Top Five NFL Most Vocal Fanbases: Where Do Steelers And Eagles Fans Rank?

The most vocal and fervent NFL fan bases add value to their teams and affect betting lines. Eagles and Steelers crowds are among the loudest.

Home field advantage starts in the stands. With the fans.

All the excitement and the energy can sometimes influence the outcome on the field.

That’s why many people believe home field is worth about three points that are built into each betting line.

Consider the betting spreads from this Sunday’s NFL games. DraftKings Sportsbook has the Eagles as 7-point favorites against the Washington Football Team in Philly. And the Steelers are only 1.5-point underdogs against the 9-4 Titans at Heinz Field.

Certainly, the Pennsylvania fans in the stands are worth a few points. But where would they rank against the rest of the league?

Most vocal (and valuable) fan bases in the NFL

Here’s a ranking of the NFL’s most vocal fan bases. And yes, perhaps Pennsylvania’s home crowds have influenced us too.

5. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium is often considered one of the toughest places to play in the entire league. Kansas City fans are certainly passionate and spirited. According to ESPN’s attendance stats, the Chiefs average above a sellout for each home game this season, with their home attendance listed at 100.4% on the season.

That means fans are consistently filling up every seat in the stadium and adding to their numbers with a standing-room-only crowd too. Just so they can cheer on their Chiefs – and maybe torment the visiting team too.

Super Bowl odds (all pricing provided by DraftKings Sportsbook): +500

4. Green Bay Packers

Go Pack, Go!

If there was ever any doubt about the dedication of Packers fans, just take a glimpse at the weather. Green Bay fans often brave some brutal late-season temperatures to root for their team, which has the distinction of being in the smallest city among all NFL franchises.

However, you would never know that based on the attendance figures. ESPN’s stats have Green Bay with the second-highest average home attendance this season, drawing approximately 78,032 fans per game. Clearly, whatever Green Bay may lack in market size, the Packers fans make up for in fervor.

Super Bowl odds: +650

3. Dallas Cowboys

How bout them Cowboys?!

It doesn’t matter what state you live in, you can’t make it very far without running into a Dallas Cowboys fan. Dallas has been one of the NFL’s most iconic franchises since the 1970s and has held onto that status even though the on-field results are often mixed.

Dallas fans are both loud and loyal. According to an ESPN attendance stat, the Cowboys lead the league this year in average attendance drawing 93,404 fans on average per home game. Their attendance rate is also listed at an impressive 93.4%.

Super Bowl odds: +1200

2. Pittsburgh Steelers

The mere mention of Steelers fans spawns images of Terrible Towels twirling in a stadium. Thanks to the team’s storied success in the 1970s, when football was making some of its early forays into television, Pittsburgh’s fan base is truly nationwide.

In fact, the team’s Week 11 game in Los Angeles felt at times like a home game, with a healthy number of Steelers fans waving towels inside SoFi Stadium. And you can certainly expect a raucous crowd inside Heinz Field on Sunday when the Steelers host the Titans at 1 p.m.

Super Bowl odds: +20000

1.  Philadelphia Eagles

Any legitimate ranking of the NFL’s most vocal fans has to put the Eagles near the top, right? After all, this is the fan base that became famous for booing Santa Claus. And if that wasn’t enough, fans threw snowballs at him too. Eagles fans are unmistakably loud – and perhaps occasionally hostile too. But there’s no denying their passion.

Philadelphia’s average attendance for its home games at Lincoln Financial Field is at 99.9% for the season. And with the team on the edge of the NFL playoff race, there will be some spirited fans in the stadium when the Eagles play Washington at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The Washington Football Team will certainly hear from them too and you can bet the line reflects a strong home field advantage.

Super Bowl odds: +10000

Eagles Bye Week Betting Guide: Wagers to Keep Your Weekend Action-Packed

You’re gonna miss it.

The Philadelphia Eagles have a bye this week.

NFL Week 14 seems a little sad. Sunday Funday suddenly lacks a little excitement. In fact, some of the disappointment may even drag into Saturday, with the weekend feeling just a little bit empty.

But we’re here to help.

Eagles Bye Week Betting Guide

There are plenty of other games to wager on this weekend. And some interesting wagers from the top sports betting apps in PA can add a whole lot of fun.

Here are a few things to consider as you prepare for a weekend without the Eagles.

You can start the wagering Saturday with a bet on the annual meeting of our nation’s service academies. Army and Navy have played this game in Philadelphia 89 times, but this year the game will once again be played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Last year, Army hosted the contest at its home stadium).

DraftKings Sportsbook has the Black Knights as 7-point favorites in this year’s game, which will be broadcast at 3 p.m. on CBS. The game’s moneyline prices are as follows:

Army: -305
Navy: +240

The over/under for the matchup is set at 34.5. You can also wager on quarters, halves or team totals as well.

Sixers vs. Steph Curry Record

The Philadelphia 76ers face the Golden State Warriors in a nationally broadcast game on Saturday night at 8:30 pm. But the most interesting storyline won’t be the game’s final score.

Warriors guard Steph Curry enters the contest just 9 three-pointers away from tying Ray Allen for the NBA career record. His brother Seth plays for Philadelphia. And his parents are expected to attend. There’s no doubt that Curry would love to tie – or even break – the record with all of them watching.

Game lines for the Saturday game should be posted on Friday.

Root against all the NFC Teams around the Eagles

Heading into the weekend, the Philadelphia Eagles are “On the Bubble” of the NFC’s Playoff Picture. The Eagles are currently in eighth place in the conference and third place in the NFC East.

Here are some betting lines for a few matchups that could improve Philadelphia’s position:

Cowboys (8-4, 1st in NFC East) vs. Washington (6-6, 2nd in NFC East); 1 p.m. on FOX

A Washington win tightens the race in the NFC East. A Dallas win gives Washington the same record as Philadelphia. Either scenario helps the Eagles, so perhaps it makes sense to place a wager simply for a rooting interest.

New Orleans Saints (5-7, No. 12 in the NFC Playoff Picture) at New York Jets; 1 p.m on CBS

Minnesota tied the Eagles 6-7 record with a 36-28 win over Pittsburgh last night on Thursday Night Football.

The 5-7 Panthers (NFC No. 10) and 5-7 Falcons (NFC No. 11) play each other on Sunday, which will keep one team from reaching Philadelphia’s six-win mark. But the 5-7 Saints could also tie the Eagles win total with a win over the New York Jets on Sunday. So it’s an easy one for Philly fans. J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets!

San Francisco (6-6, No. 7 in the NFC Playoff Picture) vs. Cincinnati; 4:25 p.m. on CBS

The 49ers currently own the final playoff spot in the NFC. But a loss in Cincinnati leaves them tied with Philadelphia with four games to go. So this is another easy one for Eagles fans. Root, root, root for the Bengals.

Philadelphia returns to the field next Sunday with a home matchup at 1 p.m. against the Washington Football Team. But in the meantime, check out the best NFL betting app odds in Pennsylvania to keep you in the game.

You might miss the Eagles this weekend.

But don’t miss out on the fun.

Colin Cowherd Whiffed on Ravens, Eagles and Steelers in 2020 NFL Predictions

Colin Cowherd went 40-41-2 on his 2020 Blazin’ 5 NFL picks, but also predicted Ravens to go undefeated, Eagles to win NFC East, and Steelers to struggle.

The NFL’s regular season ended but checking on Colin Cowherd‘s choices has not.

Each week, PAOC posts  Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 picks and analysis then reviews them on Monday (or Tuesday). The host of “The Herd” and one of the personalities used to promote the Fox Bet sportsbook app posted a 40-41-2 record for the 2020 NFL season.

Before the NFL kicked off, Cowherd made a number of predictions.

How did they turn out?  We kept the receipts (the Tweets) and compared what he said to what actually happened.

Cowherd’s preseason predictions

  1. The Raiders went 8-8, a one-game improvement from 7-9 in 2019.
  2. With Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski in Tampa Bay, the Patriots finished  7-9, their worst record since 2000.
  3. Before he went down with a season-ending knee injury in Week 11, Joe Burrow threw for 2,688 yards, 13 TDs and 5 INTs. He was on pace to break Andrew Luck’s rookie record (4,374) for most passing yards.
  4. They did not but the Ravens (11-5) are on a five-game winning streak heading into the playoffs.
  5. Dak Prescott suffered a gruesome leg injury in Week 5 and the Cowboys finished a below-average 6-10.

Colin Cowherd’s 2020 NFL Playoff Predictions

Cowherd went with the chalk for his NFL playoff predictions.

Cowherd’s preseason picks and Fox Bet odds

Cowherd correctly picked two of four AFC Division champs. He picked one of three Wild Card teams.

NFC playoff predictions:

NFC East: Philadelphia Eagles (+150)
NFC North: Minnesota Vikings (+160) favorite
NFC South: New Orleans Saints (-111) favorite
NFC West: San Francisco 49ers (+110) favorite

To make playoffs:

Green Bay Packers: Yes (-138), No (+115)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Yes (-225), No (+180)

NFC South: New Orleans Saints
NFC West: Seattle Seahawks

NFC Wild Card:

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Los Angeles Rams
  • Chicago Bears

Cowherd correctly picked one of four NFC Division champs. He picked one of three Wild Card teams.

Cowherd’s other NFL predictions

Ravens will go undefeated

DraftKings offered the market for six teams. The Ravens’ odds to go 16-0 were +2500; only the Kansas City Chiefs (+2200) had better odds.

According to Cowherd, there are three “great rosters” in the NFL this year: San Francisco, Kansas City and Baltimore.

“I’ve never said this in my life, [but] Baltimore is the two scariest things in football: stacked and pissed,” he said. “Lamar Jackson is the only MVP in my lifetime where people have said the following year they think he will regress. Half the league doesn’t buy into Lamar Jackson.”

The Ravens finished 11-5, and the Chiefs 14-2.

Eagles are the class of the NFC East

LOL. The Eagles finished last in a historically awful NFC East.

Patriots will struggle

Cowherd said the Patriots were going to be a “really bad football team” and win 5 or 6 games. The Patriots exceeded Cowherd’s prognostication (7-9).

Trubisky trouble

Cowherd said it was time for the Bears to admit they whiffed on quarterback Mitchell Trubisky and move on.

This looked like an early, easy layup for Cowherd when Trubisky was benched during Week 3 in favor of Nick Foles. But Trubisky got the job back when Foles was injured at the end of November. The 8-8 Bears visit New Orleans during Wild Card weekend as 10-point underdogs.

Wrong on the Steelers

Cowherd forecasted  a 7-9 record for the Steelers.

He continued disrespecting the Steelers calling them the “worst 11-0 team ever” back when they were still undefeated. Pittsburgh won the AFC North and will host the Browns in the Wild Card round as 6-point favorites Sunday night.

Did Colin Cowherd Win? Bad Week For Brady, Favorites and Most of Colin’s Picks

Colin Cowherd backed the favorites in his Week Nine Blazin’ 5 NFL picks, but Russell Wilson, Tom Brady, Kyler Murray and Washington all let him down.

It was a rough Week Nine for Colin Cowherd and Tom Brady.

After two winning weeks, Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 picks went an awful 1-4. His “Boom Bet,” which would have tripled Fox Bet sportsbook app users’ money, proved to be an early bust.

Cowherd picked Brady to throw for more yards than Drew Brees and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to win their Sunday Night matchup with the New Orleans Saints. Brady threw three picks and suffered a 38-3 drubbing, one of the worst losses of his career.

No dancing Cowherd

Last week on “The Herd,” Cowherd said he was “turned off” by Denver quarterback Drew Lock’s game-winning celebration dance after the Broncos’ 31-30 comeback win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

“We have a new cool guy,” he said on “The Herd” on Friday. “He’s too silly, too showboaty, too cool like Manziel, Baker, Cam and Jameis Winston. I was right about them. Four-for-four about to be five-for-five. I’m not into Drew Lock. Win more games, Cub Scout.”

Although he didn’t include the Broncos in his Week Nine Blazin’ 5 picks, he made a bet with Lock.

“All I’m going to ask you this week is to beat crappy Atlanta. If you beat Atlanta, crappy Atlanta … dancing is allowed for the rest of the season with no criticism.”

Co-host Joy Taylor said she thought Cowherd was going to offer to dance.

“And I will dance a little on Monday if you win,” Cowherd said about Lock.

The Falcons beat the Broncos 34-27. Cowherd doesn’t have to dance for Lock, but he did recently join Tik Tok, so it doesn’t mean he won’t pull out some moves.

Colin Cowherd 2020 Week Nine NFL picks

Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 airs Friday on The Herd at 1 p.m. EST. We break down his picks for you here and follow up on Monday with his results.

If Fox Bet Sportsbook users wager on Cowherd’s “Boom Bet” and it wins, they usually quadruple their winnings.

“We are very very hot right now,” said Cowherd, who went 4-1 last week.

“I don’t think I’ve ever taken five favorites,” he said after giving out his Week Nine Blazin’ 5 picks. “It’s a different year. Different stuff is happening. and I really like the favorites this week. Some of them are ugly favorites. Washington is hard to stomach, but the Giants are on a short week.”

Seattle Seahawks (-3) vs. Buffalo Bills

Cowherd’s pick: Seahawks

Colin’s final score: Seahawks 33, Bills 26

Cowherd said:

“Don’t worry about the East Coast. Seattle is on a 10-game winning streak in the Eastern Time Zone. Russell Wilson is the best player on the planet. Josh Allen has not played well for a couple of weeks (four TDs, five turnovers in the last four games). The Bills defense is not good enough to beat good teams right now. They beat one good team all year, the Raiders. The Rams don’t count; they got an officiating break on one of the last calls of the game. They are the third team in NFL history to be 6-2 and have a negative point differential. Little bit of fools gold.”

Actual final score: Bills 44, Seahawks 34

Did Colin win? No

Baltimore Ravens (-2.5) vs. Indianapolis Colts

Colin’s pick: Ravens

Colin’s final score: Ravens 27, Colts 20

Cowherd said:

“The Ravens have a huge advantage at quarterback. When you have Lamar Jackson, you can roll the pocket, quarterback draws, throw it downfield. The last couple years, he’s been good on the road. Let’s not freak out. They had 460 total yards against the Steelers. He made mistakes, and he has regressed, but you can do things with Lamar Jackson you can’t do with Phillip Rivers. I have questions about the Colts; think they have a low ceiling. I don’t trust them, and their defense is very reliant on Darius Leonard.”

Actual final score: Ravens 24, Colts 10

Did Colin win? Yes

New York Giants vs. Washington (-3)

Colin’s pick: Washington

Colin’s final score: Washington 24, Giants 17

Cowherd said:

“Washington is off a bye, and the Giants are coming off a short week. You know I always love that. The Giants are coming off an emotional last play of the game loss. Washington’s defense is fantastic, and we knew it would be. Daniel Jones has 36 turnovers the last two years, the most in the NFL. I think it comes down to an ugly, choppy game. Kyle Allen won’t turn it over, and I believe Daniel Jones will.”

Actual final score: Giants 23, Washington 20

Did Colin win? No

Miami Dolphins vs. Arizona Cardinals (-4.5)

Colin’s pick: Cardinals

Colin’s final score: Cardinals 30, Dolphins 22

Cowherd said:

“Like Arizona, I love Arizona. They are off a bye. Miami, 3,000-mile flight cross-country. Tua last week was at home with two weeks to prepare and was very comfortable. Now he is going to be in a shootout. Arizona off a bye is going to put a lot of points up. Their offense is first in total yards per game, rush ypg and second in rushing TDs. The Dolphins had 154 total yards last week. I think this comes down to Arizona rested, healthier and Tua forced to play at a higher rate.”

Actual final score: Dolphins 34, Cardinals 31

Did Colin win? No

New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-5.5)

BOOM BET: Triple your money if Tom Brady has more passing yards than Drew Brees in a Tampa Bay win.

Colin’s pick: Buccaneers

Colin’s final score: Buccaneers 30, Saints 21

Cowherd said:

“Really like Tom Brady and the Bucs here. Why were they so flat on Monday Night Football? They were looking ahead. Brady and Brees — the difference is one of them is really good right now. The Bucs have the best point differential in the NFL and the best turnover differential since losing to the Saints in Week One. Take the first game out. The Tampa defense is number one in the NFL. They also have the ability with A.B. to throw in the slot, up the sidelines. Right now Tampa is an offense with no limitations. Brees missed practice yesterday and is banged up.”

Actual final score: Saints 38, Buccaneers 3

Did Colin win? No

Did Colin Cowherd Win? We’re Shook: TikTok’s Newest Member’s Picks Are Near Perfect

Colin Cowherd went 4-1 in his Blazin’ 5 Week Eight picks, with the underdog Dolphins and Broncos both coming in to make his Fox Bet Boom Bet a winner.

Of the WTFs in 2020, Colin Cowherd joining TikTok falls somewhere below murder hornets but above the “Is it a cake?” challenge.

The comments were immediately flooded with Liv Cowherd fans.

I joined TikTok for you, PA Online Casino readers, so I can continue to follow Colin Cowherd. He has not posted a dance video … yet. Liv Cowherd’s TikTok is much more entertaining.

Cowherd had a scorching 4-1 Week Eight record. We won’t fault him if he wants to do a celebratory dance.

His Boom Bet turned out to be a winner, too. Fox Bet sportsbook app users were able to make 7X their money, since the Dolphins and Broncos both won.

Los Angeles Rams vs. Miami Dolphins (+4)

Cowherd’s pick: Dolphins

Colin’s final score: Dolphins 27, Rams 26

Cowherd said:

“The Dolphins are in a great spot here. I think it’s gonna be an ugly game. The Rams, on a short week, have to fly east and play an early game. The Dolphins are well-coached, and they are coming off a bye. Miami is going to be limited with Tua, but they know what he can do. The Rams don’t even have tape to look at; they have to look at Alabama tape. The Dolphins defense has allowed 8.5 ppg the past two weeks. Upset. Tua wins but won’t be the story. The Rams playing poorly will be the story.”

Actual final score: Dolphins 28, Rams 17

Did Colin win? Yes

Tennessee Titans (-6.5) vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Colin’s pick: Titans

Colin’s final score: Titans 38, Bengals 24

Cowherd said:

“The Bengals have some injuries this week and are kind of falling apart. A week ago, we thought Tennessee may be the best team in the league. Because they lost to the Steelers, they aren’t at least a touchdown better than Cincinnati? The Titans are the fourth-highest-scoring team in the league. Ryan Tannehill leads in passer rating. The Bengals defense is bad, getting worse and injured. I think the Titans win going away.”

Actual final score: Bengals 31, Titans 20

Did Colin win? No

Indianapolis Colts (-3) vs. Detroit Lions

Colin’s pick: Colts

Colin’s final score: Colts 27, Lions 20

Cowherd said:

“We like really good coaches off a bye. Frank Reich, twice in his career off a bye, is 2-0 and gets a Detroit team that got outplayed most of the game by Atlanta. The Colts have allowed six sacks all year. They run the ball and protect the quarterback. Their defense is excellent. Detroit’s lost six straight home games, and they are really bad against the run. That’s what the Colts want to do this weekend. I think this is a fairly low-scoring game.”

Actual final score: Colts 41, Lions 21

Did Colin win? Yes

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Denver Broncos (+3.5)

Colin’s pick: Broncos

Colin’s final score: Broncos 28, Chargers 27

Cowherd said:

“It’s the hook. Justin Herbert is really talented, but he has never played in that altitude. Vic Fangio is one of the best defensive minds, and Denver has got all sorts of talent. It feels like the season for the Broncos. Their defense since Week Four has been really good, top five in everything. The Chargers wins are over the Bengals and Jags. I like Herbert a lot, but this is a rookie quarterback without a preseason, a handful of starts, playing against a very good defense.”

Actual final score: Broncos 31, Chargers 30

Did Colin win? Yes

San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks (-3)

Colin’s pick: Seahawks

Colin’s final score: Seahawks 28, 49ers 21

Cowherd said:

“I’m from Seattle and rarely pick Seattle to win. Jamal Adams comes back, and that’s really good for Seattle. The Niners are falling apart. Seattle’s offense is as good as it’s ever been. The offensive line is much better than people thought. Seattle does not want to lose two in a row in this division. I think they come back and play one of their games of the year.”

Actual final score: Seahawks 37, 49ers 27

Did Colin Cowherd Win? He’s Back In The Win Column, But Boom Bet Fizzles Again

Colin Cowherd is over the underdogs in Week Seven, putting four of his five Blazin’ 5 NFL picks on favorites to cover and the Steelers to upset the Titans.

Is Colin Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 heating up?

He posted his first winning record since Week Three.

Cowherd rode the favorites and the unbeaten Pittsburgh Steelers to a 3-2 Week Seven record. His “Boom Bet” fell short when the Arizona Cardinals upset the Seattle Seahawks in overtime.

When he made the picks, Cowherd said:

“I am generally not someone who takes favorites, but the league is changing and there is more offense. Gotta move around. The Rams pick, most of the wise guys in Vegas probably hate it, but I think Chicago lacks juice.”

His prognostication proved to be correct as the Chicago Bears fell flat on Monday Night Football.

Green Bay Packers (-3.5) vs. Houston Texans

Cowherd’s pick: Packers

Colin’s final score: Packers 40, Texans 23

Cowherd said:

“Favorite pick of the week. I like good teams who get humiliated on national TV games. They are focused, and they’ll play great this week. The Packers have two turnovers all year, both against Tampa’s defense. The Texans’ defense is horrific. They’ve given up more big plays than any NFL defense this year. Packers hammer the Texans. “

Actual final score: Packers 35, Texans 20

Did Colin win? Yes

Pittsburgh Steelers (+2) vs. Tennessee Titans

Colin’s pick: Steelers

Colin’s final score: Steelers 28, Titans 23

Cowherd said:

“I have a rule: Take a really good team getting points. I’m taking the Steelers to win. The Titans have two big issues. Their left tackle Taylor Lewan is out, and you do not want to be missing a Pro Bowl-level left tackle against the Steelers. The Titans are last in the NFL on third down defense. They don’t have a pass rush and teams extend drives. Big Ben is having an extraordinary season — his best completion percentage, passer rating and touchdown to INT ratio.”

Actual final score: Steelers 27, Titans 24

Did Colin win? Yes

Carolina Panthers vs. New Orleans Saints (-7.5)

Colin’s pick: Saints

Colin’s final score: Saints 30, Panthers 23

Cowherd said:

“That’s a hook number. Everybody usually likes the team getting 7.5. I like veteran quarterbacks and great coaches off a bye. They are 3-1 in those games. Drew Brees is completing 71% of this throws and leads the NFL. Carolina’s defense has five sacks, fewest in the NFL. The Saints have a had a couple of weeks to prepare for Teddy Bridgewater, a quarterback they practiced against for years. Carolina is getting better but is limited defensively.”

Actual final score: Saints 27, Panthers 24

Did Colin win? No

Seattle Seahawks (-3.5) vs. Arizona Cardinals

Boom Bet: $20 bet pays $50 — Russell Wilson has two or more passing TDs and Seahawks to win

Colin’s pick: Seahawks

Colin’s final score: Seahawks 34, Cardinals 24

Cowherd said:

“Seattle off a bye is 4-0. Arizona, a young inconsistent team, is on a short week. A young team who beat the Dallas Cowboys everyone is telling ‘You the man!’ Russell Wilson has owned no team in the NFL like Arizona. He’s played them eight times and only lost once, and it was his first NFL start.”

Actual final score: Cardinals 37, Seahawks 34

Did Colin win? No

Chicago Bears vs. Los Angeles Rams (-6)

Colin’s pick: Rams

Colin’s final score: Rams 28, Bears 20

Cowherd said:

“I’m the last living American who likes the Rams. Chicago is limited offensively. We thought when they got Nick Foles they would be better. The problem is he’s has one or more interception in five straight games. That’s the longest stretch in the NFL. The Bears’ offense is 27th in PPG and 28th in total YPG, yards per play and rush YPG. The Rams’ defense is better than people think. They’ve moved Jalen Ramsey all over the field. I know no one likes Jared Goff, but he has the highest passer rating of anyone in the fourth quarter. I think it’s a close, ugly game.”

Actual final score: Rams 24, Bears 10

Did Colin win? Yes

Did Colin Cowherd Win? Picks Fall Flat Again With Broncos Upset, Eagles Rally and Buccaneers Rout

The Pittsburgh Steelers and SF 49ers were the lone bright spots for Colin Cowherd in his Week Six Blazin’ 5 picks, and one was his Boom Bet at Fox Bet.

Colin Cowherd said it was a weekend of clarity in the NFL. What seems clear so far with his Blazin 5′ picks is that they are unreliable. He followed up an awful 1-4 Week Five with a subpar 2-3 Week Six.

“Coming off a crappy week, it’s time to get my act together,” Cowherd said before revealing his Week Six picks.

Maybe next time, Colin.

Hot takes from Colin Cowherd this week

Maybe Tom Brady wasn’t in the mood to shake Nick Foles’ hand. No big deal.

Carson Wentz and Travis Fulgham, you’ve been warned.

Justin Herbert is the next star quarterback in the NFL.

The Bills offense is so much fun.

Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (-4)

BOOM BET: Steelers beat the Browns and Roethlisberger throws for 300 yards boosted from (+240) to +300.

Cowherd’s pick: Steelers

Colin’s final score: Steelers 28, Browns 21

“Baker Mayfield is not 100%, and that leads me to believe they will keep him out of the crosshairs and have a conservative game plan. Big Ben has owned the Browns. His career at home versus Cleveland, he’s 11-0 with a 103.5 passer rating. The Steelers lead the NFL with 20 sacks and 70 pressures. Their rush defense is great and will force Baker to play fast, and he doesn’t play well fast. “

Actual final score: Steelers 38, Browns 7

Did Colin win? Yes (but Roethlisberger did not throw for 300 yards). So the Boom Bet was a bust.

Denver Broncos vs. New England Patriots (-9.5)

Colin’s pick: Patriots

Colin’s final score: Patriots 32, Broncos 16

Cowherd said:

“Like New England, I love New England. Don’t fight it, young quarterbacks get annihilated by Belichick. Patrick Mahomes struggled with him. Drew Lock is not 100%, and he is going to struggle. Denver is awful at Foxboro. The Patriots average 39 points a game and are 5-0 since 2008, with a massive turnover differential. I love New England in a blowout.”

Actual final score: Broncos 18, Patriots 12

Did Colin win? No

Baltimore Ravens (-7.5) vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Colin’s pick: Ravens

Colin’s final score: Ravens 33, Eagles 23

Cowherd said:

“Baltimore is not as dynamic offensively as last year. But their defense has been great at creating turnovers (second in NFL). They are top 5 in sacks. Lane Johnson missed this week. The Eagles continue to struggle with help at o-line and wide receivers. The Ravens have won 13 games by 14 or more since the start of last season; don’t sell all your stock. The Eagles are feisty but remain turnover plagued on offense. John Harbaugh wants to get this offense back. If he leads, he will pile it on.”

Actual final score: Ravens 30, Eagles 28

Did Colin win? No

Green Bay Packers (-1) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Colin’s pick: Packers

Colin’s final score: Packers 27, Buccaneers 24

Cowherd said:

“I know a lot of wise guys like the Buccaneers, but I’ll take Green Bay. The Packers do multiple things, but one thing very well. You can’t get to Aaron Rodgers, and they get to your quarterback. He will be the more comfortable quarterback. The Packers are the most explosive offense yards per play in the league. Davante Adams is back. I still think this is an offense in Tampa that is growing, with Godwin and Evans still not 100%.”

Actual final score: Buccaneers 38, Packers 10

Did Colin win? No

Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers (+3.5)

Colin’s pick: 49ers

Colin’s final score: 49ers 26, Rams 24

Cowherd said:

“What do I always say? Bet a well-coached team that was humiliated the week before. This division is the best in football. This is the season for the Niners. If they don’t win this weekend, they are in an uphill battle for a wild card spot. Their defense is still playing good football despite what you saw last week. They are top 5 in total YPG and pass TD allowed. They still run the football well, they are still well-coached, they still play really good defense. The Rams are a good football team, but the urgency here is on the Niners. It’s the game of the season and they have to win. I’m calling an upset.”

Actual final score: 49ers 24, Rams 16

Did Colin Cowherd Win? Another One-Win Week and a Busted Boom Bet

Colin Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 NFL picks at Fox Bet Sportsbook went down in flames in Week Five, with only the Vikings covering for him (vs. the Seahawks).

Maybe he should call it the “Not-So-Hot 1.” Colin Cowherd’s Blazin 5′ turned in another one-win week of picks.

Despite swearing off betting the Atlanta Falcons after Week One, Cowherd chose them as his “Boom Bet,” which allows Fox Bet Sportsbook users to quadruple their winnings (if the bet wins). It was also the second straight week his “Boom Bet” didn’t only fail to cover, but lost outright.

It was a rough week for Cowherd, but he will be taking consolation in and bragging about correctly predicting the final score of the Minnesota Vikings vs. Seattle Seahawks game.

Cowherd changes tune on Wentz

Cowherd ripped Carson Wentz for wearing his hat backward during a press conference. After the Eagles beat the 49ers, he called Wentz “Houdini.”

He actually stood up for Wentz and turned his taunts to an unnamed reporter, who asked head coach Doug Pederson if he would consider benching Wentz.

“Carson Wentz is in first place. For the third year in a row, he’s dealing with absolutely nightmarish personnel. If Wentz’s career was a cooking show, it would be ‘Chopped.’ He has to take these weird ingredients and make a meal out of it every week. That’s what he’s done in a city that is not very forgiving, and the pressure is enormous.”

Hot takes from Colin Cowherd this week

The Dallas Cowboys are “outdated” and a “bad team.” (The Cowboys are 1-3. Their Super Bowl odds at the start of the season were +1500, they are now +3000.)

“Brady is the greatest comeback QB of all time.” (Brady ranks second of all time for most fourth-quarter comebacks.)

Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy’s divorce is lopsided. Rodgers is 17-3 without him.

“Tom Brady is slightly better than Nick Foles, but Foles is way more clutch.”

Colin Cowherd’s 2020 Week 5 NFL picks

Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 airs on “The Herd” on Fridays at 1 p.m. EST. We break down his picks for you here and follow up on Monday with his results.

If Fox Bet users wager on Cowherd’s “Boom Bet” and it wins, they can quadruple their winnings.

Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons (-2.5)

BOOM BET. It has an added dimension to it this week. Colin’s Week Five Boom Bet is Matt Ryan to throw for 300+ yards in an Atlanta win. A $20 bet would bring back $70.

Cowherd’s pick: Falcons

Colin’s final score: Falcons 33, Panthers 27

Cowherd said:

“Matt Ryan versus Carolina in his last five home games is 5-0 and averages 342 ypg. Carolina’s defense is ranked 31st on third downs, they have the fewest sacks and the second-worst scoring defense. This is a bad defense. I don’t think Atlanta has quit on their coach. Their passing offense is still robust, and they are a desperate team. This is an easy one for me. I like Atlanta to score enough points on what I believe is the second-worst defense in the NFL.”

*Cowherd’s co-host Joy Taylor correctly pointed that out that he swore off betting on the Falcons after Week One.

“I like that bet, but you can’t quit them,” said Taylor.

Actual final score: Panthers 23, Falcons 16

Did Colin win? No

Jacksonville Jaguars (+6) vs. Houston Texans

Colin’s pick: Jaguars

Colin’s final score: Jaguars 27, Texans 26

Cowherd said:

“I couldn’t tell you the last time I took Jacksonville. Between Gardner Minshew and James Robinson, they’ve got a pretty pesky little offense. Teams that fire their coach midseason are 2-6 ATS the following week. They have real issues in Houston. Their offensive line is awful. Deshaun Watson is the most-sacked quarterback in the league, and he escapes sacks. I do not believe you can correct a bad offensive line in-season.”

Actual final score: Texans 30, Jaguars 14

Did Colin win? No

Los Angeles Rams vs. Washington (+7.5)

Colin’s pick: Washington

Colin’s final score: Washington 24, Rams 23

Cowherd said:

“Third East Coast road trip already for the Rams, who play rival San Francisco next week and could be looking ahead. There is a way to disrupt Sean McVay’s offense, and it’s pressure. Chase Young is back, and the Washington defense is top-three in sacks with 14. Kyle Allen isn’t great, but he is efficient, and when he started last year over Cam Newton, he went 4-0 in his first four starts until the world got film on him. Ron Rivera is telling you they can win the division with our defense, we just can’t make mistakes. Kyle Allen makes fewer mistakes. I’m calling an upset here. Good defensive lines have disrupted McVay’s running offenses since he’s been in LA.”

*Big public fade here. At FanDuel, the Rams have the highest percentage (86%) of handle for moneyline.

Actual final score: Rams 30, Washington 10

Did Colin win? No

Indianapolis Colts (-1) vs. Cleveland Browns

Colin’s pick: Colts

Colin’s final score: Colts 26, Browns 23

Cowherd said:

“Like the Colts, I love them. The Browns are coming off their biggest national TV win in a decade. The Colts defense leads the NFL in everything. The Browns’ three wins have come against teams whose records are 3-8-1. Their defense is awful, and Dallas couldn’t expose it at the right time. Rivers may be limited, but with this offensive line, he is completing almost 73% of his passes. The Colts have the better O-line, the better defense and Cleveland is highly emotional coming off that win against the Cowboys.”

Actual final score: Browns 32, Colts 23

Did Colin win? No

Minnesota Vikings (+7)  vs. Seattle Seahawks

Colin’s pick: Vikings

Colin’s final score: Seahawks 27, Vikings 26

Cowherd said:

“I know. Don’t bet against Russell Wilson. Chicago won last night. The Packers are winning. This is a must-win for Minnesota. Say what you want about Kirk Cousins on Monday Night Football, on Sunday Night Football, he’s been good. He’s 4-2 with 117 passer rating. Justin Jefferson is the next superstar wide receiver in this league. The Seahawks defense is atrocious. They are on pace to allow the most yards of any team in the Super Bowl era. This is an offense that is stacked with weapons. Russell Wilson does something miraculous to pull a ‘w’ out of an ‘l,’ but I’m going to take Minnesota +7.”

Actual final score: Seahawks 27, Vikings 26

Did Colin win? Yes (he even correctly predicted the final score)

Did Colin Cowherd Win? Week 3 a Scorching 4-1 as Bills Come Through for Boom Bet, Bengals Cover With Tie

Colin Cowherd loved his NFL Week 3 picks, and he went 4-1, cashing in on a Bengals tie vs. the Eagles and on the Buffalo Bills, who hung on to win by 3.

If you think Colin Cowherd is an insufferable blowhard, this might not be the best week to tune into The Herd. Cowherd had a scorching week of Blazin’ 5 picks, going 4-1.

His “Boom Bet” (Bills -2.5), which Fox Bet online sportsbook boosts at 4X odds, hit for the second straight week. He called for the Bengals (+5) to upset the Eagles, and the game ended in a tie.

Cowherd’s hat-backward hating of Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz might be a silly thing to call out a pro athlete for, but he also ripped the quarterback’s poor play this season. Wentz only gave his doubters more fuel with a two-interception performance where he looked like he had lost all confidence and was outplayed by Bengals rookie Joe Burrow.

How often does Colin post a Blazin’ 5 4-win week? In 2019, it happened five times. However, his overall record through the course of a 17-week season was 42-41-3. So yes, he had four 1-4 weeks and one awful no-win Week 17 that contributed to the final tally.

Cowherd calls out Wentz’s play and headwear

Through two weeks, Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 picks are a tepid 4-6.

But Cowherd was fired up about Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz and his choice of headwear. Cowherd believes that as a franchise quarterback during a weekly press conference in front of the team and corporate logos, Wentz should not wear his hat backward.

Most of Twitter panned Cowherd’s take and posted pictures of other athletes, like Tom Brady, Russell Wilson and Ken Griffey Jr., wearing a backward hat.

On Friday, Cowherd said, dripping with sarcasm, “Fans ripped me. It was very hurtful. I didn’t sleep last night. I barely closed my eyes.”

He then doubled down.

“I believe in life that time, place, location and assignment matter. If you want to wear your hat on backwards in your yard, I don’t care. If you are a quarterback and you have your once-a-week podium discussion, and the Philadelphia Eagles are brilliantly owned, respectfully built … and you’re telling me this (turns hat backward) … is no different for a face of the franchise than this (turns hat forward)?”

He then named Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports and the newly launched Barstool Sportsbook app in PA, and said they “ravaged” him  about his Wentz take. Cowherd mentioned Portnoy’s wardrobe choices and aggressive personality and how, when he interviewed President Donald Trump, he wore a suit and didn’t curse. He then said:

“Assignment, location and time matters. Most of you won’t be as successful as Carson Wentz or Dave, so you just don’t get it.”

Cowherd brought on T.J. Houshmanzadeh, who joined the Wentz-bashing and said, “If he loses this week to the Bengals, it’s a wrap. His confidence is going to be completely gone. ”

Colin Cowherd’s 2020 Week 3 NFL picks

Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 airs on The Herd on Fridays at around 1 p.m. EST. We break down his picks for you here and follow up on Monday with his results.

“I LOVE my picks this week,” he said before and after making them.

Los Angeles Rams vs. Buffalo Bills (-2.5)

Cowherd’s pick: Bills

Colin’s final score: Bills 27, Rams 21

Cowherd said:

“This is a really strong play. Like it, I love it. Buffalo as a home favorite is 12-2 in the last three years. They are the only team in the league that’s top five offense and defense. You see the improvement of young Josh Allen. Only the Patriots have allowed fewer points per game than the Bills since the start of last year. Their run defense is exceptional, and that’s what the Rams rely on. This will force Jared Goff to throw on the road more than he is comfortable with.”

Week 1, Colin bet against the Bills and went with the Jets (+6.5).

“Josh Allen was bad last year,” he said. “He was pretty good against Dallas, and that’s the game you watched. Josh Allen was last in passing yards, passing touchdowns, completion percentage and passer rating the last two years.”

Week 2, he bet against the Bills and went with Miami (+5.5), and said:

“The Bills averaged 19 points last year. They are still babysitting Josh Allen.”

Actual final score: Bills 35, Rams 32

Did Colin win? Yes

Las Vegas Raiders vs. New England Patriots (-5.5)

Colin’s pick: Patriots

Colin’s final score: Patriots 34, Raiders 26

Cowherd said:

“The best team in the NFL after a loss is New England. They are 27-8 in the last decade. The Raiders are on a short week and have to travel across the country after maybe the biggest Raider win in years. The Raiders do something very poorly; they allow six-and-half yards per play. They don’t give a ton over the top, but you can slice them up six yards at a time. What does Cam and the New England offense do well? Get six yards at a time. This will be a dominant New England time-of-possession game. They will six yard the Raiders to death.”

Actual final score: Patriots 36, Raiders 20

Did Colin win? Yes

Cincinnati Bengals (+5) vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Colin’s pick: Bengals

Colin’s final score: Bengals 27, Eagles 24

Cowherd said:

“Upset of the week. Remember, no fans in Philadelphia. Young quarterback Joe Burrow isn’t facing the rowdy Eagles crowd, he’s getting five points and they played on Thursday. Carson Wentz has been all over the board in the last six games, eight sacks, four picks this year, both tied for the most of any quarterback. I don’t know if Philadelphia’s locker room is good. They also have the most giveaways this year. This is a Philadelphia team that is in flux. It is a strangely confident 0-2 Bengals team. They upset the Eagles in a fanless stadium.”

Actual final score: Bengals 23, Eagles 23

Did Colin win? Yes

Houston Texans (+4.5) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Colin’s pick: Texans

Colin’s final score: Steelers 27, Texans 26

Cowherd said:

“I love Houston in this spot. We are judging them because they lost to Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. Everybody’s going to lose to them. The Steelers still make too many mistakes and have at least one giveaway in 25 straight games. The Steelers’ offensive line run-blocking this year has been atrocious. It means you are going to give Deshaun Watson 12 to 14 possessions, and the number here is just simply too big. Houston is going to feel desperate.”

Actual final score: Steelers 28, Texans 21

Did Colin win? No

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-6) vs. Denver Broncos

Colin’s pick: Buccaneers

Colin’s final score: Buccaneers 27, Broncos 17

Cowherd said:

“Like it, I love it. Since the start of last season, when Drew Lock doesn’t play, the Broncos are 3-8. They have a winning record when he does play. They are not a good football team, and they can’t score without him. Jeff Driskel is 1-7 as a starter. But this is about defense. New England totally shut down Alvin Kamara and Christian McCaffrey. What are the Broncos right now offensively if they can’t run the football? They are Jeff Driskel. Nobody is focused like Tampa Bay right now. They think they are not playing well, and their defense has been on fire. I think this game could get ugly by the second half.”

Actual final score: Buccaneers 28, Broncos 10

Did Colin win? Yes
