Topgolf Partnership is Latest Move in BetMGM Gambling Expansion

BetMGM is expanding fast, most recently partnering with Topgolf and planning to launch a Borgata online casino in PA.

It’s a lot like the wave

If you’ve ever been to a ball game, you’ve probably seen it before. People stand up and throw their arms in the air and then others join in. Before long, the whole stadium sweeps up in a wave that spreads across the entire crowd.

That’s kind of how sports betting is moving these days. Take the BetMGM brand as a case study.

Last week, BetMGM announced a partnership with Topgolf that will provide joint opportunities for gaming, marketing, and promotions at Topgolf venues across the country.

“We look forward to introducing Topgolf guests to the immersive sports betting experience that only BetMGM can provide,” BetMGM’s Chief Revenue Officer Matt Prevost said in a news release. “Topgolf is known for offering unique and interactive entertainment options, which our loyal BetMGM users can now access through a variety of exclusive and customized packages.”

Topgolf already has a presence in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania residents can witness the partnership come together first-hand at a TopGolf location in Pittsburgh and another one that’s being planned near King of Prussia.

In addition to Pennsylvania’s locations, the partnership will be visible throughout Topgolf venues in cities where BetMGM operates. Those include its Las Vegas location at MGM Grand plus Indianapolis, Nashville, Detroit, Virginia Beach, and Denver. It also includes those within the WGT by Topgolf platform.

BetMGM will also pursue branding and promotional integrations in other  Topgolf locations as sports betting and iGaming platforms become available in new states.

Beyond the BetMGM partnership, another online casino also made news in Pennsylvania this week.

Borgata Casino joining PA iGaming market soon

Borgata online casino, also owned by MGM, will launch in Pennsylvania this week in partnership with Rivers Philadelphia. The BetMGM brand is already live in PA with online casino and sports betting apps that launched in December 2020.

While the Borgata iGaming app will partner with Rivers, BetMGM is partnered with Penn NationalHollywood Casino Grantville for online casino and Hollywood Casino Morgantown (coming in 2021) for online sports betting. In Pennsylvania, an iGaming and sportsbook app do not need to share the same land-based operator.

The Borgata online casino is already live in New Jersey. It is likely the Pennsylvania entity will provide similar rewards and promotions for new players.

BetMGM to launch online poker rooms in MI and PA

Although the BetMGM sportsbook/betting brand arrived later than many others, it continues to expand rapidly across the country.

Plans are in place to launch a BetMGM online poker room in Michigan in the near future, and one is expected to follow in Pennsylvania later in the year. For now, PA has one online poker room, PokerStars PA, a site that also launched in Michigan late last month.

Gambling wave continues in the US

And so, just like the wave that forms inside a stadium, the BetMGM brand continues to grow in strength, gain support, and spread across the country.

Many other sports betting and gaming companies are sharing in similar success.

The momentum is growing.

And the energy is expanding in every direction.

BetMGM Expands to PA, Offers to Buy UK Gambling Partner Entain for $11 Billion

BetMGM recently debuted online casino and sports betting products in PA. Now its parent company is looking to absorb online gambling partner Entain.

BetMGM waded into the crowded Pennsylvania online casino market last month, becoming the state’s 13th iGaming option.

They upped the ante by adding a live dealer option shortly after launch. Games for now include blackjack liveAmerican roulette, and American auto roulette.

And on Dec. 18, BetMGM launched Pennsylvania’s 11th online sportsbook. They are partnered with Penn National’s Hollywood Casino for iGaming and Hollywood Casino Morgantown for sports.

On Jan. 4, news dropped that MGM is attempting to buy out UK gambling company Entain, its partner in online BetMGM gambling endeavors.

MGM looking to expand footprint

The BetMGM brand is already live in or heading to nine states, with more to come. Entain is the owner of a number of popular UK betting brands including bwin, Ladbrokes, partypoker, Coral, Crystalbet, Eurobet, Sportingbet, and online game brands including CasinoClub and Foxy Bingo.

Entain confirmed Monday the MGM offer equivalent to $11.06 billion, an offer Entain said “significantly undervalues the company and its prospects.”

As such, the deal was rejected, with Entain requesting “additional information in respect of the strategic rationale for a combination of the two companies.”

The proposal is reminiscent of Caesars’ purchase of William Hill last year for $3.7 billion. Absorbing Entain would propel MGM, already a large player in the casino industry, into one of the biggest gaming companies in both land-based and online arenas.

Entail PLC (formerly GVC) stock jumped more than 25% on the London Stock Exchange Monday to around $19.40 with the offer news. MGM stock was trading down over 4% at around $30 mid-day.

BetMGM welcome offer

If you’re new to BetMGM casino in PA, it’s a good time to get started. The newcomer’s offer for first-time depositors is typical, but it has longevity.

First, there is $25 in freeplay. And there is also a 100 percent deposit match up to $1,000. Both offers expire on Dec. 31 – but that’s Dec. 31, 2021!

There’s lots of fine print, but for those who want to get rolling, the simple skinny is:

  • Go to BetMGM, create an account, and become a verified player.
  • $25 in freeplay is automatically added to your account, available for immediate use.
  • Winnings received from the $25 freeplay bonus are not eligible for withdrawal unless the player has made a deposit.
  • Once a deposit is made, any winnings are immediately eligible for withdrawal.

All BetMGM casino games are eligible. There are wagering and deposit requirements. Most critically, there is a 15x playthrough for the release of the bonus.

Look out for new offers weekly. Like their “Seal the Deal” $5 free play bonus for wagering $50 on slots in January.

Holiday Halloween Jack-Pot! Half-Million-Dollar Win Tops Off Big Year for PA Online Slots

It was a big year for big payouts at Pennsylvania online casinos, topped off with Hollywood Online Casino’s largest jackpot ever, on Halloween Jack.

It was quite the Christmas bonus.

One online casino player in Pennsylvania was spinning a Halloween Jack slot game on December 16 at Hollywood Online Casino. The game is considered NetEnt‘s spookiest slot, with free spins and features that include something called the Expanding Death Reaper Wild.

And for a player named Randy, the scary slot brought the most pleasant dreams. When one of his spins stopped, Halloween Jack produced a jackpot of $537,000.

“This has been our biggest jackpot win so far,” Rich Criado, general manager of iCasino for Penn National Gaming, said in a news release.

“We’re thrilled that this player was able to go into the holiday season and 2021 with more than half a million dollars in the bank!”

Halloween Jack and many other casino games (including blackjack, Dancing Drums and 88 Fortunes) are available on HollywoodCasino.com on desktop and mobile platforms. Randy was playing via Android when the jackpot arrived.

There is also a free-to-play version of Halloween Jack available on Penn National Gaming’s social casino site, mychoice® Casino, which is available in the GooglePlay Store or in the App Store nationwide.

Halloween Jack win is the latest in a series of 2020 jackpots

The calendar year 2020 will live in infamy, but in regard to online jackpots, it was a banner year — especially for Divine Fortune players. Here are some of the highlights:

  • In February, a Glenside, PA, resident named Marc won $148,172 on a $2 spin while playing Divine Fortune at PlaySugarHouse.com. That same day, Jeanne, a newly registered player at HollywoodCasino.com, hit a Divine Fortune jackpot for $76,598.13.
  • In March, a Lititz man hit a Divine Fortune jackpot while playing online at PlaySugarHouse.com. He hit the jackpot with a $1 bet, winning $278,430.23.  And that same week, a Divine Fortune player in New Jersey hit for a similar jackpot of $278,802.58.
  • Then, two months later, Divine Fortune paid out a record-breaking jackpot of $533,239. The Audobon, PA, woman was playing on her smartphone at PlaySugarHouse.com when she won the big one.
  • And in November, Divine Fortune produced again. An Allentown woman won a jackpot of $443,000 on a $3 bet.

Divine Fortune should produce big payouts in 2021 too

The design of Divine Fortune should continue to reward its players in the new year as well. Unlike some other progressive jackpot slot games, Divine Fortune emphasizes a high return to players (RTP) of 96.8%. The slot’s volatility rating is also considered “medium,” which means it produces more consistent winners.

In addition, based on the rate at which the jackpot consistently climbs, the prized slot is still gaining popularity among online casino players in Pennsylvania.

So as the year 2020 turns to 2021, the excitement provided by Divine Fortune should continue.

There will be more winners. And more jackpots too.

And perhaps some more people like Randy, who hit the big one just in time for the holidays.

Big Treats for October Jackpot Winners at PA Casinos

PA casinos paid out dozens of jackpots to PA residents and visitors in October. Have a look at some of the biggest winners of the month.

October was filled with plenty of treats for these lucky winners at Pennsylvania casinos. In the upcoming months, two new casinos will offer players more ways to win.

Live! Casino Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s first mini-casino, is set to open on Nov. 24. In early 2021, Live! Casino Philadelphia will welcome guests.

Pennsylvania is also home to 12 online casinos, which give players a chance to win from the comfort and safety of their own homes — or anywhere in PA. Here’s a look at some of the biggest winners from October.

(The following is not a complete list of winners.)

Harrah’s Philadelphia’s biggest winner

October was a historic month for Harrah’s Philadelphia and a ridiculously happy month for one lucky player.

Eugene L. won a $1,319,265.50 mega table games progressive jackpot at Four Card Poker. It is the largest payout ever at Harrah’s Philadelphia.

Great weekend for two players at Valley Forge Casino

Brian N., a King of Prussia resident, won $714,000 at the Super 4 Progressive table on Oct. 9. Two days later, an unnamed player hit for $192,000.

Valley Forge Casino’s vice president and general manager David Zerfing commented on the winners:

“It was an exciting weekend, and we’re thrilled that not one, but two of our valued guests had such notable wins. As people continue to feel more comfortable in safely returning to the casino, we hope to see this trend of large jackpot winnings continue to occur often at Valley Forge.”

The Super 4 Progressive side bet wager wins when the dealer has a blackjack and the combination of the dealer’s blackjack AND the player’s two cards qualifies for the 100% progressive bonus. Additionally, any player who places a wager on the Super 4 receives an “Envy Bonus” payout when another player at the table is the winner of the 100% bonus.

Winning! Rush Street and Rivers Casino Rack Up Three Gaming Operator Awards

Rush Street Interactive, owner of Rivers Casinos in PA and BetRivers online betting products, won three operator awards for 2019.

Rush Street Interactive just keeps winning.

After being named the Global Gaming Awards Digital Operator of the Year last week, RSI added two more honors this week.

Rush Street Interactive, which operates both Rivers Casino Pittsburgh and Rivers Casino Philadelphia, was named the Casino Operator of the Year and the Customer Service Operator of the Year at the 2020 EGR North America Awards.

Big wins for Rush Street

The EGR Awards are perhaps the biggest prize in the online gaming industry and celebrate North America’s leading gaming operators.

The Casino Operator of the Year distinction is based on the originality of the company’s product, the strength of the brand, marketing and innovations that set the offering apart from competitors.

The award’s criteria focused on growth and commercial success, innovations and differentiation, quality of product, and customer acquisition and retention strategies.

“They are still the best in this group,” one of the award judges said. “They have the best platform and impressive growth.”

RSI also takes home the Customer Service Operator of the Year Award

Judges said RSI earned the Customer Service of the Year award thanks to exceptional staff engagement and a customer satisfaction strategy, continual training and development, continual measurement and efforts for retention.

“[This is] one of the best customer service teams in the US,” a judge explained. “The team is well trained and extracts more PLV [player lifetime values] from the players than most other operators.”

And as one of the other judges noted, “Rush Street Interactive’s brands have a really good reputation for customer care.”

The recent awards continue a strong couple of months for RSI, which intends to go public with an offering on the New York Stock Exchange in the near future.

Rivers Casino’s Rush Rewards Card highlights November promotions

Here in Pennsylvania, Rivers Casino Philadelphia recently announced its November promotions. Starting this Thursday, BetRivers Sportsbook at Rivers Casino Philadelphia will begin a new rewards program. The Rush Rewards Card will allow users to receive incentives and earn points for their gaming play. Reward choices include free slot play and complimentary dining at Rivers Casino restaurants.

In addition to the rewards card, the BetRivers Sportsbook will be showing every NFL game for the remainder of the season, giving players plenty of chances to catch some football action. It also plans to broadcast a number of big college games from the sportsbook.

Beyond the sportsbook, the Rivers Philly restaurants will be offering some new menu and drink items.

And there will be additional promotions, contests and sweepstakes throughout the Rivers Casino Philadelphia floor this month.

Multiple ways to engage with the RSI brand in PA

With the awards and honors continuing to pile up, it becomes pretty clear that Rush Street Interactive has built a winning brand.

Fortunately, Pennsylvania’s gaming and casino fans have an outpost to visit on each side of the state. Rivers Casino Pittsburgh lies in the west. Rivers Casino Philadelphia sits in the east. And everywhere in between, players can take advantage of the BetRivers app on their mobile device.

It’s a good time to be a Pennsylvania player with access to Rush Street betting products.

That brand just keeps winning.

Gearing Up, Live! Casino Philadelphia Begins Rolling in Slots and Table Games

The grand opening is months away, but Live! Casino Philadelphia is readying the gaming floor, installing state-of-the-art slot machines and table games.

While Live! Casino Philadelphia doesn’t have a firm opening date yet in 2021, the Stadium District facility is already installing slots and electronic table games.

Deliveries and installations began this week. Eventually, there will be more than 2,200 state-of-the-art slot machines and electronic table games at the South Philadelphia location at 900 Packer Avenue.

The machines will blend modern titles with slot classics like Lightening Links, Wheel of Fortune, Hot Shots and a full line of Quick Hits and progressives.

Installation hailed as a Live! Casino Philadelphia milestone

Joe Billhimer, executive vice president of Cordish Gaming Group, and Mario Maesano, the senior vice president of marketing for Live!, hailed the slot delivery as a milestone toward the opening.

Live! already has an online casino

And the company debuted its PlayLive! online casino in August, joining PA’s healthy online casino market.

At the other end of PA, the company has announced the opening of Live! Casino Pittsburgh for Nov. 24. The mini-casino is in a rehabbed vacant mall space.

Live! in the eastern part of PA adjoins the Philadelphia Sports Complex, which drew 8.5 million visitors a year pre-COVID-19. The casino is located directly off I-76 and I-95.

Philly Live! details

The Cordish project will also include:

  • More than 1.5 million square feet of gaming, hotel, dining and entertainment space
  • More than 150 live-action table games, including poker
  • A FanDuel sportsbook
  • An upscale 12-story hotel with more than 200 rooms
  • A parking garage

Live! partners with local food vendors

The project is playing up local connections with food purveyors:

  • Lorenzo and Sons Pizza, a South Philadelphia staple since 1970 and one of the 101 best pizzas in America as rated by The Daily Meal.
  • Sang Kee Noodle Bar & Kitchen, a collaboration between the landmark Chinatown restaurant owners Sang Kee Peking Duck House and Strother Enterprises.
  • Termini Brothers, a beloved South Philadelphia bakery with a 99-year history, that will serve cannolis, cookies and cakes.

Cordish already in Philly

While Cordish is new to gaming in PA, the company has a track record elsewhere.

And Cordish also has an established presence in Philly: It is a part of Xfinity Live! near the stadiums.

Live! is expected to provide more than 2,000 permanent jobs, as well as about 3,000 indirect jobs.

Let the games begin!

As of Thursday, another online casino has joined the Commonwealth. This makes a total of nine online casinos in Pennsylvania.

Although anyone can create a player account, you need to be physically located within the Keystone State to make wagers.

Timing of Caesars PA online casino launch

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), all 12 land-based casinos closed down in mid-March. Additionally, major sporting events being canceled directly affected and drastically reduced sports betting.

The Caesars PA online sportsbook launched on March 10. With sporting events canceled, the fledgling sportsbook brought in just $139,790 during its inaugural month. In fact, the Caesars online sportsbook suffered a loss to the tune of $18,075 when considering the promotional credits expended to attract new players.

On the other hand, PA online casino revenue in the month of March set new records at $24.3 million. Overall, online casino revenue grew by 24.5% compared to February’s revenue of $19.5 million.

PA online casino industry keeps growing

This growth bodes well for the future of the new Caesars PA online casino and the iGaming industry in Pennsylvania. With nine casinos now live and total play increasing, all signs point to a sustained growth phase for the online casino industry in PA.

With the current shutdown continuing, brick-and-mortar casinos need to curb monetary losses as much as possible. While it is a positive sign that online casino revenue is growing, overall, it is not enough to negate the daily major losses of closed casinos.

On the other hand, anything that helps is better than nothing. And most states do not have the luxury of iGaming revenue streams, as Pennsylvania does.
