Disclaimer: PartyPoker will launch in Pennsylvania later this year. This review is speculative based on PartyPoker’s offering in other states and will be updated to reflect any changes at launch.
PartyPoker celebrates its 20th year in online poker in 2021. One of the biggest brands in the world, PartyPoker left the US market in 2006, only to return when state-regulated poker became legal in New Jersey in 2013.
Now, PartyPoker goes live in Pennsylvania. Not only does PartyPoker have a reputation for regulatory compliance, but it also has a passion for providing new and casual players with the best experience possible.
Safety is as much a priority as fun. Top-quality software, excellent customer service, and great promotions suit beginners and expert players alike.
New customers receive a $25 bonus and a first deposit bonus of up to $1,000. The offer is tailored to offer players across the spectrum a strong incentive to take their game online at PartyPoker.
Party Poker welcome bonus
PartyPoker offers new players two great introductory bonuses. A free $25 and a 100 percent deposit match bonus of up to $1,000.
$25 Free bonus
Free cash with no deposit required is a great incentive to try out PartyPoker. To get your free $25, all you have to do is verify your account. This is a simple process where you confirm your address and identity
After verification, PartyPoker credits you with $10 to spend at poker, $5 to use to enter special “Big Money” tournaments, and $10 to try out the online casino games.
All PA online gambling operators must verify the identity of their real money players as a regulatory requirement. This protects against the possibility of under-age gambling.
First deposit 100% bonus up to $1,000
Deposit bonuses are common in online poker. Quite simply, the operator matches your first deposit with a bonus equal to a percentage of the amount you deposit. PartyPoker doesn’t mess around with its offer. You can get a bonus of up to $1,000 matched dollar-for-dollar with your first deposit.
These bonuses are real money, so there is a requirement to earn the bonus with play at the tables.
PartyPoker makes it easy to earn as much of the bonus as your play permits. The bonus is released in 10 payments, and you have 60 days to earn the whole bonus.
To earn each payment, you must earn points by playing real money poker. Every dollar you pay in cash game rake or tournament fees earns two points. Rake is the cash that PartyPoker takes from each pot where there is a flop. This is how they earn their revenues.
Each bonus dollar requires four points. So, if you deposit $600, you will be eligible for a bonus of $600, paid as 10 payments of $60. At four points per dollar, you have to earn 240 points to release each $60 payment. That means you have to pay $120 in fees or rake to earn each payment.
Online players use the term “rakeback” to refer to these benefits. Party Poker deposit bonus is, therefore, worth 50 percent in rakeback. This is a lot. One way to think about it is that you get to play your first hands at PartyPoker for half price. Or you can just enjoy the extra cash when it arrives in your account!

PartyPoker promotions
PartyPoker likes to keep a regular series of promotions and then adds others monthly. The regular promotions include:
- Sit & Go leaderboards: Prizes are paid out to the players who have performed best in sit & go tournaments during the week. There are low stake and high stake leaderboard contests.
- Weekly reload bonus: PartyPoker tailors this promotion to your play. Every week you will find the offer of a reload bonus in your account. This works just like the new player deposit bonus, although terms and conditions vary. Instead of a 100% bonus, for example, the bonus might be limited to 50%.
- Click & Win: On Sundays, PartyPoker gives all players a “click card.” Click the card and receive a prize. For reasons unknown, PartyPoker requires that you opt into this promotion, so don’t forget to tick the box every week.
PartyPoker loyalty program
Promotional money is not only on offer for new players. PartyPoker works hard to keep players loyal to their online poker room.
All players are automatically members of the Party Poker loyalty scheme. This should not be ignored, even casual players benefit, and higher volume players can receive substantial sums of cash from the scheme.
Party’s scheme couldn’t be simpler. When you play real money poker you earn two party points for each dollar of rake and tournament entry fee.
The more volume you put in, the higher the VIP level you occupy and the more money you earn. Benefits are in the form of cash payments to your account based on a percentage of the rake you have paid over the month.
The higher the level, the higher the percentage of rakeback you receive. There are four VIP tiers:
- Bronze: Players receive 6.7 percent rakeback. All players start at this level.
- Silver: Earn a minimum of 50 points in a month and you move to the Silver level and receive up to 15.4 percent rakeback.
- Gold: At 750 points and over per month you can graduate to the Gold level. Now you receive up to 20.5% in rakeback.
- Palladium: 2000+ points a month gets you to the Palladium level. Rakeback payments now equal 30.7%.
PartyPoker game selection in Pennsylvania
PartyPoker offers four types of games; cash games, “fastforward,” sit & go tournaments and multi-table tournaments.
Cash games
Texas Hold’em cash games are offered in limit, no-limit, and pot-limit formats. Omaha is available as pot-limit and hi-lo. Seven card stud and seven card stud hi-lo are available but tables run less often than the more popular variants.
Stakes range from pennies at no limit Texas hold’em tables through to $25/$50. Equivalent stake levels are available at the other variants. Blind sizes range higher at limit tables reflecting the smaller average size of pots.
Cash games, known as ring games, come in nine-seat and six-seat tables. There are no heads-up cash games at PartyPoker.
In a small market, and Pennsylvania is a small market for online poker, there is a limited selection of tables especially outside peak playing hours. However, there is a good chance that Pennsylvania will eventually join the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA).
If this happens, PA players will play at the same tables as players from New Jersey, Delaware, and Nevada. This would massively improve player liquidity, which means more chance of getting to a table at the stakes you want to play and bigger tournament prize pools.
Fastforward
Online poker has developed a lot in the last decade. A new form of cash game poker known as fast-fold poker is one popular innovation. Instead of sitting at a table and playing against the same players, fast-fold poker allocates players to a player pool.
Players are randomly seated at tables, and play one hand before moving automatically to a new table. The fast-fold element comes into play because you have the option to move to the next table as soon as you fold your cards.
The format makes for faster play with many more hands per hour. PartyPoker’s version is called fastforward, but so far it has not proved particularly popular in the US.
Sit & Go tournaments (SNG)
In a “does what it says on the tin” way, Sit & Go tournaments are tournaments where the event begins as soon as a pre-set number of players are registered.
Most PartyPoker Sit & Gos are single-table tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $1 to $500. They come in three types: turbo, hyper, and coin-flip. The names refer to the speed with which blinds increase. Coin flip events put players all-in on each hand until there is a winner.
Tables are available for heads-up, 6-max, and nine-player tables.
Multi-table tournaments (MTTs)
PartyPoker tries hard to be the market leader in multi-table tournaments. It offers a huge variety of formats at a wide range of stakes.
Tournaments vary considerably in their structures. Turbo tournaments take only a couple of hours to complete, whereas DeepStack events can take 10 hours or more. Knockout events place a bounty on each player that goes to whichever player knocks them out of the tournament. Rebuy tournaments allow players to re-enter the tournament if they lose all their chips in the early stages of an event.
Every Sunday, PartyPoker hosts a $35,000 Guaranteed No-Limit Hold’em tournament with a $215 buy-in. This attracts a large field and rarely fails to meet the guarantee. The tournament guarantee means that even if too few players register to make up the prize pool to the guaranteed amount, PartyPoker steps in and adds the shortfall to the prize pool.
Throughout the year, PartyPoker runs a special tournament series where every tournament comes with a guarantee. Low buy-in satellite tournaments offer entries to the higher-priced events as prizes. These allow the chance to play at higher stakes with only a small initial investment.
Start playing online poker at PartyPoker.com
Step one in getting into the action at PartyPoker’s tables is to register as a new player. Click on the links on this page to go straight to the registration form.
Fill in your details and choose a password and username. Don’t forget to enter the bonus code listed here in the box provided.
You need to download the poker client software before you can play. This is easiest to do on a desktop or laptop. There are versions available for Mac (Apple) and Windows operating systems.
If you want to play on your mobile device, you can. Both Android and Apple iOS devices have Party Poker apps that you can download. If you register on your desktop first, you can use the same log-in details when you later download the PartyPoker app.
The next step is to earn the free $25 by verifying your account. This only takes a few minutes. If you aren’t prompted to verify your account, you can click on the link in the cashier.
Note that you must be over 21 to play online poker in Pennsylvania. You must also be physically present in the state. You can’t play for real money if you are outside the state borders, that’s how state-regulated online gaming works. Your account is only valid in the state where the operator is licensed.
So, if you have a PartyPoker account in New Jersey, perhaps after a trip to Atlantic City, you will need to open a separate account to use while you are in Pennsylvania.
PartyPoker software
After 20 years in the business, PartyPoker has refined its poker software to a level where it is undoubtedly one of the best online poker clients in the world.
When you first start playing, it’s well worth spending a few minutes exploring the software and especially the settings menu to see how much you can customize the client. PartyPoker’s initial settings are well-suited to new players, so there’s no disadvantage in leaving this examination for a quiet moment.
The home page, known as the lobby offers a top menu of “Poker,” “Casino,” “Promotions” and “Support.” Below this, there’s a menu bar with tab options for “Cash,” “fastforward,” “Sit & Go,” “Tourneys” and “My Tourneys.” Click on each to see what games and tournaments are available.
There’s a filter to show only the games and stakes in which you are interested. Click the “Play Now” button to join a cash game table. For tournaments, the details are shown in a panel to the right. Either click on the orange “Register” button or double click on the tournament name to go to the tournament lobby where you can register.
The settings menu
At the top right of the client is a cogwheel icon that takes you to the settings menu. Here you can adjust table themes, bet slider options, multi-tabling options, card colors, sound effects, and much more.
Advanced players who want to play more than one table at a time can use a “Hot Hand” option. This automatically highlights a table when you are dealt with one of several pre-selected hands. When this happens there is a sound alert and the table color changes. The hot hand table will jump to the front when the tables are cascaded.
Sophisticated players can set the bet slider, mouse scroll wheel, and customer key combinations to bet pre-set amounts of big blinds or percentages of the pot.
Party Poker App
The poker apps offer the same game selection and facilities as the desktop client with very few concessions to the smaller screen. Multi-tabling is still possible, with swipe and tap replacing mouse clicks.
The table design is compacted, but all the key information remains easily visible.
The PartyPoker app is available for both iPhone / iPad and for Android devices.
You can download both by visiting the PartyPoker home page from your device. Follow the links and instructions there to download the relevant app.

History of Party Poker PA
PartyPoker is part of the British GVC gaming group. In the US, it operates as part of a joint venture between GVC and MGM, called Roar Digital. This deal created a partnership that will see the two companies combine forces for online poker, casino, and sports betting in all US states where any of the activities are legal.
MGM entered the PA online betting market as one of two Qualified Gaming Entities (QGEs), rather than in partnership with a PA land-based casino. It paid $10 million to offer online gaming (slots, tables, and poker) and a further $10 million to offer online sports betting.
Sports betting and casino games are available through the BetMGM brand.
