GeoComply Data Shows iPhone Usage In PA Betting Not Bad At All

According to GeoComply CEO David Briggs, PA iPhone users are finding ways to bet despite limited app options, thanks to GeoGuard app.

GeoComply uses its geolocation compliance technology to tracks every player’s session on sportsbook apps. As a result, GeoComply possesses perhaps the most data about sports betting traffic in Pennsylvania.

The Vancouver-based company is able to offer unique insights. Here are some key discoveries from GeoComply about the early stages of online wagering in Pennsylvania:

  • 67% of mobile bets occur on an iPhone.
  • Pennsylvania hit almost half of New Jersey’s volume for mobile sports betting during Week 1 of the NFL season.
  • While GeoGuard was able to provide a solution for operators, GeoComply is still striving to improve user experience.

GeoComply provides a solution for updated app store policy

Over the summer, GeoComply provided a lifeline to Pennsylvania online casinos and sports betting apps.

Many sites were unable to launch on an iOS platform because of Apple’s updated app store policy, which included new rules for real-money gambling games. Online casinos and sports betting apps were in dire need of solution ASAP to be able to enter the burgeoning PA market.

GeoComply came to the rescue with the GeoGuard Location Validator. The app allows casino sites to obtain location data from customers’ iOS devices.

It performs a geolocation check, then sends data back to integrated websites. It is a hugely important step in the verification process to play online, as it confirms customers are within state lines when trying to play.

The solution sitting on the shelf

GeoComply VP of Regulatory Affairs Lindsay Slader admitted that GeoGuard was “not ideal.”
The GeoGuard Location Validator isn’t new. GeoComply started developing it as a peripheral concept about five years ago in response to Android apps not being accepted into the Google Play Store.
The concept that was “sitting on the shelf” proved to the solution for stumped and stalled operators in PA. However, GeoComply admits that there are still improvements to be made to appease user frustrations.
Commented Slader:

“For our operators that we work with, this is better than nothing. They’re still happy to have their iOS traffic but for the user it is still not an ideal experience where you have to actually go from a mobile website to the App Store to download something, then come back. We know that any additional step you put in the player funnel makes it that much more challenging to bet.”

GeoComply says PA market quickly growing

In a recent interview with Legal Sports Report, David Briggs, founder and CEO of GeoComply, offered some insight into sports betting across the country and in Pennsylvania.

Briggs said:

“Pennsylvania is quickly ramping up after launch this summer. On a recent Sunday with NFL games (Oct. 6), Pennsylvania hit almost half of New Jersey’s volume for mobile sports betting. It will be interesting to see how the numbers stack up in the next few weeks.”

GeoComply charted a Comparison for Player Volume for Oct. 6. The split between the four states was:

  • New Jersey: 58.9%
  • Pennsylvania: 31.4%
  • Indiana: 7%
  • West Virginia: 2.8%

iPhone user gain access to sports betting

Pennsylvania operators were understandably concerned about getting their products in the hands of PA’s iOS users.

In new sports betting states Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New Jersey and Indiana, about 70% of wagering takes place on iPhones.

Briggs weighed in on how the lack of iPhone apps for sports betting in PA isn’t making too much of an impact on total iPhone users in the state.

“To be honest, there has been an impact, but not too much. Most states have around 70% of users on iPhones. However, in Pennsylvania, it is trending a couple of percent below that, which is not too bad.”

Know Your Customer a key part of iGaming

On Oct. 10, GeoComply announced the launch of IDComply. IDComply is fully integrated with the company’s existing geolocation compliance solution and offers age and identity verification.

GeoComply developed IDComply in response to customers’ requests for an integrated solution that covers more of their compliance requirements beyond geolocation. By integrating age and ID verification along with GeoComply’s geolocation compliance solution, iGaming companies are able to streamline their operations and manage both their geolocation and Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance from the same back-office and Application Programming Interface (API).

Briggs commented that KYC is an extremely part of iGaming. He added:

“We’re really excited to expand our product offerings with a way for our customers to handle more of their compliance needs. IDComply enables iGaming operators to streamline customer acquisition, deter fraud, and quickly enter new markets, using an integrated solution from a compliance vendor they already know and trust.”

FanDuel’s Dominance Helped Drive $195M In PA Betting

Revenue shot up more than 144% between August and September at PA sportsbooks and betting apps, largely because football season is underway.

Fueled by the first opportunity to legally bet on the NFL, Pennsylvania’s online and retail sportsbooks nearly doubled the state’s previous record handle in September.

According to the latest data from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), $195 million in bets were placed in September, with 81% of the action happening online. FanDuel, under the license of Valley Forge Casino, dominated the market.

FanDuel dominates PA sports betting

For the second-straight month, FanDuel led the pack. The online sportsbook took more than $88 million in bets due in large part to their sports betting app. Fan Duel’s $5.1 million in revenue represents about a third of statewide revenue for September.

SugarHouse came in a distant second with $37 million in handle/$2.9 million in revenue. Parx Casino rounded out the top three with $21 million handle/$2.3 million in revenue.

Big monthly gains across PA sportsbooks

Sportsbooks in Pennsylvania experienced tremendous growth in September. Handle increased by 78%, and revenue shot up a whopping 144%.

All 11 of PA’s retail sportsbooks saw a month-over-month uptick in both revenue and handle. However, it was those with an online offering who experienced the biggest gains. FanDuel had the most significant leap, taking $50 million more in bets than the previous month. The site’s revenue expanded from $2.2 million in August to $5.1 million in September.

SugarHouse, Rivers and Parx all had month-over-month revenue growth above $1.6 million.

September marked the fourth full month of mobile betting and the addition of a fifth sportsbook, Fox Bet, which is operating under Mount Airy Casino’s license. In September, Fox Bet handled $4.9 million of bets with a  $231,536 in revenue.

Expect DraftKings to join the roster of Pennsylvania online sportsbooks in early November.

Comparing PA sportsbooks to NJ sportsbooks

PA mobile sportsbooks’ handle for September was $158.1 million. The number dwarfed the retail handle of $36.3 million. Preference for online skews similar in New Jersey, where 84% of wagers occurred online.

In September 2018, the first month of legal NFL and college football betting outside of Nevada, New Jersey sports betting handle hit $184 million. In September 2019, the Garden State hit a monthly record of more than $445 million.

Said Dustin Gouker, the lead analyst for

“New Jersey had the advantage of a more established gaming infrastructure when it launched sports betting. But now that the online sports betting infrastructure is in place, Pennsylvania is beginning to show its potential.”

Did Colin Cowherd Win? He’s Back In The NFL Saddle Again

It was not Colin Cowherd’s finest week of NFL betting last week. But who does The Fox Sports host think will win in NFL Week 7 for his Blazin’ 5?

Colin Cowherd‘s perfect Blazin 5’ season got doused by a poor performance Week 6.

Cowherd called it a rebound week with his “lock pick of the year.” He also pointed out that he rarely had back-to-back losing weeks.

He did have a rebound week, going 3-2 on NFL picks. When three of his Blazin’ 5 NFL betting picks cover, sports bettors in Pennsylvania using the FOX Bet Sportsbook can double their money with FOX Bet’s odds boost on the wagers.

However, his “pick of the year,” the Giants (-3), turned out to be a dud.

His college football picks continue to fail to make the grade. Cowherd is 0-8. If all three of his Marquee 3 Super Boost college football picks are correct, sports bettors cash at +800 instead of +600.

Each week we track all of Cowherd’s picks so you can know how he is faring before you follow his bets on your PA sports betting apps.

Cowherd’s college football Week 8 picks

Here are Cowherd’s Marquee 3 Super Boost college football picks for college football’s Week 8.

#9 Florida (-5) vs. SOuth Carolina

Colin’s pick: Florida

Colin’s final score: Florida 30, South Carolina 20

Cowherd said: “I’ll take Florida to win big. South Carolina upset Georgia but if you look at the numbers they were totally dominated in that game. Georgia kept turning the ball over. Florida’s quarterback Kyle Trask has been great in the last couple games against LSU and Auburn. Florida’s defense is also the better one in this game. Florida’s defense is second in the SEC in fewest points allowed, first in takeaways, and first in sacks. Watch out! The Florida Gators are back. Dan Mullen’s got a team. They did it with Spurrier and Urban Meyer. They’ll win comfortably.”

Actual final score: Florida 38, South Carolina 27

Did Colin win? Yes

#12 oregon vs. #25 washington (+3)

Colin’s pick: Washington

Colin’s final score: Washington 24, Oregon 23

Cowherd said: “Oregon, in the last four years against ranked teams, they’ve not been a step-up program. They are 3-9. They’ve not been good out of Autzen. Jacob Eason is a first-round NFL quarterback. Both teams have a great quarterback. Eason has been great at Husky Stadium. Oregon’s offense has been up and down this year. Washington’s defense is easily the best they’ll face in the conference this year.”

Actual final score: Oregon 35, Washington 31

Did Colin win? No

#16 Michigan vs. #7 penn state (-9)

Colin’s pick: Penn State

Colin’s final score: Penn State 28, Michigan 14

Cowherd said: “I’m done with Harbaugh’s crappy offense. It’s one of those White Out games and Penn State has been very good in those. The home team has won this matchup the last three years by 25-plus points. Harbaugh, as an underdog, never won at Michigan. Michigan is 1-19 in their last 20 against Top Ten teams including eleven straight on the road. Michigan’s offense is so bad it’s ranked tenth, eleventh, twelveth, thirteenth in the Big Ten! They are terrible at everything. Penn State’s defense is really good. They have NFL bodies on that defense. I think their defense stomps Michigan.”

Actual final score: Penn State 28, Michigan 21

Colin Cowherd’s Week 7 NFL picks

“This week is a the numbers lined up. I feel very good about these picks.”

Here are Colin Cowherd’s Week 7 Blazin’ 5 picks:

Los Angeles Rams (-2.5) vs. Atlanta Falcons

Colin’s pick: Rams

Colin’s final score: Rams 28 , Falcons 21

Cowherd said: “Adding Jalen Ramsey buoyes a locker room. I think Atlanta has quit. Jared Goff is fine when he is comfortable. Atlanta’s defense makes everybody comfortable. They are terrible. This means Goff has time to throw and Todd Gurley returns. This is a team that is playing for something. There is urgency here for the Rams. I think the Atlanta locker room has bailed. It’s season over, new coach soon.”

Actual final score: Rams 37, Falcons 10

Did Colin win? Yes

Houston Texans vs. Indianapolis Colts (-1)

Colin’s pick: Colts

Colin’s final score: Colts 28, Texans 24

Cowherd said: “Like it, I absolutely love the Colts at -1. All byes are not created equal. I like well-run teams, smarty-coached teams off a bye. They take bigger advantage of it. Jacoby Brissett is 3-0 against Houston and has a passer rating close to 100. He’s only been sacked six times this year, second-fewest in the NFL. He’ll have time to throw. The Colts are also the least penalized team in the NFL. They are, structurally, the closest thing to New England in the league. They don’t make mistakes, they run the ball, and they protect the quarterback.”

Actual final score: Colts 30, Texans 23

Did Colin win? Yes

Arizona Cardinals vs. Giants (-3)

Colin’s pick: Giants

Colin’s final score: Giants 36,  Cardinals 24

Cowherd said: “One of my picks of the year. Arizona won last week but was dominated the last half of that game. They were pushed around the field. Saquon Barkley comes back. Evan Engram comes back. Daniel Jones, when he has a running game and time to throw, he completes over 60% of his passes and they are 2-0. Arizona’s defense is 30th and 29th in everything. Daniel Jones will be comfortable. I get warm weather dome team going to the chilly Northeast. I think it’s one of the blowouts of the weekend. ”

Actual final score: Cardinals 27, Giants 21

Did Colin win? No

Baltimore Ravens (+3) vs. Seattle Seahawks

Colin’s pick: Ravens

Colin’s final score: Ravens 24, Seahawks 20

Cowherd said: “Counterintuitive. I’m going with Baltimore. I have some fears. It’s called Russell Wilson winning the game because he is a magician. Baltimore is sneaky. Number one in the league in rushing yards, time of possession, and total offense. Keep Russell Wilson off the field. I like Seattle but this year they have had to depend on turnovers. They never last. They got lucky last week. I think Baltimore got a bye coming up and this going to be big for them. John Harbaugh against Pete Carroll, a little USC/Stanford animosity.”

Actual final score: Ravens 30, Seahawks 16

Did Colin win?  Yes

Philadelphia eagles (+2.5) vs. Dallas cowboys

Colin’s pick: Eagles

Colin’s final score: Eagles 27, Cowboys 20

Cowherd said: “The Eagles have won 6 of 9 at Dallas. I think they match up very well against Dallas. Dallas’ offensive line is beat up and I love the Eagles’ defensive front. The Eagles’ issue is secondary. Jalen Mills is coming back and Ronald Darby, who is special, did practice this week. That secondary is going to be better if not spectacular. When talented teams are humiliated they almost always bounce back. Philadelphia was humiliated. The Eagles are 16-7 when Carson Wentz doesn’t have a pick. The Cowboys don’t intercept the football.”

Actual final score: Cowboys 37, Eagles 10

Did Colin win? No

Check Out Cash Out Betting Options At PA Online Sportsbooks

If you want to tap out of a bet early, most PA online sportsbooks will actually let you cash in early. Here’s the rundown on cash out betting options.

While legalized sports betting in Pennsylvania is a new frontier, cash-out betting is a common online sports betting feature. It’s an option for bettors who are not confident in their bet or want to limit risk on a wager.

How cash out betting works

Cash out betting is a live/in-game feature offered by the following PA online sportsbooks:

Sports bettors can cash out in real-time, before the result of the event is even complete. The amount of money you get back depends on the timing of your cash out. It effectively depends on the current likelihood of the bet winning and could be greater or less than the initial wager.

Why do sports bettors cash out?

Sports bettors usually cash out before the game is over for two reasons:

  1. If the wager starts out looking like a winner but doesn’t seem it will end that way, a bettor can cash our for partial winnings.
  2. Conversely, if the wager seems like a losing one from the start, a bettor can cash out early so they don’t lose the entire amount of the wager.

Pennsylvania online sportsbooks offer cash out on:

  • Moneyline wagers
  • Point spread wagers
  • Parlays
  • Futures bets

However, it is important to check with each PA mobile sportsbook to determine what sports and types of wagers they offer the cash out option for.

An example of an instance where a bettor might choose to cash out would be Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster futures bets. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s Week 2 season-ending elbow injury dramatically lowered Schuster’s chances to lead the NFL in receiving yards or touchdowns.

How to cash out

The cash out option is only available for bettors using online sportsbooks. If your bet is eligible for cash out, you will be offered a value based on current odds.

Once you cash out, the bet is finished. You cannot reverse the cash out option.

Cashing out tips for FanDuel

FanDuel currently offers cash out on the following:

  • Football
  • Basketball
  • Soccer
  • Hockey

Cash Out is available on straight single and parlay bets. It is not offered on spread and total points markets, teaser bets and round robins. Availability of Cash Out is indicated by the unique Cash Out symbol located in the highlighted areas.

After you place a bet and are ready to cash out, open the “active bets” tab on the bet slip.  For any bet where cash out is available, you will see the green cash out button with the associated cash out value.

When you click on the cash out button, you will need to confirm that you are cashing your bet out. When you confirm the cash-out, the sportsbook reviews the transaction, then they will either accept or reject the request. If accepted, the funds will be transferred to your wallet as winnings instantaneously and the bet will show in the settled bets tab as “cashed out.”

Per state regulations, you must be physically located in the state of Pennslyvania in order to cash out.

Did Colin Win? Cowherd’s NFL Run Hits A 1-4 Snag

Colin Cowherd is running like God when it comes to NFL picks, but college football keep getting the best of him. Here are his Week 6 picks and results.

Colin Cowherd’s perfect Blazin’ 5 season is over. It was doused by a 1-4 NFL Week 6. He remains 0-for-the-college football season. None of his Marquee Three Picks were winners.

When three of his Blazin’ 5 NFP betting picks cover, sports bettors in Pennsylvania using the FOX Bet Sportsbook can double their money with Fox Bet’s odds boost on the wagers.

If all three of his Marquee 3 Super Boost college football picks are correct, sports bettors cash at +800 instead of +600.

Cowherd’s also been spewing fire on Twitter.

Judging by a previous picture Cowherd posted, these might be the kicks “daddy” bought.

usc vs. #9 notre dame (-10.5)

Colin’s pick: Notre Dame

Colin’s final score: Notre Dame 36, USC 23

Cowherd said: “Very easy. I’ll take Notre Dame in a blowout win. They will easily cover. Since the start of last year, Notre Dame is 16-2 and their only losses are to Clemson and Georgia. This is a really well-coached football team and their defense is excellent. It’s a program on the up. USC is the opposite. They are an absolute disaster. USC has lost seven of their last 11 games. They are a bad football program. Clay Helton is 2-13 as an underdog straight up.”

Actual final score: Notre Dame 30, USC 27

#10 Penn State vs. #17 IOWA (+3.5)

Colin’s pick: Iowa

Colin’s final score: Iowa, Penn State 20

Cowherd said: “They lost at Michigan so everybody sells their Iowa stock. But they are a top five defense. Quarterback Nate Stanley has been excellent at home, 3-0 with eight touchdowns and no picks. Penn State hasn’t beaten a ranked team all year. They struggled with the best team they faced, Pitt. In their last 24 games on the road against ranked teams Penn State is awful (2-22).”

Actual final score: Penn State 17, Iowa 12

Did Colin win? No

#7 florida vs. #5 LSU (-13)

Colin’s pick: LSU

Colin’s final score: LSU 40, Florida 21

Cowherd said: “This may be my favorite college pick of the year. I’ll take LSU to blowout Florida. This is easy stuff. They may be the best offense in the country. They are first in everything. They’re 5-1 in their last six games against Top 10 teams, only loss to Alabama, so they’re a good big game team. Joe Burrow had his worst game in the loss to Florida last year. This year he has been remarkable. He’s a Heisman favorite. The Gators came off a huge upset win against Auburn. It’s hard to get 19 and 20-year-olds to get to that emotional level back-to-back weeks.”

Colin Cowherd’s Week 6 NFL picks

“I’ve never been this hot making football picks in my life,” Cowherd said to start of Friday’s episode of The Herd.

Here are Colin Cowherd’s Week 6 Blazin’ 5 picks:

Seattle Seahawks vs. Cleveland Browns (+2)

Colin’s pick: Browns

Colin’s final score: Browns 26, Seahawks 24

Cowherd said: “Eighty percent of the public on the Seahawks, I’ll take Cleveland +2. Cleveland’s a young team. Young teams and young people are more emotional. They do a lot of things well defensively. This is an excellent defense that gets two of their best three cornerbacks back this week. Seattle is a football team you can throw the ball on. It’s not a great defense. I think Baker, Odell, Nick Chubb, and Jarvis Landry bounce back. This was an easy one for me.”

Actual final score: Seahawks 32, Browns 28

Did Colin win? No

New Orleans Saints vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (-2)

Colin’s pick: Jaguars

Colin’s final score: Jaguars 26, Saints 23

Cowherd said: “Love the Jaguars -2. We keep asking the Saints to be in these wild, emotional games with a backup quarterback. It puts stress on a franchise. I like New Orleans a lot but this is the best Jacksonville offense in the franchise’s history. They are averaging 400 YPG. Leonard Fournette has arrived, baby!'”

Actual final score: Saints 13, Jaguars 6

Did Colin win? No

Atlanta falcons (-2) vs. arizona cardinals

Colin’s pick: Falcons

Colin’s final score:  Falcons 28, Cardinals 23

Cowherd said: “Atlanta is not playing well but here’s the thing, don’t fall in love with Arizona’s win over Cincinnati. Cincinnati is inches better than Miami. Atlanta’s got way better personnel. Arizona’s defense is not good. Kyler Murray is a great athlete but he’s been sacked 21 times. That’s how bad Arizona’s offensive line is.”

Actual final score: Cardinals 34, Falcons 33

Did Colin win? No

Tennessee Titans (+2) vs. Denver Broncos

Colin’s pick: Titans

Colin’s final score: Titans 22, Broncos 20

Cowherd said: “When Tennessee can run the football, they win. The Titans have one turnover all year. They have a +6 turnover differential. Mariota is one of three quarterbacks in the NFL with seven touchdown passes and no picks. Tennessee is not a great team but they are a clean team. They are well-coached, have good line play and don’t make mistakes. Joe Flacco is the better quarterback in this game but is more mistake-prone.  People bail on Tennessee all the time. There are weekends I’m not so sure they are not one of the top two or three teams in the league.”

Actual final score: Broncos 16, Titans 0

Did Colin win? No

Dallas cowboys vs. New York Jets (+7)

Colin’s pick: Jets

Colin’s final score: Cowboys 27, Jets 24

Cowherd said: “This game was 8.5 and I bet it on Monday. I’ll still tell you the number of the Jets is the right side to be on. I was told Adam Gase had so little confidence in his third-string quarterback he just hid the playbook. So basically Dallas has one-half of film on these guys. The Jets led Buffalo, a very good team, 16-0, in the first game. The last couple games Dak has not been playing well, the offensive line is banged up and receivers aren’t totally healthy. I think Dallas wins the game. The number is too many points to give the Jets at home.”

Actual final score: Jets 24, Cowboys 22

#14 iowa vs. #18 michigan (-3.5)

Colin’s pick: Michigan

Colin’s final score: Michigan 26, Iowa 20

Cowherd said: “I’m going to take Michigan to win and cover the spread. Michigan was favored in this game by 14 points during the summer, but because they lost to Wisconsin and they’re 11 points less of a team? No. Wisconsin’s fantastic. Their defense is the best I’v ever seen. Iowa is undefeated but they have yet to face a team this season who has a current winning record. Michigan’s the better team. This is an easy number to cover.”

Actual final score: Michigan 10, Iowa 3

Did Colin win? Yes

#7 Auburn (-2.5) vs. #10 Florida

Colin’s pick: Auburn

Colin’s final score: Auburn 27, Florida 20

Cowherd said: “Auburn has dominated this series. Even though it’s at Florida, Auburn’s won the last three meetings. Their defensive line is one of the best. In their last three games, Auburn’s offense has exploded. They’re 5-0 against the spread this year.”

Actual final score: Florida 24, Auburn 13

#11 texas vs. West Virginia (+10.5)

Colin’s pick: West Virginia

Colin’s final score: Texas 30, West Virginia 20

Cowherd said: “Texas is the better team but I’m taking West Virginia and the points. West Virginia, strangely, has given Texas all sorts of trouble. They run the heck out of the football and will keep it away from Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger. Texas is playing Oklahoma next week, and they’ve lost the game before the Sooners game in three of the last five seasons.”

Colin Cowherd’s Week 5 NFL picks

Here are Colin Cowherd’s Week 5 Blazin’ 5 picks:

Chicago Bears (-4.5) vs. oakland Raiders

Colin’s pick: Bears

Colin’s final score: Bears 29, Raiders 23

Cowherd said: “The better organization will travel better than a chaotic one if you have to go to Europe. I don’t believe the Bears going to a backup quarterback is a true ‘back up.’ Chase Daniel is as good as Mitch Trubisky and I don’t think it’s worth more than half a point. The Bear’s defense is second or third in every meaningful category. ”

Actual final score: Raiders 24, Bears 21

Did Colin win? No

arizona Cardials (+3) vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Colin’s pick: Arizona

Colin’s final score: Cardinals 26, Bengals 24

Cowherd said: “I’m going to take Arizona to win their first game. Cincinnati’s two dynamic perimeter players, A.J. Green and John Ross, are out. They don’t have a dynamic quarterback, so where do I get dynamic playmakers? They can’t do anything. They can’t score, they can’t rush and they’re are bad in the red zone. Arizona’s got a playmaker in Kyler Murray. Cincinnati’s become a bad football team. They are 2-13 in their last 15 games. They are awful and I don’t think there is a lot of hope in that locker room. Arizona’s got all sorts of hope.”

Actual final score: Cardinals 26, Bengals 23

Did Colin win? Yes

tampa bay Buccaneers vs. New orleans saints (-3)

Colin’s pick: Saints

Colin’s final score: Saints 30, Buccaneers 23

Cowherd said: “Tampa Bay is a losing franchise that had a good Sunday. The Saints have been a winning franchise for fifteen years. The bottom line in betting is take the team you think is going to win the game. Don’t worry about points. Are you telling me the only difference is the Superdome? That these two teams are even? Nonsense. Since the start of last season, Tampa Bay has allowed 30 points 11 times, most in the NFL.”

Actual final score: Saints 31, Buccaneers  24

Minnesota vikings (-4.5) vs. New York Giants

Colin’s pick: Minnesota

Colin’s final score: Vikings 30, Giants 23

Cowherd said: “I wrote down the 10 best players in this game and the Vikings had nine of them. This is a personnel mismatch. Minnesota was embarrassed last week. Good rosters and good coaches who get embarrassed bounce back. The Giants haven’t won three straight games in three years.”

Actual final score: Vikings 28, Giants 10

Did Colin win? Yes

Green Bay Packers (+3.5) vs. Dallas Cowboys

Colin’s pick: Packers

Colin’s final score: Packers  27, Cowboys 26

Cowherd said: “This feels really obvious to me. I get a significantly better quarterback and over a field goal. Aaron Rodgers doesn’t turn the ball over so they won’t give Dak, Zeke and the offensive line a short field. I think it’s a real urgent game for Green Bay. The whole world watched Green Bay get pushed around last week against Philadelphia. I think their defense says ‘ok fellas come on.’ If a good unit gets embarrassed, I think the Packers defense is good, they will play well the next week.”

Actual final score: Packers 34, Cowboys 24

Did Colin Cowherd Win? Perfect On NFL Picks, Winless On College

The moral of Colin Cowherd’s FOX Bet promo seems to be to follow on his NFL Blazin’ 5 picks but fade his College Marquee 3 bets based on Week 4 results.

Colin Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 is having a perfect NFL season so far. When three of his five picks cover, PA sports bettors can double their money with Fox Bet’s odds boost on the wagers.

Of course, Fox Bet Sportsbook is pumping up Cowherd’s perfect record to get an advantage over other PA online sportsbooks.

When it comes to college football, it’s a study in contrasts. He has yet to hit on his Marquee 3 Super Boost college football picks through five weeks. If all three picks hit, sports bettors cash at +800 instead of +600.

“It’s only a matter of time,” Fox Bet tweeted.

Each week we track all of Cowherd’s picks so you can know how he is faring before you follow his bets.

#18 Virginia vs. #10 notre dame (-12.5)

Colin’s pick: Virginia

Colin’s final score: Notre Dame 30, Virginia 20

Cowherd said: “That’s a lot of points. Virginia is a good team that is tied for the most sacks in college football. Notre Dame played a highly physical and emotional game last week. Notre Dame tends to be a good team after a loss but not dominant.”

Actual final score: Notre Dame 35, Virginia 20

Did Colin win? No

Northwestern vs. #8 Wisconsin (-24.5)

Colin’s pick: Northwestern

Colin’s final score: Wisconsin 36, Northwestern 16

Cowherd said: “Northwestern is hard to figure out. They are bizarrely good on the road, 8-0 in their last eight road conference games, and they’re also bizarrely good as a double-digit underdog. Wisconsin is better. Because they were on national TV and drubbed Jim Harbaugh I think they are overvalued. Everybody in the world has Wisconsin in the playoffs.”

Actual final score: Wisconsin 24, Northwestern 15

Did Colin win? Yes

#21 Usc vs. #17 washington (-10)

Colin’s pick: Washington

Colin’s final score: Washington 34, USC 23

Cowherd said: “USC is clinging to life. They are a mess. Don’t overvalue the Utah win. Washington is better defensively, better at quarterback, better coached, and an overall better roster. Washington is 16-1 in their last 17 home games and are absolutely brilliantly coached on defense. Jacob Eason may go number one in the draft.”

Actual final score: Washington 28, USC 14

Colin Cowherd’s Week 4 NFL picks

Here are Colin Cowherd’s Week 4 Blazin’ 5 picks:

tennessee titans (+3.5) vs. atlanta falcons

Colin’s pick: Titans

Colin’s final score: Titans 27, Falcons 24

Cowherd said: “Don’t bail on Tennessee, they’re the most Jekyll and Hyde team in the NFL. Atlanta’s really been troublesome to me. Matt Ryan leads the NFL with six interceptions. They are tied with the Browns for the most penalties in the league. They’ve finished 9-7 the last three years and are just inconsistent because Marcus Mariota is inconsistent. I’m calling for an upset.”

Actual final score: Titans 24, Falcons 1o

Did Colin win? Yes

Baltimore ravens (-7) vs. Cleveland browns

Colin’s pick: Ravens

Colin’s final score: Ravens 29, Browns 17

Cowherd said: “I generally don’t like laying a touchdown but I’m taking Baltimore -7 here. Cleveland has been the poster boy for inefficiency. Leads the NFL in penalties, Baker Mayfield is second in the NFL in interceptions. Baltimore is the opposite. They have a lower ceiling but are completely efficient and are the only team in the NFL without a turnover. Points, yards, and rushing – first, first, first. I don’t think Lamar is there yet, but they don’t put him i positions to fail. I think Cleveland continually puts Baker in positions to fail.”

Actual final score: Browns 40, Ravens 25

Did Colin win? No

Oakland Raiders  (+6.5) vs. indianapolis colts

Colin’s pick: Raiders

Colin’s final score: “27-26 game either way. Indy probably pulls it out.”

Cowherd said: “I’m going to go against the public on this. Josh Jacobs leads all rookie running backs. Colts have struggled to stop the fun. Here’s the problem with Indianapolis so far; they’ve won but barely and their defense has been really underwhelming. They’re 28th in red zone defense and 28th in third-down defense. I think the Raiders are going to convert a lot of third downs in this game and keep it close. I don’t like what I’m seeing with the Colts defense.”

Actual final score: Raiders 31, Colts 24

Did Colin win? Yes

Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals(+5.5)

Colin’s pick: Arizona

Colin’s final score: Seahawks 24, Cardinals 23

Cowherd said: “Like it, I love it. This game is always close. Seattle isn’t converting enough and allowing almost 27 points per game. All their games have been decided by six points or less. Arizona has played good teams. They are staying in games. They are a very interesting story here.  I think Kyler Murray comes back and gets a backdoor cover.”

Actual final score: Seahawks 27, Cardinals 10

Did Colin win? No

Dallas Cowboys at new orleans saints (+2.5)

Colin’s pick: Saints

Colin’s final score: Saints 28, Cowboys 27

Cowherd said: “This is a gift. I get New Orleans which I think could be the better team and they are at home, and I get the superior coach and the points. Saints have only turned the ball over three times all year. Their pass rush has nine sacks. It’ll be the loudest crowd of the year. I’m taking the Saints to win it outright.

Actual final score: Saints 12, Cowboys 10

How To Stay Safe And Secure When Playing Online In PA

If you’re worried about the safety and security of playing online casino games in PA, we have simple suggestions to protect yourself.

Pennsylvanians joined the world of online real-money gambling in the summer of 2019.

Playing wherever Wi-Fi (or your data plan) allows offers comfort and convenience. However, it’s not without risks.

It is vital to stay safe when gambling online for real money.

Here are some security measures to keep in mind when gambling on your phone or computer.

Play on reputable websites

As of September 2019, there are three Pennsylvania online casinos:

Before gambling on a website, it is essential to determine if it’s licensed and regulated by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). The PGCB “protects the interest of the public by ensuring the integrity of legalized gaming through the strict enforcement of the law and regulations.”

By playing at PA online casinos that are licensed and regulated by the PGCB, players eliminate many risks. They thoroughly test each game to ensure fairness. You are also able to log complaints with them.

At the bottom of a casinos website check for this seal:

Protect your personal info

Pay attention when registering for each online casino. Here are some essential tips to keep in mind when registering at a PA online casino:

  • Consider confidentiality and privacy. Your username is visible to other players on the website.
  • Choose a unique username and password.
  • Do not autosave passwords.
  • Never share login information.
  • If you tend to forget passwords, think about using a service like LastPass or Keeper.
  • Log off at the end of each session.

Enable two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication is something many of us do every day. Using a debit card and passcode is considered a form of two-factor authentication.

The most common form of two-factor authentication while logging into your PA online casino account is to enter your password and then enter a security code that you receive via text message.

There are three types of authentication. It consists of something you:

  • Know: A password, PIN, ZIP code, or answer to a question (mother’s maiden name, name of pet, and so on).
  • Have: A phone, credit card, or fob.
  • Are: A biometric such as a fingerprint, retina, face, or voice.

Reputable payment and withdraw methods

Regulated and licensed PA online casinos offer trusted banking methods.  Most accept trusted names like Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal for users to be able to play real-money games.

Keep computer protected from viruses

Perhaps even before you registered to play at a PA online casino, your computer contained a wealth of information about you. Information that hackers would love to obtain.

The simplest way to keep your computer safe is to download recommended system updates. If you want to add extra layers of security, consider antivirus software, antispyware software, and firewalls.

Set limits if needed

Many PA online casinos offer the option of self-imposed restrictions:

  • Deposit Limits: You can control how much you deposit on the site per day, week, or month.
  • Spending Limits: Based off of your net losses, this allows you to control how much you spend on the site per day, week, or month.
  • Time Limits: This allows you to restrict the number of hours you spend on the site each day.
  • Wagering Limits: You can control the amount you wager on the site per day, week, or month. It also allows you to limit the wager amount on a single bet per game type.
  • Timeout: Should you need a cooling-off period from online gambling, you can choose to self-suspend action.

Be aware of problem gambling

Problem gambling, or gambling addiction, includes all gambling behavior patterns that compromise, disrupt or damage personal, family, or vocational pursuits.

Signs of problem gambling include:

  • Increasing preoccupation with gambling.
  • A need to bet more money more frequently.
  • Restlessness or irritability when attempting to stop.

To find out more about problem gambling, visit the National Council on Problem Gaming or call 1-800-GAMBLER.

Be mindful of cellphone safety

The number of people who gamble on their phones continues to rise. If you choose to play this way, it is important to take cautionary measures, including:

  • Lock your phone.
  • Enable password or fingerprint protection.
  • Make the password strong/unique (i.e., not 1-2-3-4).
  • Keep your operating systems updated.
  • Consider installing anti-theft tracking software.

Did Colin Cowherd Win? He Is On An NFL Betting Hot Streak

FOX Sports persona and FOX Bet Sportsbook promoter Colin Cowherd had another big winning NFL week with his NFL Week 3 picks.

Colin Cowherd had back-to-back “Blazin” weeks picking NFL teams for sports bettors. During Week 2, he went 4-1. For Week 3, he posted a 4-0-1 record thanks to a Ravens vs. Chiefs push.

Of course, Cowherd was quick to congratulate himself after his picks panned out last week.  He also pointed out how hard betting is early in the season.

“September is not one of my best months. I’m like the Patriots. My September is choppy. But I’ve had I’ve had a great Blazin 5′ start and have been bumpy in my college picks. This week I feel great about my picks.”

Colin Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 gives PA sports bettors the chance to double their money when he has a winning streak in the NFL. Fox Bet Sportsbook boosts the odds on Cowherd’s picks. He’s also introduced Marquee 3 Super Boost college football picks. Those also feature boosted odds from the sportsbook.

Colin’s pick: Michigan State

Colin’s final score: Texas A& M 36, Auburn 27

Cowherd said: “I’m rolling with the Aggies and taking them. Auburn has not played well all year. The quarterback Bo Nix is really struggling. Texas A&M, if you take out their games against Clemson and Alabama, they are 11-2. They are struggling against the teams that beat everybody.”

Actual final score: Auburn 28, Texas A& M 20

#22 Washington (-6.5) vs. byu

Colin’s pick: Washington

Colin’s final score: Washington 30, BYU 20

Cowherd said: “Like it, I love it. My play of the weekend. Washington has led the PAC-12 in scoring defense and total defense the last four years. They are brilliantly coached. Jacob Eason has completed over 70 % of this throws. Here’s the key to this game, BYU has played back-to-back highly emotional overtime games. I think they come back to down to earth.”

Actual final score: Washington 45, BYU 19

#7 notre dame vs. #3 georgia(-14.5)

Colin’s pick: Georgia

Colin’s final score: Georgia 36, Notre Dame 20

Cowherd said: “This is going to be problematic for Notre Dame. They have lost ten straight games to top five teams. Georgia is a monster at home. We knew Georgia would be good defensively. Their offense is averaging 8.7 yds a play.”

Actual final score: Georgia 23, Notre Dame 17

Baltimore Ravens vs. Kansas city Chiefs (-5)

Colin’s pick: Chiefs

Colin’s final score: Chiefs 30, Ravens 23

Actual final score: Chiefs 33, Ravens 28

Did Colin win? Push

Detroit lions (+6) vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Colin’s pick: Lions

Colin’s final score: Eagles 27, Lions 23

Cowherd said: “I’m taking Detroit in a potential upset here. Philadelphia had to cancel practice this week. Three of their targets are hurt offensively. They also had some defensive injuries. I think this is a talented Philadelphia team that’s playing a Detroit team that has covered 4 of their last 6 games.”

Actual final score: Lions 27, Eagles 24

Did Colin win? Yes

new york giants (+6) vs. tampa bay

Colin’s pick: Giants

Colin’s final score: Giants 24, Buccaneers 23

Cowherd said: “I like an outright win for the Giants. Daniel Jones, I believe, is going to give this team a little energy boost. He was absolutely terrific in the preseason. Tampa is adrift. They are one of four teams yet to have 300 total yards in a game.”

Actual final score: Giants 32, Bucs 31

Did Colin win? Yes

Pittsburgh Steelers (+6.5) vs. san Francisco 49ers

Colin’s pick: Steelers

Colin’s final score: Steelers 27, 49ers 26

Cowherd said: “Pittsburgh is getting 6.5 points. That is way too many. The 49ers are incredibly young. Pittsburgh without Big Ben is 10-6. It’s a must-win for them. Way, way too many points to give the significantly better offensive line and the better, more desperate roster.

Actual final score: 49ers 24, Steelers 20

Did Colin win? Yes

los angeles rams (-3.5) at Cleveland Browns

Colin’s pick: Rams

Colin’s final score: Rams 33, Browns 24

Cowherd said: “Like Philadelphia, the Browns have a cluster of injuries in the secondary. The weakness of the Browns is the offensive line. The Rams Aaron Donald who has yet to get a sack is going to get spicy. I also getting a coaching mismatch. Sean McVay may be the best young coach. I don’t think any of us know if Freddie Kitchens is even a good coach. He doesn’t look like it.

Actual final score: Rams 20, Brown 13

FanDuel The New Leader In The Clubhouse Based On August Revenue

The August revenue numbers for PA casinos and sportsbooks are in and FanDuel is already the new market leader after just six weeks in the state.

Since its launch, Pennsylvania online casinos have been picked on like a younger sibling. Players groused about no online poker, small game libraries, and not enough Apple and iPhone options.

PA online casinos hit back in a big way with the release of August casino numbers. According to data from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), the three casino sites more than quadrupled revenue month over month.

Yes, July only had two weeks of action, but the growth is still impressive.  August’s PA online casino revenue for slots and table games was $3.4 million. The big jump shows the potential and profitability of mobile casinos.

PA’s three online casinos are already outearning PA’s four online sportsbooks. Online betting generated $2.5 million in taxable revenue in August.

SugarHouse is sweet

SugarHouse combined its strength in New Jersey, reward program and first-to-market appeal to propel itself to an early lead in Pennsylvania.

SugarHouse earned almost $1.4 million in slots revenue in August, which is quite a huge leap from just $261,000 in July. An additional $286,000 in table games revenue resulted in total revenue of $1.65 million for the site.

It made SugarHouse the clear leader of the trio of PA online casinos. Parx finished second with $1.09 million in total online revenue.

SugarHouse has fewer online slots than its competitors. However, it has the first progressive slot in PA, Divine Fortune. Four players have hit the Divine Fortune jackpot on PA’s, so far, this month.

The popular slot game is proving to be a winner for players and SugarHouse.

Mattias Stetz, COO of Rush Street Interactive, the site’s operator, said:

“Divine Fortune is a very hot game right now on in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. This slew of wins proves that jackpots can hit often and on any type of bet. With all of these recent progressive slot wins, we’ve seen increased play on Divine Fortune at and we expect the excitement to continue.”

FanDuel rules PA, NJ

It’s only the third full month for online sports betting in Pennsylvania. Although it’s still in its infancy, it’s skipped crawling and is off and running. Fueled by online sportsbooks, the PA sports betting handle reached six figures for the first time.

Pennsylvania is following in the footsteps on neighboring New Jersey when it comes to sports betting:

  • Online wagers accounted for 76% of total handle. (Close to 85% of wagers are made online in New Jersey.)
  • FanDuel takes the lead. The leader in NJ now takes the top spot in PA with $35 million online handle/$2 million online revenue.

FanDuel, under the license of Valley Forge Casino, in August handled $37.8 million in wagers. A staggering amount ($35.3 million; 93%) came via the website and mobile app.

A FanDuel spokesperson weighed in on the stellar PA debut:

“The FanDuel Sportsbook is the clear market leader for online sports betting in Pennsylvania with nearly half of the state’s handle and revenue, an incredible achievement in only six weeks of operation. Having expanded our leadership position across New Jersey and now Pennsylvania, we will continue to bring our top mobile betting platform to the expanding US market.”

The rest of the PA online sports betting field

SugarHouse was the first online sportsbook in PA. It quickly lost its crown to FanDuel. Still, it was a good month for SugarHouse sports betting. SugarHouse generated $25 million in online bets, up from $22.2 million in July. That generated $1.7 million in revenue for SugarHouse.

Parx online sportsbook rounded out the top three. Its online revenue more than doubled in August.
