Top 5 Pennsylvania Lottery Fast Play Jackpots So Far In 2022

The PA Lottery offers several Fast Play games that include progressive jackpots. Here are the top current winners in the state this year.

When a Lycoming County resident who plays the PA Lottery walked into a small-town convenience store earlier this month, they didn’t expect to walk out with a Fast Play ticket worth close to $1 million.

But luck was on their side that day, and the hefty prize landed a spot on our list of this year’s top five largest Fast Play jackpots in PA. It’s been a hot year so far for Fast Play prizes, so we’re taking a look at the top winners from the first half of the year.

Top 5 PA Lottery Fast Play prizes of 2022

No. 1 Fast Play jackpot: $1.92 Million

Game: Top Dollar

Just last month, the largest Fast Play jackpot in PA Lottery history made headlines, when a player in Lackawanna County hit the $1.92 million prize. The winning ticket was sold on Saturday, May 28, in Carbondale.

Top Dollar’s Grand Prize had been growing since the last time a player hit the jackpot in June 2021 almost a full year. Lottery retailer Convenient Food Mart in Carbondale received a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

No. 2 Fast Play jackpot: $1.25 million

Game: Jackpot Party

The second-highest Fast Play prize so far this year was claimed in January by lottery player Mary S., of Allegheny County. The $1.25 millionwinning Jackpot Party ticket was sold at a Sheetz store in Montgomery, Lycoming County. That retailer also earned a $10,000 bonus.

Jackpot Party is a $20 game with a progressive jackpot that starts at $300,000. The current prize is estimated near $650,000 at the time of this writing. Jackpot Party can also be played online at the PA iLottery. The game will close once the current jackpot is hit.

No. 3 Fast Play jackpot: $969,680

Game: Cash Stampede

The No. 3 jackpot went to an out-of-state player visiting Philadelphia. This game went almost exactly a year with no jackpot winner, giving the Grand Prize time to reach nearly $1 million.

Cash Stampede had a price of $10 and offered progressive top prizes starting at $100,000. That game is now closed.

Ryan P. of New York hit the Cash Stampede jackpot after buying the ticket at Sunoco on Walnut Lane in Philly. The retailer bonus was $5,000 for selling the winning ticket.

No. 4 Fast Play jackpot: $862,803

Game: Pennsylvania Progressive

This big prize hit in a small town and goes to show that crazy jackpot wins can happen to anyone. This winning ticket was sold on June 14 at Dandy Mini Mart in Jersey Shore, Lycoming County. The store received a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

A more expensive ticket, Pennsylvania Progressive costs $30, but offers progressive top prizes starting at a whopping $500,000! It’s a newer game, so it will be on sale until two more players hit the top prize.

No. 5 Fast Play jackpot: $785,032

Game: Blank Check

Last on the list is the $785,000 jackpot hit on the game Blank Check on May 25 in Delaware County. Blank Check had a history of great jackpots, with the first one climbing over $1 million when it was hit in 2020. The second one was nearly as large as this Delaware County winner’s prize from May.

The Wawa store where the ticket was sold in Folcroft received a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. Blank Check was a $20 game that offered progressive top prizes starting at $200,000. That game is now closed.

What exactly are PA Lottery Fast Play games?

As far as game rules, Fast Play games are played just like scratch-offs. The big difference is that Fast Play tickets are printed right when you buy them, and there’s no need to scratch anything.

Similar to scratch-offs, you might have a set of your numbers and a set of winning numbers to match up in order to win a prize. Another game style familiar to scratch-off players is the connect-style game, where you hope to match a row of identical symbols in order to win the associated prize.

You can ask for them at any PA Lottery retailer, or get them online with the PA iLottery.

Another difference between scratchers and Fast Play is that some Fast Play top prizes continue to pile up as tickets are sold. This is what’s known as a progressive jackpot.

Progressive jackpots are typically offered on draw games, where tickets are sold between drawings, driving the jackpot prize higher and higher. But with Fast Play, you don’t have to wait for a drawing to see if you’ve won.

How it feels to win the PA Lottery

While many of the winners on this list either haven’t claimed their prize yet, or have chosen to stay under the radar, the PA Lottery highlights some winners on its website. A Fast Play winner from last year recently shared her experience.

Marilyn D. of Bucks County won over $1.29 million on a Diamond Mine ticket she purchased at a local Wawa. She didn’t believe her eyes when she saw the matching numbers. Hilariously, her first instinct was to get out of there.

“My initial instinct, when I saw the numbers come up, put me into flight or flight mode – I threw the ticket in my purse and I ran out the door,” she recounted.

She got her son on the phone to tell him the big news. She said, “My heart was racing, my legs felt weak, that’s when he told me to sit down. I was so excited, I danced down the street!”

Things have since calmed down for Marilyn and her family, as they’ve started to put the money to good use for typical things like retirement and a vacation.

“I don’t think it’s hit us yet. Right now, we just want to realize it all for a minute, it’s really incredible.”

Incredible, yes. But lottery dreams do come true for some, like the big winners on this list. In fact, in the previous fiscal year, the PA Lottery paid out a record $3.5 billion in prizes to players of traditional lottery games.

PA Lottery Fast Play games aren’t a bad way to take your chance for a piece of the pie.

PA Lottery Rolls Out New Online Games; Philadelphia Player Hits $1 Million Scratch-Off

The PA Lottery is constantly delivering new online games all the time, like Road Trip Riches and Streaks of Luck.

The road trip is a deeply embedded summer tradition, immortalized in the legendary National Lampoon’s movie and numerous other aspects of American culture. Now it’s arriving at the PA iLottery, too, with a brand new online game titled Road Trip Riches.

It also features another new online title with Streaks of Luck.

Hopefully PA Lottery players will have as much fortune with these new games as they’ve had of late. Several hit sizable jackpots recently, including one in Philadelphia who took home $1 million from a Power Payday scratch-off ticket.

Road Trip Riches delivers the fun of traveling to your favorite device

The connect-style game features a travel and tourism theme, letting you experience all the good vibes of a vacation without ever leaving your home. Players can multiply the total won up to five times and can also unlock five free games. Road Trip Riches offers two different bonus games, as well.

Users will first select the play amount (from .50 to $30 with a default play of $1). Then, the symbols on the screen will drop and soon reappear. Players win when at least three similar symbols are connected.

If players connect three free game arrow symbols, they will also unlock five free games. Three backpack symbols activate the Backpack Bonus Game. And three bonus photo symbols unlock the Photo Bonus Game.

In total, players can win up to $300,000. The complete list of prizes that can be won in Road Trip Riches and the corresponding odds are available at the PA Lottery website.

Overall, the odds of winning in this game are 1 in 4.69.

Feeling a hot streak? Test your chances with Streaks of Luck

If you’re worried your Road Trip Riches may go the way of Clark Griswold’s travel nightmares in National Lampoon’s, the PA Lottery also has another new online game, Streaks of Luck.

Streaks of Luck is also a connect-style game that offers a maximum prize of $300,000. The game features a chance to win an instant cash prize, along with opportunities to unlock a free game and a bonus game.

Streaks of Luck has the same play amounts as Road Road Trip Riches (from .50 to $30 with a default play of $1) but the gameplay is built around four rows of six cubes that appear on the screen.

Players win when at least three similar symbols are connected in the same row color. They can also earn an instant win (of the prize amount shown) when a dollar sign symbol appears on a pink cube.

In addition, the free game is unlocked when three turn arrow symbols appear in any row during gameplay. The Color Cube Bonus Game is activated when three lightning bolt symbols show up in any row.

The complete list of potential prizes and the associated odds can again be found at the PA Lottery site. Overall, the chances of winning in Streaks of Luck are 1 in 4.81.

PA Lottery player cashes in with a seven-figure Power Payday

In other news, a number of PA Lottery players won massive jackpots recently.

The biggest winner was a player in Philadelphia who hit for $1 million on the Power Payday scratch-off ticket. The ticket was purchased at Front Page News, on West Oregon Ave. in Philly, which will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winner.

Power Payday is a $20 scratch-off game featuring five top prizes of $1 million. The win in Philadelphia was announced on June 7.

Other recent wins include:

  • A Westmoreland County player purchased a Powerball with Power Play ticket that won $100,000 in the June 6 drawing.
  • A player in Coudersport (Potter County) also had a big win on June 6. That player matched all five balls (4-5-12-34-38) in the Pennsylvania Lottery Cash 5 with Quick Cash drawing to win $200,000 before withholding.
  • Two days later, another player in Chambersburg won $200,000 in the Cash 5 with Quick Cash drawing on June 8. That player matched all five balls (6-11-16-27-29) to win the jackpot.
  • On June 9, a player in Whitehall won $128,000 by matching all five balls (1-12-13-17-24) on a Treasure Hunt ticket.
  • And finally, a Schuylkill County player purchased a Powerball with Power Play ticket worth $100,000 in the June 13 drawing.

Whether you’re playing draw games, purchasing scratch-off tickets, or trying out the newest online lottery games like Road Trip Riches and Streaks of Luck, proceeds from the PA Lottery fund programs that benefit older Pennsylvania citizens.

New games are added frequently to keep that pipeline going. And the next one is never far away.

PA Lottery Tickets Make Great Gifts, But What Happens When One Hits For Big Bucks?

While many around the country often gift lottery tickets, the results vary for what people expect to receive back if they supply a winner.

Let’s play pretend. Imagine that a friend or a relative gives you a PA Lottery ticket. Maybe it’s a scratch-off, or a draw game.

And let’s say you hit it big. The kind of jackpot that carries a bunch of zeroes.

Do you tip them? Or share some of the winnings?

An extensive survey in a recent article and some social media posts by PlayPennsylvania explored this very topic, along with a few others. And the results were rather intriguing.

Half the respondents of a lottery survey have gifted tickets

Last month, PlayPennsylvania released a survey of 1,100 people regarding their lottery habits. The answers revealed quite a bit.

The vast majority of people (79%) have played the lottery with a co-worker. Half of the respondents (1 in 2) have purchased a lottery ticket for a family member or friend. And nearly half (47%) have agreed up front to split money with a family member, friend, or co-worker if they won the lottery.

But what else happens if you win?

That topic provided even more interesting responses. According to the survey, 58% of people expected to get a cut if their co-workers were gifted a $1 million ticket, but that number dropped to 38% if it was a family member who received a winning ticket. So much for blood being thicker.

Perhaps the perfect case study of those statistics arrived on Reddit. A Reddit user recently relayed a story explaining that he frequently gives away scratch-off lottery tickets to family members as stocking stuffers. And this year, a cousin won $50,000 from the scratch-off gift.

The Reddit user’s spouse wasn’t happy and demanded that the ticket be returned. It’s been a point of contention ever since.

But the issue of what to give, or what you should receive from a winning ticket, varies widely. This infographic from PlayPennsylvania illustrates the differing expectations.

Does a $1 million jackpot earn you a kickback?

Furthermore, according to a smaller PlayPA survey on Twitter, if you gave a family member or co-worker a lottery ticket that won $1 million, here’s what respondents said they would expect in return:

So nearly half of the respondents would expect nothing in return. And those in the other half would expect amounts that vary rather significantly.

Lotto jackpots: How much money would it take to quit your job?

Another section of the PlayPA survey focused on how lottery jackpots might impact your employment. Surprisingly, nearly 50% of respondents said they would need to win $4 million or more to quit. However, roughly 10% would quit instantly. The full data is pictured below.

Let’s say you win a PA Lottery drawing, now what?

The last part of the survey explored what else might happen if you won the lottery. On a positive note, 88% of players surveyed said they would give away a portion of the winnings. But a similar number (83%), also said they would prefer to keep the winnings a secret, maintaining a low profile with the new-found wealth.

Most people (70%) would take the money in a lump sum.

And interestingly enough, here are the five most popular ways the winnings would be spent:

  1. Traveling
  2. Paying debts
  3. Becoming an artist
  4. Writing a book
  5. Becoming a full-time video gamer

The PA Lottery surprises new winners every day with jackpots they never expected. The same phenomenon happens in other states all across the country. It’s sometimes hard to even imagine it.

But as the survey shows, most people know just what they would do if they won.

Forward Progress: PA Lottery Games Prove Progressive Jackpots Aren’t Exclusive To Casinos

To the surprise of many, the PA Lottery offers some online games that include progressive jackpots, similar to those seen at PA casinos.

You don’t need a car or a convenience store anymore.

One of the player-friendly developments from the Pennsylvania Lottery is the proliferation of online games.

Nowadays, there are plenty of entertaining games you can play right from the comfort of your couch through the PA iLottery. And some of them offer progressive jackpots.

Double Jackpots features Gold and Diamond jackpot prizes

One of those games is aptly titled Double Jackpots. That game is a number match-style game that brings the fun of a scratch-off ticket into your living room.

Players first select between 5 and 15 “your numbers” to play per round (in groups of five). Then, players select the amount per play (from .05 to $2).

Next, much like a scratch-off card, it’s time to reveal some numbers. Players can reveal the winning numbers and your numbers individually, or hit “Reveal All” to see all the numbers at once. Every match wins a prize and there are also multiplier symbols (2x, 3x, 5x, or 10x) to boost your prize value.

In addition, there are also bonus games that can get unlocked when three symbols appear (Gold or Diamond).

Those games bring the progressive element to the forefront. Each bonus round features a wheel spin and players win all the multipliers shown in the highlighted area of the wheel when the segments stop. Finally, if both arrow segments line up in the highlighted area, players take home the progressive Gold or Diamond jackpot.

The Gold jackpot starts at $500, while the Diamond jackpot starts at $10,000.

According to the Double Jackpots’ rules page, 3% of the cost of each play helps fund the progressive jackpot prizes at a predetermined rate set by the lottery. Furthermore, an additional 0.45% of each play purchased is contributed to fund the next round of the progressive jackpot prizes.

Jungle Tumble Jackpots brings Mini, Mega, and Jumbo prizes

Jungle Tumble Jackpots also offers progressive jackpot prizes. That game is a connect-style game that features three progressive jackpots.

After the play amount and the play mode (play/autoplay) are selected, symbols on the play grid will fall and then randomly appear. Players win when a cluster of three similar play symbols are connected. Each consecutive win improves your chances to multiply a prize. There are also bonus games that can appear.

  • Revealing three “Free Games” symbols unlocks five free games.
  • Three or four “Chest” symbols unlocks the Chest Bonus game.
  • Revealing three “Jackpot Bonus” symbols unlocks the Jackpot Bonus game.

In the Jackpot Bonus game, players have a chance to win Mini Jackpots (starting at $100), Mega Jackpots (starting at $1,000), and the Jumbo Jackpot (starting at $10,000).

According to the rules of the Jungle Tumble Jackpots game, 2% of the cost of each play (based on a play of $1.00), is used to fund each progressive jackpot prize at a predetermined rate. In addition, an extra 0.244% of each play purchased, (based on a play of $1.00), is contributed to fund the next round of the progressive jackpot prizes.

Progressive slots are incredibly popular in PA casinos

Both PA Lottery progressive games are somewhat similar to the progressive slots that are popular in brick and mortar, as well as PA online casinos. In progressive games, there is an increasing jackpot and also a baseline amount that the jackpot returns to each time someone hits it. As noted in an article on PlayPA, progressive games tend to pay out a little less often than other games because a portion of the amount played helps fund the larger jackpot.

The biggest difference in the PA Lottery games and the casino-style progressive slots is the gameplay.

The initial portion of Double Jackpots plays much like a scratch-off card. It is the bonus games that bring out the more progressive elements. Jungle Tumble Jackpots is similar in that regard, as well. The larger progressive jackpots unlock once players reach the Jackpot Bonus game.

In Pennsylvania, one progressive slot that has made headlines for its jackpots is the Divine Fortune game. Divine Fortune is a 5 x 3-reel progressive slot game featuring mythical characters and a Greek mythology theme.

According to PlayPA, players in December won the Divine Fortune Mega Jackpot 98 times for a whopping $13.6 million, and an average jackpot of over $273,000. The game has also spawned a notable tattoo from one of its fans, a testament to its popularity.

So now that you’ve been educated on progressive games, you may want to try them out. Whether you opt for progressive offerings from the PA Lottery, or progressive slots from PA casinos, the jackpots will always loom large.

And thankfully, you don’t need a car or a convenience store to win them.

Mega Millions Jackpot Hit in CA Follows a Long Trend of January Wins

January has long been a hot month for Mega Millions Top Prize wins, and this year is no exception. Here are the top jackpots of the month…

If you don’t have a New Year’s tradition for bringing luck and good fortune, you might want to start a new one: kick off the year by playing your lucky numbers on a Mega Millions ticket. January has long been a hot month for Mega Millions Top Prize lottery wins, and this year is no exception. A ticket sold in CA hit the $426 million jackpot on Friday, Jan. 28. The cash value of that prize is a still-impressive $292.9 million before taxes.

Friday’s Woodland Hills, CA winner continues the trend started in 2005 by Margaret Jones of GA who hit the $131 million jackpot on Jan. 18 that year. In the 17 years since 18 other Mega Millions players have taken the Top Prize in the month of January.

They can’t all be winners

The only year since 2005 that didn’t see a January winner was – somehow not surprisingly – 2020. The next year picked up the slack though, when a lottery club in MI hit the second-highest ever Mega Millions prize of $1.05 billion. 2011 and 2009 saw two Top Prize winners each. In 2011, two players split the $380 million prize won on Jan. 4, and in 2009 there were two big winners within two weeks of each other.

The latest January jackpot prize came just short of cracking the list of the top 10 highest for Mega Millions. $451 million was the number to beat, which was – you guessed it – another New Year jackpot hit in January of 2018.

One PA county enjoys a streak of their own

Another lucky streak is garnering attention in PA. Lottery players in Bucks County have recently hit three major prizes over $1 million in the space of eight days.

On Jan. 20, a Powerball ticket sold at Wegman’s in Warrington won the second-tier prize after matching all five white balls. That ticket won the player $2 million instead of the usual $1 million because they added the $1 Power Play option to their ticket.

Another player won the first-ever Top Prize on PA Lottery’s new $5 Million Money Maker Scratch-Off, after ponying up $50 for the ticket at a Wawa in Bensalem. It’s a good thing they did, because they’ll receive a $5 million windfall for taking that leap of faith.

And a Bucks County player also hit the jackpot on PA’s Cash 5 with Quick Cash game on Jan. 27. The Grand Prize for the daily draw game was up to $1.85 million when they picked all five numbers correctly at Five Brothers Produce Market in Bristol.

In Pennsylvania, tickets for draw games are available at local lottery retailers as well as online at the PA Lottery. Sign up here to receive $20 free plus a deposit match bonus up to $500.

Mega Millions Delivers Record-Breaking $4 Million Online Jackpot in PA

A PA Lottery player from Luzerne County won the largest online prize ever, cashing in on a Mega Millions drawing for $4 MILLION DOLLARS

New year, new record. HUGE PA Lottery online jackpot winner.

The PA Lottery announced Wednesday that a player in Luzerne County recently won its largest online prize ever, cashing in on a Mega Millions drawing for a massive $4 million jackpot.

The ticket matched all five white balls drawn, 4-19-39-42-52, but not the yellow Mega Ball, 9, to win the $4 million prize, minus applicable withholding.

The player reaped the rewards of the $1 Megaplier option, which boosted the prize to $4 million instead of $1 million because the multiplier drawn was four.

In total, more than 35,600 other PA Lottery Mega Millions tickets won prizes of various amounts in the drawing. Furthermore, more than 8,600 tickets purchased with Megaplier were winners, boosting the prize totals of those winning tickets.

PA Lottery continues to pay dividends for its players

The recent wins continue a hot streak for PA lottery players. In December, scratch-off lottery players won a total of more than $223 million, including two jackpots of $1 million each.

The PA Lottery also released its first-ever $50 scratch-off ticket, which has a maximum prize of $5 million.

Online lottery games are a perfect fit for PA weather

With winter weather arriving in Pennsylvania, many players may choose to play PA lottery games from the comfort of home.

Fortunately, the Pennsylvania Lottery has numerous online PA Lottery offerings that can be played on a computer, tablet, or mobile device.

Online players can purchase Powerball, Mega Millions, Treasure Hunt, and Cash4life tickets at palottery.com or by using the Lottery’s Official App.

There are also a variety of other online games, including a Team USA game, that seems like a perfect fit for the Winter Olympics, which begin on February 4th.

That game is a number-style match game with a multiplier that can boost prizes up to 10 times their value. There’s also a chance to activate three different bonus games. In addition, the Team USA game has an autoplay option to automatically play up to 20 game rounds

Friday’s Mega Millions drawing features massive $376 million jackpot

As for the traditional Mega Millions game, there was no winner in Tuesday’s drawing, which boosts Friday’s drawing to a $376 million annuity value, or $256.4 million in cash.

And whether there’s a winner or not, Pennsylvania’s older citizens will continue to reap the rewards of the PA lottery programs.

The Pennsylvania Lottery remains the only state lottery to direct all proceeds to programs that benefit older residents. Since ticket sales began in 1972, it has contributed more than $32.6 billion to fund property tax and rent rebates, transportation, care services, prescription assistance, and local services including senior centers and meals.

The Parallel Gambling Experience

Many gamblers played lotteries prior to legalized sports betting and can relate to its parameters.

The lottery was once the only game in town for people seeking action. Most only involved $1. But the states, forerunners of bookmakers enticing bettors with props, made the lottery attractive, enticing and sophisticated.

Color codes. Symbols. Visual excitement with the dollar signs.

Yes, gamblers know that the highest-denomination games carry remote collection odds, and that the Pennsylvania lottery website outlines the odds of winning.

It’s a long shot, but somebody has to win. Why not you?

Casino slot players experience the same phenomenon. First, it was nickel slots. Then 25 cents. A dollar was big. And then came $5 and up.

One life-changing pull.

Sports bettors may view lotteries in the context ranging from a small prop to an expensive same-game parlay. Many “graduated” from the lottery ranks and still play them.

A lottery is an in-game bet in a different form.

Responsible Use of Tickets

Kids will be given enough presents for Christmas. Lottery tickets should not be among them, as they would constitute an encouragement of under-age gambling.

Responsible gaming efforts are an excellent part of the gambling business and extend to this.

For those who are adults….If someone buys you a winning ticket that hits big, should you share it?

Why not?

That way, it is better to give AND receive at Christmas.

In popular culture, Nicholas Cage and Bridget Fonda starred in the 1994 film “It Can Happen to You”, regarding a policeman who shares his winning $4 million lottery ticket with a waitress.

Good luck scratching out a gift that keeps on giving.
