat Baltimore last year. Baltimore is not overlooking Cleveland. The Browns haven’t won during Week 1 since 2005. The Ravens led the NFL in rushing, and I believe their rushing game will be better. This is a testament to John Harbaugh and coaching. The Ravens have held their opponents to 10 points or fewer in the last four season openers.”

Actual final score: Ravens 38, Browns  6

Did Colin win? Yes

New York Jets (+6.5) vs. Buffalo Bills

COLIN’S BOOM BET (But he doesn’t say it’s his Boom Bet or “Boom goes the dynamite.” Instead, we found it in the app and promoted on Twitter.)

Colin’s pick: Jets

Colin’s final score: Bills 24, Jets 20

Cowherd said:

“Josh Allen was bad last year. He was pretty good against Dallas, and that’s the game you watched. Josh Allen was last in passing yards, passing touchdowns, completion percentage and passer rating the last two years. The coaching staff is great, he’s bad. He wasn’t good his last year at Wyoming. The Bills have scored fewer than 20 points in each of their last five games last year, including the playoff loss. 6.5 points when I get the better quarterback … there is no question the Jets upgraded at wide receiver, tight end and offensive line. Buffalo may win, but 6.5 points is way too many points to give the Jets. Buffalo weather won’t be an issue, LOVE the Jets +6.5.”

Actual final score: Bills 27, Jets 17

Did Colin win? No

Seattle Seahawks vs. Atlanta Falcons (+2.5)

Colin’s pick: Falcons

Colin’s final score: Falcons 24, Seahawks 23

“Like it, I love it. Atlanta is my pick of the weekend. The Falcons played really well last year and won their last four and six of their last eight to support their coach. Matt Ryan has figured out Pete Carroll. They’ve faced each other seven times, and Ryan is 5-2 with a passer rating over 100 and 16 TDs. He’s done really well against Pete Carroll defenses, and this is not one of his great defenses. For all their issues, Ryan and the offense isn’t the problem. As much as I love Russell Wilson, it’s really hard in the NFL to go on the road cross-country against a Pro-Bowl-level quarterback when you have a significantly worse offensive and defensive line.”

(Hmmm. So if the Falcons are Cowherd’s “pick of the weekend,” why is it not his Boom Bet? We couldn’t tell ya.)

“I know, I know … a bunch of new stuff for Carolina. But can I just say something? … Of course I can, it’s my show. Teddy Bridgewater is good. Best winning percentage as a starting quarterback in the last five years. He’s 16-6, and he also has a history of walking into a playbook and figuring it out. He does not make mistakes, and he’s got a world-class running back. I’ve always thought their wide receivers are underrated. The O-line is good enough. Defensively, they are in a rebuild. The Raiders were a bad team last year, not just on defense. Week 12 on, the Raiders were bad offensively with all those weapons. It’s a Gruden-Derek Carr issue. The Raiders were a bad road team, 2-6, and were outscored by 90 points. Worst road point differential in the NFL.”

Actual final score: Raiders 34, Panthers 30

Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Rams (+3)

Colin’s pick: Rams

Colin’s final score: Rams 28, Cowboys 27

“I think the Rams are the better team, and they are getting points at home. The Cowboys only had seven defensive interceptions last year. They don’t make offenses uncomfortable. The Rams O-line is healthy, same quarterback, same coach, same system … this is a good Rams team with a super-hypercreative head coach. Sean McVay in season openers, this is what creative head coaches do, he’s 3-0, averages 36 points, and two of the three wins came by 20+ points. Jared Goff, for all the heat he gets, in the last four weeks, averaged 330 yards passing, second-best in the NFL. Cam Akers, rookie running back, has been the talk of the camp, as has Van Jefferson. I like the Rams to win in their new stadium. A lot of points here.”

Actual final score: Rams 20, Cowboys 17
