Did Colin Cowherd Win? Boom Bet Wins But It’s Another Subpar Week

Colin Cowherd went 2-3 again in his Week 2 Blazin’ 5 picks, but this time his “boom bet” on Brady and the Bucs won for bettors at Fox Bet sportsbook PA.

Week 1 of the 2020 NFL season wasn’t particularly kind to Colin Cowherd.

His Blazin 5 picks went 2-3 and his favorite bets (the Falcons and the Jets) lost. He was so upset about it, he put them on a list.

“I will not bet FOR the Jets or the Falcons.”

This year, the Fox Bet online sportsbook app promotion with Cowherd is different. Instead of having to pick three winners out of five to boost odds for users, Cowherd is choosing a “Boom Bet” each week. His “hottest pick” gets boosted at 4x.

Also, it doesn’t appear he is making his college football Marquee 3 selections.

However, the more things change with Cowherd, the more things stay the same. He still has a penchant for posting foot pics on Twitter.

Cowherd cackles about Baker and Burrow

Before Thursday Night Football’s Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns game, Cowherd said that Baker Mayfield is “three more crappy Sundays from the Browns moving on.”

(Mayfield was drafted No.1 in 2018. The other quarterback on the Browns active roster is 32-year-old Case Keenum).

The Browns won 35-30 and Cowherd commented that Mayfield played one of his best games but the losing quarterback (Joe Burrow) was way better. He called Mayfield the fourth-best quarterback in the AFC North.

After spending most of the offseason ripping the No.1 pick Burrow, Cowherd went total Burrow fanboy on Friday praising his play on Thursday night.

Colin Cowherd’s 2020 Week 2 NFL picks

Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 airs on The Herd on Fridays at around 1 p.m. ET. We break down his picks for you here, and follow up on Monday with his results.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Dallas Cowboys (-5)

Colin’s pick: Cowboys

Colin’s final score: Cowboys 30, Falcons 20

Cowherd said:

“Dak Prescott is one of those guys who plays well at home. Last year at home he was first in passing TDs, fifth in passer rating. Doesn’t it worry you if you are Atlanta and you outgain Seattle and get crushed. It’s a cotton candy offense with a lot of phony yards. Dallas loses their opener a lot. Mike McCarthy, all eyes on him, a lot of heat on him. Now they come home against an inferior team.”

Actual final score: Cowboys 40, Falcons 39

Did Colin win? No

Detroit Lions (+6.5) vs. Green Bay Packers

Colin’s pick: Lions

Colin’s final score: Lions 26, Packers 24

Cowherd said:

“This is all about the value of the number, Detroit +6.5. Detroit completely outplayed Chicago for all but eight minutes. Everyone fell in love with Aaron Rodgers. You do realize seven of his last nine games he’s had declining numbers. Last year, the Lions played Green Bay close. They lost both games by a total of four points. I’m dead serious here, I think Matt Patricia, the next two weeks, is coaching for his job and to not lose the locker room. This is my upset of the week. Six-and-a-half is a ton of points here for an urgent team that needs to win.”

Actual final score: Packers 42, Lions 21

Did Colin win? No

Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins (+5.5)

Colin’s pick: Miami

Colin’s final score: Dolphins 24, Bills 23

Cowherd said:

“So, timeout, Miami gets +5.5 at home? I thought we liked Miami last year; now we suddenly think they stink because Belichick gave a quarterback trouble? Maybe Miami is okay and maybe New England’s defense is fantastic. Ryan Fitzpatrick has faced Buffalo many times and has been fine. This is not a rookie quarterback. The Bills averaged 19 points last year. They are still babysitting Josh Allen. Did you see what they did in the second half against the awful Jets, very uninspiring.”

Actual final score: Bills 31, Dolphins 28

Did Colin win? Yes

Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-7.5)

COLIN’S BOOM BET (But he doesn’t say it’s his boom bet or “here comes the boom.” Instead, we found it in the app and promoted on Twitter.

Colin’s pick: Buccaneers

Colin’s final score: Buccaneers 30, Panthers 20

Cowherd said:

“When Tom Brady loses in Week 1 have you seen what he does in the next game? Yeah he never loses. The Panthers are a bad team that have lost nine consecutive games with a college coaching staff. The Panthers allowed 30 points a game last year. This defense is younger and potentially worse. Last week Brady faced the best defense in the division…Tom Brady had a pick-6, it won’t happen again. The thing about Tampa to watch here, their defense was actually really good. Drew Brees threw for 160 yards. The running defense was good last year; it’s good again. Don’t get caught up losing the first week to the Saints, they should have.”

Actual final score: Buccaneers 31, Panthers 17

Did Colin win? Yes

New England Patriots (+4) vs. Seattle Seahawks

Colin’s pick: Patriots

Colin’s final score: Seahawks 23, Patriots 20

Cowherd said:

“I get over a field goal with Belichick. Since 2019, the Patriots defense is first in almost everything. Seattle’s O-lines and D-lines are bad. They were outgained by Atlanta. The Seahawks allowed the most passing yards last week (434). I think Seattle is the better team in this spot. This is going to be a short, quick game. New England’s going to run and eat the clock up. What’s Seattle going to do? They know New England’s defense is great on the back end so they are going to run the football.”

Actual final score: Seahawks 35, Patriots 30

Did Colin win? No

Blazin’ 5 Week 1 record: 2-3

Colin Cowherd 2020 Blazin’ 5 season record: 4-6

Boom Bet record – Cowherd’s “hottest pick” boosted 4x at Fox Bet: 1-1

Be sure to check back at PAOC each week of the 2020 NFL season to see if Colin Cowherd’s picks won.

Did Colin Cowherd Win? Jets and Falcons ‘Hot Picks’ Go Down in Flames NFL Week 1

Colin Cowherd is back with his Blazin’ 5 and boom bet boost at Fox Bet Sportsbook PA for the 2020 NFL season. We bring you his Week 1 picks and results.

“Fire it up!”

Football is back and so is our stalking of Colin Cowherd’s picks. Last year, we tracked Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 and Marquee 3 Super Boost college football picks each week.

Cowherd is much better handicapping the pros.

He finished the NFL season with an overall record of 42-41-3. Fox Bet PA’s promo at the time gave PA bettors the chance to double their money with the sportsbooks odds when three of his five picks covered.

Cowherd flunked when it came to College Football. In 2019, his overall record was 18-27. If all three of his Marquee 3 Super Boost college football picks hit, sports bettors cashed at +800 instead of +600.

Cowherd only correctly picked all three games correct once over the course of 15 weeks.

2020 Colin Cowherd promos at Fox Bet Sportsbook

“The Herd with Colin Cowherd” airs his Blazin 5′ picks every Friday around noon. This year, the promo with Fox Bet is different. It’s now “Colin Cowherd’s Blazin 5′ Boom Bet.” Each week the sportsbook app will boost Cowherd’s “hottest pick” to 4x your money.

Now, he gets to cherry-pick from a full slate of NFL games and go 1-1 each week instead of 3-for-5.

The Marquee 3 Super Boost is missing from “The Herd” and Fox Bet promos. We don’t have any “official” word where it went but we have some guesses.

Colin Cowherd’s 2020 Week 1 NFL picks

A bearded Cowherd is back with his picks and bravado.

“I gotta be honest with you. Every week I think I’m going to go 5-0. Every dang week I think I’m going to go 5-0. “

Colin did not go 5-0.

Cowherd’s Week 1 picks went 2-3.

His “Boom Bet,” the Jets +6.5 was a dud. His other “pick of the weekend,” the Falcons +2.5, turned out to be a trashed ticket, too.

Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens (-7.5)

Colin’s pick: Ravens

Colin’s final score: Ravens 33, Browns 20

Cowherd said:

“I rarely swallow more than a touchdown but I’m going to take Baltimore. Nobody is worse than the Browns the last fifteen years during opening games. Why? Cause they are always changing stuff. Oh, wait. They changed stuff again with a new coaching staff. Cleveland beat Baltimore last year. Baltimore is not overlooking Cleveland. The Browns haven’t won during Week 1 since 2005. The Ravens led the NFL in rushing and I believe their rushing game will be better. This is a testament to John Harbaugh and coaching. The Ravens have held their opponents to ten points or fewer in the last four season openers.”

Actual final score: Ravens 38, Browns  6

Did Colin win? Yes

New York Jets (+6.5) vs. Buffalo Bills

COLIN’S BOOM BET (But he doesn’t say it’s his boom bet. Or “boom goes the dynamite.” Instead, we found it in the app and promoted on Twitter.

Colin’s pick: Jets

Colin’s final score: Bills 24, Jets 20

Cowherd said:

“Josh Allen was bad last year. He was pretty good against Dallas and that’s the game you watched. Josh Allen was last in passing yards, passing touchdowns, completion percentage and passer rating the last two years. The coaching staff is great, he’s bad. He wasn’t good his last year at Wyoming. The Bills have scored fewer than 20 points in each of their last five games last year including the playoff loss. 6.5 points when I get the better quarterback…there is no question the Jets upgraded at wide receiver, tight end and offensive line. Buffalo may win but 6.5 points is way too many points to give the Jets. Buffalo weather won’t be an issue, LOVE the Jets +6.5.”

Actual final score: Bills 27, Jets 17

Did Colin win? No

Seattle Seahawks vs. Atlanta Falcons (+2.5)

Colin’s pick: Falcons

Colin’s final score: Falcons 24, Seahawks 23

Cowherd said:

“Like it, I love it. Atlanta is my pick of the weekend. The Falcons played really well last year and won their last four and six of their last eight to support their coach. Matt Ryan has figured out Pete Carroll. They’ve faced each other seven times and Ryan is 5-2 with a passer rating over 100 and 16 TDs. He’s done really well against Pete Carroll defenses and this is not one of his great defenses. For all their issues, Ryan and the offense isn’t the problem. As much as I love Russell Wilson, it’s really hard in the NFL to go on the road, cross-country against a Pro-Bowl-level quarterback when you have a significantly worse offensive and defensive line.”

(Hmm. So, if the Falcons are Cowherd’s “pick of the weekend” why is it not his Boom Bet? We couldn’t tell ya.)

Actual final score: Seahawks 38, Falcons 25

Did Colin win? No

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Carolina Panthers (+3.5)

Colin’s pick: Panthers

Colin’s final score: Panthers 28, Raiders 27

Cowherd said:

“I know, I know…a bunch of new stuff for Carolina. But can I just say something…of course I can, it’s my show. Teddy Bridgewater is good. Best winning percentage as a starting quarterback in the last five years. He’s 16-6 and he also has a history of walking into a playbook and figuring it out. He does not make mistakes and he’s got a world-class running back. I’ve always thought their wide receivers are underrated. The O-line is good enough. Defensively they are in a rebuild. The Raiders were a bad team last year not just on defense. Week 12 on, the Raiders were bad offensively with all those weapons. It’s a Gruden-Derek Carr issue. The Raiders were a bad road team, 2-6, and were outscored by 90 points. Worst road point differential in the NFL.”

Actual final score: Raiders 34, Panthers 30

Did Colin win? No

Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Rams (+3)

Colin’s pick: Rams

Colin’s final score: Rams 28, Cowboys 27

Cowherd said:

“I think the Rams are the better team and they are getting points at home. The Cowboys only had seven defensive interceptions last year. They don’t make offenses uncomfortable. The Rams O-line is healthy, same quarterback, same coach, same system…this is a good Rams team with a super-hyper creative head coach. Sean McVay in season openers, this is what creative head coach’s do, he’s 3-0, averages 36 points, and two of the three wins came by 20+ points. Jared Goff, for all the heat he gets, in the last four weeks, averaged 330 yards passing, second-best in the NFL. Cam Akers, rookie running back, has been the talk of the camp as has Van Jefferson. I like the Rams to win in their new stadium. A lot of points here.”

Actual final score: Rams 20, Cowboys 17

Did Colin win? Yes

Blazin’ 5 Week 1 record: 2-3

Boom Bet record – Cowherd’s “hottest pick” boosted 4x at Fox Bet: 0-1

Most casino progressive games are boom or bust, and these lucky players won big at now open Pennsylvania casinos in August.

What Are Live Dealer Games and When Are They Coming to PA Online Casinos?

Live dealer games bring social interaction elements of the live casino to online gaming, but when will players in PA have the option?

Online casinos have been live in Pennsylvania a little over a year. The safe, legal arrival of iGaming in the Commonwealth pleased players and added much-needed tax revenue during coronavirus-caused shutdowns.

Slot libraries continue to grow and currently there are eleven online casinos in PA.

However, there is something that is missing and it’s at the top of nearly every player’s wish list – live dealer games.

What is live dealer?

Live dealer games give you the chance to play casino table games, like Blackjack, at home in-real time with a live dealer.

Golden Nugget was the first to roll out live dealer in New Jersey in 2017. Since then, many more casinos have begun streaming live dealer. The most common games are Blackjack, roulette, and  baccarat.

What’s the difference?

If you were to play Blackjack now at any one of PA’s online casinos, the cards are electronically dealt by a built-in random number generator (RNG).

Live dealer games are transmitted from a remote studio and live-streamed to computers and mobile devices. A dealer, just like if you were at a casino, deals the cards.

Some reasons players prefer live dealer:

  • Social interaction
  • Slower pace
  • More entertaining than playing against RNG
  • Trust playing a live dealer more than an RNG

Live dealer tutorial via PlayUSA

When is live dealer coming to PA?

There is no firm date when live dealer will arrive in Pennsylvania but a number of operators have teased its launch.

Here is the “coming soon” timeline of live dealer in Pennsylvania.

January 2020:

Evolution Gaming signs agreement with Parx to power live dealer casinos in PA and NJ.

Parx players will be able to choose from a range of live dealer table games streamed from Evolution’s existing New Jersey studio and its planned PA studio.

Matt Cullen, Senior Vice President, Interactive Gaming and Sports at Parx Casino commented:

“Parx was the first Pennsylvania casino to offer RNG Blackjack games online, so extending our online offering to include world-leading Live Casino from Evolution is a natural next step. Our online Blackjack player base in particular will love Evolution’s Live Blackjack offering, which includes Infinite Blackjack, with no limit on the number of seats available at the table, as well as several other Blackjack variants. Overall, we are very confident that all the players types will be very excited by the rollout of Parx Live Casino in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.”

May 2020:

DraftKings launched its online casino

According to a representative from DraftKings Casino, the PA platform will ultimately have 280 games. The rest of the library will roll out in stages and include live dealer games.

“While we do not have an exact timeframe, all 280 options will follow quickly after launch including those that feature a live dealer and those that are DraftKings branded.”

August 2020:

Evolution signs deal with PointsBet, says live dealer is coming to PA.

Evolution announced a deal with PointsBet, an Australian bookmaker. While unclear whether PointsBet plans to enter the PA online casino market, what was made clear is that an Evolution live dealer studio is coming to PA by the end of 2020. Currently, Evolution has studios in New Jersey but confirmed plans for new studios in Pennsylvania and Michigan.

August 28, 2020:

A press release on Aug. 28, 2020, confirmed a partnership between Evolution Gaming and BetMGM, which plans to debut online betting products in Pennsylvania before the end of the year. The arrangement will see BetMGM become one of the first in PA (and Michigan) to offer Evolution’s suite of live dealer games. BetMGM vice president of gaming Matthew Sunderland said:

“Evolution offers everything we need to enable our brands to roll out an extremely rich, world-class online live gaming experience across the US and their new state launches roadmap is very much in accord with our own alongside building on our current leadership position in gaming in New Jersey.”

Evolution Gaming Malta CEO Johan Nordstrom said of the partnership:

“We are honored to have been chosen by BetMGM to be partners in the fast-developing US live gaming market…This is a natural extension of our existing relationship with GVC Holdings’ brands.”

Live dealer games subject to lower tax rates

Players are clamoring for live dealer in PA. Providers and operators obviously want to give them what they want. In addition, live dealer is a table game so it’s taxed at a lower rate.

Pennsylvania online gambling tax rates:

  • Online slots: 54%
  • Sports betting: 36%
  • Online table games: 16%

Sebastian Johannisson, Chief Commercial Officer at Evolution, commented:

“With table games subject to lower tax, our Live Casino is a very attractive proposition for operators too, as well as its wide appeal to players – both familiar with online and those having played in the bricks and mortar casino – offering a very important and significant contribution to operator revenues.”

DraftKings Casino App in PA ‘Designed With the iGaming Player in Mind’

DraftKings recently debuted a stand-alone online casino app in PA that caters to iGaming players with unique themed table games, and Live Dealer is coming soon.

DraftKings expanded its realm by launching a mobile casino app in Pennsylvania. Users can link accounts across DFS, sports betting and casino sites and have a shared wallet.

And now, the DraftKings stand-alone casino app is available on iOS.  However, it’s not available for Android.

DraftKings Casino designed with ‘iGaming player in mind’

DraftKings online sportsbook operates in Pennsylvania through a partnership with The Meadows. The Meadows did not apply for an online casino license, so the DraftKings iGaming platform operates under Hollywood Casino’s license.

A DraftKings spokesperson explained to Play Pennsylvania the reasoning behind the stand-alone casino app:

“While our Sportsbook app caters to sports bettors, the DraftKings Casino stand-alone app is a more wholesome product designed with the iGaming player in mind. Irrespective of the annual sports calendar, DraftKings Casino leverages our unique, in-house technology and games to offer a best-in-market gaming experience.

“The new app allows us to focus on our strengths, including our dedicated DraftKings Live Dealer studio and best-in-class DraftKings-built game suite, and highlight market-leading promotions like our monthly $250K leaderboards.”

How to download

How to download the DraftKings Casino app in Pennsylvania:

  • Go to the App Store.
  • Type “DraftKings casino” in the search bar.
  • FYI, it will appear as “DraftKings Casino NJ,” but it’s the one for PA players too. Click “Get,” then “Install.”
  • Allow DraftKings Casino to use your location (allow while using app).

DraftKings Casino games

The DraftKings Casino app in Pennsylvania has 17 table games, Game King Poker and 30 slot titles.

The biggest difference from other online casinos in PA is that DraftKings has branded and themed table games like:

  • DraftKings Blackjack
  • Classic Blackjack
  • Single Hand Blackjack
  • Pride Blackjack
  • Christmas Blackjack
  • Retro Blackjack
  • Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Football and Hockey Blackjack
  • Lunar New Year Blackjack
  • DraftKings American Roulette
  • European Roulette
  • Basketball Roulette

For min and max bets:

  • Blackjack: Minimum bet $1.00, maximum bet $5,000

Baccarat: Minimum bet $1.00, maximum bet $10,000

Game King Poker: Minimum bet $0.20, maximum bet $200

“The response in Pennsylvania has been exciting,” said a DraftKings spokesperson. “Our players have clearly been waiting for DraftKings to launch our trusted gaming experience in the state, proving demand for something different in the market. So far, the most popular games have been DraftKings Blackjack and Roulette; land-based slot titles such as Cleopatra and Wheel of Fortune always prove popular.”

Live Dealer coming to PA

As of late July, no online casino in Pennsylvania offered Live Dealer. Live Dealer is a popular online casino feature that allows users to play games like blackjack in real time, with a real dealer, from home.

A press release from DraftKings announcing the app said that customers in PA “will soon have access to the custom DraftKings Live Dealer Studio which will operate 24/7.”

When asked in mid-July about a possible time frame for the arrival of Live Dealer, a DraftKings spokesperson said they expect it to be made available within the next few months.

No Dice: Why Can’t You Play Craps at PA Online Casinos?

Online casinos in Pennsylvania are growing stronger in total bets, revenue and game offerings, but why is it that you still can’t play craps online in PA?

The craps tables are usually the most lively spots on the gaming floor.

Before social distancing and player limits, craps drew a crowd to gather around the nonstop action.

When casinos closed in mid-March to slow the spread of coronavirus, players went online, where they found similar land-based slot titles and table games.

Except something was missing at PA online casinos: Craps.

Online craps approved in PA, but operators not offering it

Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Director of Communication Doug Harbach said that there is an approved craps game for online play. However, none of the iGaming operators are offering it. He said:

“It appears to be a business decision by the license holders.”

A spokesperson from DraftKings said:

“We explore all options to create the most dynamic iGaming experience for our customers.”

When some other operators were asked to comment, they declined.

An industry source said it’s hard to recreate the land-based experience online with craps.

Craps at New Jersey online casinos

In New Jersey, five iGaming operators have craps as an option. However, the game is only available to play via desktop and not mobile. The minimum bet is $1, and the max bet ranges from $50 to $500.

  • Virgin Casino (Craps – Gamesys)
  • Tropicana Casino (Craps – Gamesys)
  • Pala Casino (Craps – NYX Gaming)
  • Borgata Casino (Craps Pro)
  • Party Casino (Craps Pro)

Difference between playing craps online and at a land-based casino

Pre-COVID-19, patrons crowded the craps tables. During visits to some PA casinos during their reopening days, some players were lined up (socially distanced) waiting their turn for a spot. Perhaps the biggest difference is there is no wait to play craps online.

Here are some other big differences between online and land-based craps:

  1. You can’t quite duplicate the energy of the craps table — the yelling, clapping and personalities — online.
  2. Table minimums are much lower online ($1). In PA brick-and-mortar casinos, a $10 minimum on a weekday is common.
  3. Craps is a fast-paced game that is intimidating to newcomers. Online, players can adjust the pace to suit them.
  4. A regular craps player might choose to play faster. Some online craps have a turbo option that eliminates the simulated dice roll. It reveals the end result immediately, so players can speed up the action online.
  5. All PA online casinos have deposit bonuses. Your bankroll thus starts a bit higher than it would if you just walked into a casino.
  6. In the online version, you won’t be touching dice that others have handled — which is important in the current climate of virus concerns.

Online casinos a welcome addition to PA

All casinos in Pennsylvania shut down in mid-March to slow the spread of coronavirus. After over one hundred days dark, they began to reopen in June.

As only one of four states with legal iGaming, the relatively new vertical in Pennsylvania experienced record-breaking revenue in May and June. Currently, table game offerings at the state’s online casinos consist of blackjack, roulette and baccarat. Also, online poker via the state’s sole operator (for now) saw a surge in play during the live poker and casino shutdown.

After recording $43.1 million iGaming revenue in April, it grew to $55.8 million in May, a 35.5% month-over-month increase. June saw a slight dip, but it was still the second-best month for online gaming in PA.

PA online casino numbers in June, compared to May:

  • Slots brought in nearly $1.03 billion in total bets and $36.8 million in revenue. (May: $1.1 billion in total bets and $38.8 million in revenue.)
  • Table games attracted $635.7 million in wagers and $10.0 million in revenue. (May: $778.5 million in wagers and $12.4 million in revenue.)

Can you play craps online in Pennsylvania?

The short answer is not yet, but it’s far from out of the question in PA, especially considering there is a PGCB-approved online craps game and NJ offers online craps.

Recent safety concerns associated with social distancing and sharing dice at live casinos could provide more motivation for online operators to add the game to their offerings.

Player’s Choice: Online Slots Or Table Games? The Answer Might Surprise You

Pennsylvania online casinos have shown an interesting trend that defies industry expectations as players flock to online table games over slots.

In the confines of brick-and-mortar casinos, slots are more popular than table games. It’s long been the preference of players to sidle up to the slot machine instead of taking their turn at the table.

In terms of revenue in 2019, slot machines in Pennsylvania raked in $2.4 billion compared to table games’ $900 million.

However, with the arrival of PA online casinos, recent numbers hint at a shift.

More wagers recently at online table games

Table games have yet to surpass slots in terms of revenue. But in November and December, table games saw more action than online slots.

Total wagers for online casinos in November:

  • Online table games: $176,459,102
  • Online slots: $140,300,742

Total wagers at online casinos in December:

  • Online table games: $209,993,140
  • Online slots: $175,330,191

Perhaps it was just a matter of timing that the statewide numbers skewed this way. Initial offerings at casinos consisted of mostly slots. As rosters added table games, data from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) shows that the players’ attention shifted to the tables.

Big things happened to the gaming industry in 2019

Five online casinos arrived in Pennsylvania in 2019.

  • Hollywood Casino
  • SugarHouse
  • Parx
  • Mount Airy (PokerStars)
  • Mohegan Sun (Unibet)

At Hollywood Casino, slots have outperformed table games each month. So far, it’s the only casino in PA where that is the case.

Table games topped slots three of the last six months at Parx. Parx was the only operator with online blackjack and gained an early advantage until the other casinos added the game in late August.

Fueled by progressive slot favorite Divine Fortune, slots ruled at SugarHouse. But in November, table games surpassed slots for the first time, and it did so by nearly $20 million. SugarHouse leads PA online casinos in revenue for both slots and table games.

Mount Airy (PokerStars) had the biggest gulf. In November, table games saw $37 million in action while slot play hit only $10.8 million.  The numbers continued to grow the following month as table games ($54 million) widened the gap from slots ($19 million).

It has the benefit of being the only operator in Pennsylvania offering internet poker. Also, PokerStars Casino features 13 table games, which is more than Parx (10) and SugarHouse (seven).

What’s next?

Table games receiving more wagers than slots is an anomaly. Players prefer slots because they are easier to learn and play. Most table games require a level of skill. Pennsylvania has proven different (so far) when it comes to online play.

The PGCB publishes a monthly breakdown of online slot and table games. Since New Jersey does not split their report but rather lists online casinos as a whole, it’s difficult to see what is more popular there. But the best guess is slots are more popular.

For operators, the popularity of table games in PA is no doubt welcome news. A major reason is table games are subject to a much lower tax rate (16%) than slots (54%).

Parx already is upping the ante to capitalize on the clear interest in online table games that exist in Pennsylvania. They will soon become the first in the state to host online live dealer games, including roulette, blackjack and poker. With these additions, table game revenue could outpace slots, even more, going forward.

Did Colin Cowherd Win? He Ended 2019 With A Dud Week But A 50-50 Year

Colin Cowherd’s NFL picks for FOX Bet started out red hot, but the back half of the season was lackuster, including a 0-5 Week 17.

It was a very Colin Cowherd Christmas. With his spirits soaring from a 4-1 Week 16, Cowherd headed into the holiday happy.

His timeline was filled with Christmas cheer from train sets, puppies, courtside seats to the Utah Jazz, and a family snowmobiling excursion.

So excuse Cowherd if he didn’t have time to record his Blazin’ 5 segment and only post his picks. But you might have a hard time defending his winless Week 17. Cowherd missed on all five games. Bah humbug.

Hey, the time between Christmas and New Years is a confusing, muddled space. Maybe Cowherd knew even if he missed on all the games he would still finish the season one game above .500.

A week after calling Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz the “closest thing to Patrick Mahomes,” Cowherd continued to heap on the praise:

He obviously doesn’t think Wentz is worth betting his money on though. It’s the second straight week he’s bet against the Eagles…and has lost.

However, Cowherd did bring back his Marquee 3 since its moniker is made for the College Football Playoff, or at least one game was. Cowherd picked Clemson (-2) correctly but badly whiffed on Oklahoma (+14)

Every week we track Cowherd’s picks so you know how he is faring before you follow his bets at FOX Bet or on your PA sports betting apps.

Cowherd’s college football bowl week picks

#3 Clemson (-2) vs. #2 Ohio State

Colin’s pick: Clemson

Colin’s final score: Clemson 36, Ohio State 30

Cowherd said: “I like Clemson to win by a touchdown. I think we are undervaluing Clemson. We look at their conference and say they haven’t played anybody and that is a huge benefit. They are healthy. They’ve got a ton of depth. I believe when you don’t know who is going to win you go with the coaching staff in college and I think Clemson has the best coaching staff by a wide margin. Trevor Lawrence, since Week 9, good luck. Ohio State’s defense gets the credit, I could argue Clemson’s is actually better. First in the country in multiple categories. Trevor Lawrence since Week 9 has been unstoppable. I don’t think the ACC is great but who in the Big 10 is amazing outside of Ohio State? Right now Ohio State’s defense is good but in the last four games they are allowing 21 ppg. Clemson, NFL running back, NFL quarterback, NFL offensive line, NFL tight end, NFL receivers.”

Actual final score: Clemson 29, Ohio State 23

Did Colin win?: Yes

#1 LSU  vs. #4 oklahoma (+14)

Colin’s pick: Oklahoma

Colin’s final score: LSU 41, Oklahoma 30

Cowherd said: “Oklahoma is going to hear they are going to get crushed. Do you know the number one seed has never won the College Football Playoff? Oklahoma is hearing how irrelevant they are. Jalen Hurts is the only quarterback with thirty passing touchdowns and fifteen rushing touchdowns. They are going to move the ball. LSU’s defense is good but was gashed by lesser offenses. Oklahoma’s defense was pathetic last year, it was first in the Big 12 this year. We’ve seen Oklahoma in these big games against SEC teams. They gave Georgia trouble, they beat Alabama years ago. Oklahoma is big boy football. I think this game is going to feel very very close. And I do think LSU escapes.”

Actual final score: LSU 63, Oklahoma 28

Did Colin win?: No

#22 USC vs #16 iowa (-2)

Colin’s pick: Iowa

Colin’s final score: Iowa 28, USC 24

Cowherd said: “I think this is a coaching mismatch of otherwise two very even teams. The Trojans have better perimeter players. Iowa’s got better line play including one of my favorite offensive and defensive lineman. USC football, second-most turnovers in the PAC-12 and lots of penalties. That has been a hallmark of Clay Helton football. The last two years, bowl record .500, out of conference about .500. The Big 10 is 6-1 against the PAC-12 in bowl games the last two years. Iowa’s offensive line is much better than USC’s offensive line. The pass rush from Iowa will be a problem for USC’s freshman quarterback.”

Actual final score: Iowa 49, USC 24
