Like, New Jersey online casinos, PA online sites are adding new games every day. We understand that you don’t want to constantly be looking at the sites to see what’s new, so we’re doing the work for you.

Nov. 15: One new slot title at Parx

Fairytale Legends: Red Riding Hood, a NetEnt slot with 20 pay-lines and seven bonus features, has come to Parx.

Nov. 7: Multi-hand blackjack is back at two casinos and added to SugarHouse

Appears the issues which caused Parx and Sugarhouse to pull Net Ent’s multi-hand blackjack just a week ago are fixed. The game is now back on those sites.

Now it is also available on Hollywood’s online casino site.

Oct. 31: Multi-hand blackjack pulled from Parx and SugarHouse

It appears we spoke too soon about multi-hand blackjack by NetEnt. Shortly after debuting, both Parx and SugarHouse pulled the game. During an online chat with customer service, they said that blackjack was down for maintenance by the game provider and would be back up as soon as possible.

Of course, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is aware when games get taken down from PA online casinos. They say it’s done due to technical issues or glitches in the software that causes the game to not work the way it’s supposed to. The game is removed until the error fixed. Then, it is retested in the PGCB lab before being returned to the site.

Oct 25: Parx adds multi-hand Blackjack

Players at Parx online casino might notice a new blackjack. This differs from the other option, Pro BlackJack. The new blackjack game is by a different provider, NetEnt. It allows players to play up to three hands at once instead of just a single hand.

Parx also added a pair of slots, Motörhead and Blood Suckers 2.

Hollywood Casino added two new slots, Spiñata Grande and Motörhead.

Oct. 23: SugarHouse adds Blackjack

Of the three online casinos in PA, SugarHouse was the only one to not offer Blackjack. It’s not the case anymore. SugarHouse has added Blackjack to their list of offerings.

Motörhead, a slot game inspired by the English rock band, also recently made its debut at SugarHouse.

Oct. 12: SugarHouse and Parx add more online slots

SugarHouse has been quiet since the end of July. They sweetened their online slot offerings with the addition of:

  • Smokin 777
  • Double Jackpot
  • Meltdown
  • Tiger 7s
  • Vortex

Parx added five new slot games as well:

  • Enchanting Pixie
  • Grand Dragon
  • Sheer Magic
  • Treasure Voyage
  • Winning Wolf

Oct. 11: Divine Fortunes strikes one Parx customer

According to an email Parx Online Casino sent to customers, the site finally had a Divine jackpot hit. The winner binked a $106,323 prize.

Both Hollywood Casino and PlaySugarHouse had reported Divine Fortune progressive jackpot winners in recent weeks. In fact, the SugarHouse jackpot hit five times in September alone, twice to the same person.

Meanwhile, the PlaySugarHouse Divine Fortune jackpot is getting big and fast. The major jackpot on the game sits at over $261,000.

Oct. 4: Parx Casino has a couple of new options

After a long stretch with no new games to try out, Parx Casino added two new titles at the top of the month.

Now Parx online casino players can also play both Twin Spin Deluxe and Jack Hammer 2 slot games.

Sept. 18: Two more titles at Parx Casino

Parx Casino made room for two new games in the library this week. One is a new slot, while the other is (yet) another version of roulette.

French roulette from NetEnt is now an option for Parx Online Casino. On the slot front, players now have access to  Mirror Mirror.

Sept. 17: Double the inventory, double the fun on Hollywood iPhone app

For a while, we were giving Hollywood Online Casino a certain amount of credit for getting listed in the Apple App Store. However, with five games, there wasn’t a ton to get excited about. (Though, to be fair, IGT Game King video poker is really nine game variants in one).

However, Hollywood is now offering more than double that number of games for iPhone users. Most notably, it brings the first option for PA casino players to access blackjack on their iPhone device in PA.

Here’s a rundown of the full list of titles:

  • IGT Blackjack
  • Game King
  • Cleopatra
  • Wheel of Fortune Extreme
  • Davinci Diamonds
  • Wheel of Fortune Hawaiian Getaway
  • Triple Diamond
  • Cats
  • Wolf Run
  • Siberian Storm
  • Golden Goddess
  • Pixies of the Forest

Aug. 21: Hit Me! Hollywood adds classic blackjack

It has been about a week since a new game hit the PA online casino scene, but the latest is a good one. The era of Parx’s online blackjack monopoly is over. HollywoodCasino.com added a classic version of the popular table game to its titles.

The blackjack game is available on desktop and on the Android app. Unfortunately, the limited number of titles on the iPhone app has not changed, so no blackjack for iOS users just yet.

Aug. 12: Parx adds Divine Fortune, Big Prize Bubble Gum

As of today, all three Pennsylvania online casinos are in the divine progressive slot business. Divine Fortune is one of two new additions to the Parx Casino library. It is the site’s first progressive slot.

To give you an idea of how quickly these progressive slot jackpots are growing, the SugarHouse version of the game currently boasts a nearly $80,000 jackpot.

The other new title is Big Prize Bubble Gum, which is a new one for the PA online casino market. Its big claim to fame is 1,024 pay combos, which gives players more than a thousand ways to win.

Aug. 6: Missing slots return to Parx lineup

False alarm, folks! Just one day after disappearing from the lineup, China Shores and African Diamond are back in the library at Parx Online Casino.

Aug. 5: More games disappear from Parx library

First it was Deuces Wild, now some online slot titles are gone from your Parx Online Casino options.

The good news for Parx customers is that there is progress on the online sportsbook front. As of Monday, the Parx Online Sportsbook is available for download in the Apple app store. It is the first new sports betting app to get listed in the store for PA users.

Perhaps in tandem with squaring things up for sportsbook launch, some of the games had to go? Two titles that are missing are African Diamond and China Shores.

What is important to note is there is still no iOS app for Parx Online Casino though, that any connection between the new app and the missing games are purely conjecture.

Aug. 1: Hollywood gets its own progressive Divine Fortune

After several days with no major updates, there is finally a new title in an online casino’s library. It’s a good one too.

Like SugarHouse, HollywoodCasino.com can now boast a progressive jackpot slot, as it too has added Divine Fortune to the library.

According to the info on Hollywood, the game offers a 96.6% return to player (RTP). The 20-payline game has a minimum bet of $.20 and a max bet of $100.

July 26: Divine Fortune brings PA’s first progressive jackpot

There are four new titles in the SugarHouse library, but the one that stands out above the rest is Divine Fortune.

The introduction of the title is more than just a new game. It is the state’s first progressive jackpot slot to hit the market.

If you’re unfamiliar with progressive jackpots, these are slot titles where the top jackpot grows the more users play without anyone hitting it. They are already very popular in New Jersey, with some jackpots growing to be over $2 million.

If you’re a music fan, the three other new titles might pique your interest. They are all focused around popular musical acts:

  • Guns N’ Roses
  • Jimi Hendrix
  • Motorhead

July 24: Deuces Wild disappears from Parx

Rather than any new game announcements, we have our first disappearance from a title list.

Parx Casino launched with two types of video poker, Jacks or Better and Deuces Wild. Now though, there is only one. Deuces Wild is no longer on the list of games, leaving video poker fans with the one option.

If you are looking for video poker elsewhere in Pennsylvania, your only other option is Hollywood Casino. The good news is, that site offers the IGT Game King video poker suite, which features nine different variants of the game.

July 22: Busy week for sports betting, slow start for casino

The weekend came and went with no new game options for PA players seeking more slots and table games options. None of the three casinos added any new titles on Monday.

However, today something new is coming to market eventually. FanDuel Sportsbook at Valley Forge Casino should be rolling out testing on its online betting app at any moment.

July 19: Week ends with NetEnt near-monopoly

Friday was a slow day for the three PA online casinos headed into their first weekend on the market. Here is a look at the latest game counts:

SugarHouse:

  • Slots: 37
  • Table games: 3

Parx:

  • Slots: 41
  • Table games: 6

Hollywood:

  • Slots: 66
  • Table games: 14

July 18: SugarHouse adds roulette

After opening Wednesday with only 22 slot titles, PlaySugarHouse is now offering table games. Effective Thursday, SugarHouse is officially offering online table games in the form of three types of online roulette.

Those are:

  • American roulette
  • European roulette
  • French roulette

A quick lesson in roulette odds for those new to the game. You always want to find versions of roulette with just a single zero on the wheel. Those offer the best odds for casino players.

The good news for SugarHouse players is that both European and French roulette offer just that. Plus, if you are seeking more volatile odds, American roulette, with its 0 and 00, is still in the mix.

Online Sports Betting By May, Online Casinos July 15

After more than a year, the launch dates for PA online gambling expansion are finally set. Early May for sports betting. July 15 for online casino.

No more speculation. There are now firm dates when Pennsylvania online gambling will get underway.

Online casinos go live July 15

The most concrete of the two dates is online casino launch. Rather than have sites go as they are ready, there will be one launch date.

All casinos ready to go live on July 15 can. That gives the 10 PA casinos with interactive gaming licenses with roughly three months to prepare.

PA sports betting apps online by May

As for PA sports betting apps, those will be here even sooner. This week, the PA Gaming Control Board (PGCB) confirmed to Legal Sports Report that the live testing phase of the first betting app is only 2-3 weeks away.

The PGCB will test and launch sports betting apps as they are ready. It may be a slow sports season. However, with Pennsylvania teams making runs in both the NHL and NBA playoffs, there are reasons to move quickly.

Keep in mind that the most recent sportsbook applicants will be behind the first movers. PGCB does not allow an online launch until the retail sportsbook is up and running.

Presque Isle Downs is the next retail book to open. It will launch on June 1. Meanwhile, Mount Airy Casino and Mohegan Sun Pocono are still at the beginning of the application process. That means, unlike everyone else, they will need to move quickly to be up and running in time for football.

Expect a rush of new online casinos July 15

With a simultaneous casino launch, expect most of the PA interactive gaming providers to be ready to go in July. With the single date, the playing field is a little more level, so casinos will want to take advantage.

Don’t expect to see all 10 operators in action though. Stadium Casino and Sands Bethlehem are two examples of properties that will run behind the rest. Neither has moved ahead on their interactive gaming plans beyond obtaining the licenses.

Online poker will have less of a mad rush

There are currently eight active online poker licenses. Frankly, there is not enough interest in the game for eight PA online poker sites.

With the Wire Act opinion potentially threatening the viability of interstate compacting, casinos realize there is not much money in poker.

You will likely see a couple of sites launch in July. But don’t be surprised if some of the eight shelve their online poker plans indefinitely.

After Selling Sands Bethlehem, Adelson Out To Get Sands Bethlehem

Be it a push for a new Wire Act opinion or a proposed NYC casino, Sheldon Adelson is making life hard on the incoming Sands Bethlehem owners.

There is a reason Sheldon Adelson is a billionaire. He can be a ruthless businessman. His company, Las Vegas Sands Corp., is proving that to be the case with its actions since selling Sands Bethlehem Casino for $1.3 billion.

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians will soon be the owners of the Pennsylvania casino. The tribe’s company, Wind Creek Hospitality, took a big risk with the purchase. However, the property’s success and the chance to be a part of the PA online casino industry.

Now though, all that is in jeopardy. And Adelson and Sands are mostly to blame.

Sands lobbying for an NYC casino

Part of the reason Sands Bethlehem is one of the top-performing casinos in the state is its proximity to New York City. The Big Apple is just 86 miles away. That makes Sands Bethlehem just about the closest resort-style casino to the city.

Currently, there are no large casinos in the five boroughs. More than one casino company is trying to change that. Last week, representatives from both MGM and Sands met with New York lawmakers about an NYC casino project.

Adelson started the push for an NYC property late last year. In other words, once he sold his Pennsylvania casino, he began the push for a casino that would massively impact the customer traffic at that casino.

The NYC casino is far from a sure thing. Just six years ago, the state agreed to expand gambling with upstate commercial casinos.

All of those projects are financially floundering, so putting a casino in the city that would further negatively impact those properties is a tough sell. Especially when you consider that Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s position on gambling expansion is not to consider new projects that have a negative financial impact on existing ones.

Thank Adelson for the new Wire Act opinion, too

The attack on Sands Bethlehem isn’t just limited to pillaging its New York customer base. Adelson is also purportedly behind the new interpretation of the Wire Act released in January.

A longtime crusader against online gambling, Adelson certainly appreciates the new DOJ interpretation of the gambling law. The new view casts such a wide net that just about any type of gaming that involves an internet connection is at risk.

This means the online gaming industry Poarch Band of Creek Indians bought its way into is suddenly at risk. The good news for the group is that the delays the Wire Act is causing on launch dates actually helps them more than hurts them.

Because the Sands Bethlehem sale is not final, Wind Creek cannot really move forward on its online gambling plans. Sands representatives appeared in order to apply for the casino’s interactive licenses before the deadline. That is about all the progress they have made.

In the short term, the delay will shorten the window between when competitors launch and Sands Bethlehem launches online. However, the broader view is that the potential ramifications for the entire industry could be disastrous.

Wind Creek still moving forward with PA casino plans

Lehigh Valley Live recently reported on Wind Creek’s plans for the Bethlehem property. The deal includes the sale of the outlet mall, events center, and some of the historical steelworks.

Additionally, one of the first projects is a $190 million expansion that includes 300 new rooms. Another idea floating around is an indoor water park.

Wind Creek remains committed to making the property a success. But they can’t be happy that the current owners seem committed to making the new owner’s life as difficult as possible.

Mount Airy And PokerStars Enter Into Committed PA Gambling Partnership

Mount Airy may be a small Pennsylvania casino, but it landed a big-time partner for online casino and sports betting in PokerStars owner The Stars Group.

Mount Airy Casino Resort is making moves.

The casino that managed to get a law-protected buffer from satellite casinos as well as satellite casino — Mount Airy Pittsburgh — has now announced it will partner with The Stars Group to offer online sports betting and an online casino, pending licensing approvals from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).

“Offering internet sports wagering and gaming and partnering with The Stars Group is the obvious next step for us to continue diversifying our casino offerings,” Mount Airy Vice President of Marketing and Gaming Operations Vincent Jordan said in a press release. “Introducing internet gaming through The Stars Group will provide compelling opportunities for our customers, particularly our younger customers, who are ready to experience the next gaming challenge.”

According to multiple reports, PokerStars, one of The Stars Group’s companies, will run Mount Airy’s online casino, online sports betting, and online poker.

Details of potenital Mount Airy online offerings

The press release from Mount Airy and The Stars Group did not go into detail about what their online platform would look like.

However, they did provide a somewhat basic framework of what could be ahead:

  • Single account
  • Common wallet between casino, sports betting and poker platforms
  • Multiple deposit and withdrawal options
  • “Seamless offering of betting and gaming options”

The Stars Group’s reputation certainly warrants that their product will be excellent, as their multiple brands include respected names like PokerStars, Full Tilt and BetStars.

The group’s announcement earlier this week is the second time this month they’ve made news. On Aug. 1, they announced that BetStars won approval for a sports betting license through Resorts Casino in Atlantic City.

Mount Airy second in PA to announce online gambling, sports betting

In mid-July, Parx Casino announced its partnership with online operator GAN, a well-known company whose relationship with Parx goes all the way back to 2015.

The partnership broke what was a somewhat awkward silence during a period of time when the online gambling community wondered when the PGCB would get applications for online sports betting.

It certainly made sense that Parx, the perennial revenue champion in the state, led the way with the first online sports-betting and online casino partnership; the first in the history of the state, to be exact.

That it took some time for casinos to petition for sports betting and online casino licenses led many to wonder if the state’s tax rate for sports betting — 36 percent — was scaring off casinos.

While the rate is more than four times as high as neighboring New Jersey, it did not deter Parx and Mount Airy. High taxes or not, online gambling presents a revenue opportunity, an opportunity that at least two casinos are happy to embrace.

SugarHouse Casino Celebrates Online Gambling Launch

The holidays are upon us and SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia is kicking party season off with a fete of its own this week.

The holidays are upon us and SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia is kicking party season off with a fete of its own this week.

The Pennsylvania casino launched its real-money online gambling offering in New Jersey in September. The property is owned by Rush Street Gaming, but the online gambling license was issued through the Golden Nugget. Golden Nugget also operates Betfair in the Garden State.

More on the SugarHouse launch party

The real money online casino in New Jersey is not the only thing the property is celebrating.

PlaySugarHouse.com also features a free-play version for casino and bingo that can be found at SugarHouse4Fun.com. The property is hosting a launch party for those offerings on Friday from 2 pm to 8 pm. The festivities will take place inside The Refinery restaurant inside the casino.

Attendees can get help downloading the free-play client, earn free bonus money for PlaySugarHouse, and earn free credits to play on SugarHouse4Fun. The party will feature over $1,000 in giveaways.

More on PlaySugarHouse

Both the real-money and free-play SugarHouse sites offer over 240 different casino games.

Some of the offerings include:

  • Video poker
  • A wide range of slots games
  • Blackjack

The real money offering is currently only available in New Jersey, which regulates online casinos. Anyone in the US can play on the free-play site or download the SugarHouse app to their mobile device.

Players must be at least 21 years of age.

The future of PlaySugarHouse?

There is a chance SugarHouse Casino could be offering its real-money platform in its home state in the future. The efforts to pass online gaming legislation in Pennsylvania are currently on hiatus until 2017.

The state House has been eager to get a bill through. Approval from the state Senate has been more difficult to win.

Should legislation pass, SugarHouse will already be operational in a neighboring state. It would be poised to be one of the first to market with a PA online casino.

The New Jersey online casino is a new addition in a market that has been up and running since November of 2013. It is the new kid on the block and competes with offerings from Caesars, Borgata and PokerStars/Resorts among others.

SugarHouse may be the new kid on the block, but Golden Nugget’s online casino has been performing extremely well. Online Poker Report observed Golden Nugget was the first online operator to ever crack $4 million in casino revenue just last month. PlaySugarHouse and Golden Nugget are operating under the same gaming license.

Most online casino operators in New Jersey are affiliated with Atlantic City casino properties. SugarHouse is the first casino in the Philadelphia area to offer real money casino gambling.

It will be interesting to see if SugarHouse’s position as a casino on the western side of the state will result in any sort of competitive advantage online.
