Colin Cowherd said it was a weekend of clarity in the NFL. What seems clear so far with his Blazin 5′ picks is that they are unreliable. He followed up an awful 1-4 Week Five with a subpar 2-3 Week Six.
“Coming off a crappy week, it’s time to get my act together,” Cowherd said before revealing his Week Six picks.
Maybe next time, Colin.
Hot takes from Colin Cowherd this week
Maybe Tom Brady wasn’t in the mood to shake Nick Foles’ hand. No big deal.
Carson Wentz and Travis Fulgham, you’ve been warned.
Justin Herbert is the next star quarterback in the NFL.
The Bills offense is so much fun.
Colin Cowherd’s 2020 Week 6 NFL picks
Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 airs on “The Herd” on Fridays at 1 p.m. EST. We break down his picks for you here and follow up on Monday with his results.
If Fox Bet Sportsbook users wager on Cowherd’s “Boom Bet” and it wins, they can quadruple their winnings.
Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (-4)
BOOM BET: Steelers beat the Browns and Roethlisberger throws for 300 yards boosted from (+240) to +300.
Cowherd’s pick: Steelers
Colin’s final score: Steelers 28, Browns 21
Cowherd said:
“Baker Mayfield is not 100%, and that leads me to believe they will keep him out of the crosshairs and have a conservative game plan. Big Ben has owned the Browns. His career at home versus Cleveland, he’s 11-0 with a 103.5 passer rating. The Steelers lead the NFL with 20 sacks and 70 pressures. Their rush defense is great and will force Baker to play fast, and he doesn’t play well fast. “
Actual final score: Steelers 38, Browns 7
Did Colin win? Yes (but Roethlisberger did not throw for 300 yards). So the Boom Bet was a bust.
Denver Broncos vs. New England Patriots (-9.5)
Colin’s pick: Patriots
Colin’s final score: Patriots 32, Broncos 16
Cowherd said:
“Like New England, I love New England. Don’t fight it, young quarterbacks get annihilated by Belichick. Patrick Mahomes struggled with him. Drew Lock is not 100%, and he is going to struggle. Denver is awful at Foxboro. The Patriots average 39 points a game and are 5-0 since 2008, with a massive turnover differential. I love New England in a blowout.”
Actual final score: Broncos 18, Patriots 12
Did Colin win? No
Baltimore Ravens (-7.5) vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Colin’s pick: Ravens
Colin’s final score: Ravens 33, Eagles 23
Cowherd said:
“Baltimore is not as dynamic offensively as last year. But their defense has been great at creating turnovers (second in NFL). They are top 5 in sacks. Lane Johnson missed this week. The Eagles continue to struggle with help at o-line and wide receivers. The Ravens have won 13 games by 14 or more since the start of last season; don’t sell all your stock. The Eagles are feisty but remain turnover plagued on offense. John Harbaugh wants to get this offense back. If he leads, he will pile it on.”
Actual final score: Ravens 30, Eagles 28
Did Colin win? No
Green Bay Packers (-1) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Colin’s pick: Packers
Colin’s final score: Packers 27, Buccaneers 24
Cowherd said:
“I know a lot of wise guys like the Buccaneers, but I’ll take Green Bay. The Packers do multiple things, but one thing very well. You can’t get to Aaron Rodgers, and they get to your quarterback. He will be the more comfortable quarterback. The Packers are the most explosive offense yards per play in the league. Davante Adams is back. I still think this is an offense in Tampa that is growing, with Godwin and Evans still not 100%.”
Actual final score: Buccaneers 38, Packers 10
Did Colin win? No
Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers (+3.5)
Colin’s pick: 49ers
Colin’s final score: 49ers 26, Rams 24
Cowherd said:
“What do I always say? Bet a well-coached team that was humiliated the week before. This division is the best in football. This is the season for the Niners. If they don’t win this weekend, they are in an uphill battle for a wild card spot. Their defense is still playing good football despite what you saw last week. They are top 5 in total YPG and pass TD allowed. They still run the football well, they are still well-coached, they still play really good defense. The Rams are a good football team, but the urgency here is on the Niners. It’s the game of the season and they have to win. I’m calling an upset.”
Actual final score: 49ers 24, Rams 16
Did Colin win? Yes
Blazin’ 5 Week 6 record: 2-3
Colin Cowherd’s 2020 Blazin’ 5 season record: 12-17-1
Boom Bet record — Cowherd’s “hottest pick” boosted 4X at Fox Bet: 2-4.
