The fireside might not be the only thing blazing bright this Christmas. After leaving PA sports bettors out in the cold without an odds boost for six of the past eight weeks, Cowherd had a hot Week 14. His Blazin 5′ picks were 4-1.
Three of his Blazin’ 5 picks need to cover for Pennsylvania sports bettors using FOX Bet Sportsbook to double their money with FOX Bet’s odds boost.
Cowherd would have had a winning week but he got “crazy.” He picked the Cardinals +2.5 who lost 23-17 to the Steelers. It was the second week in a row he got burned by the Cardinals.
It seems like Cowherd’s Marquee 3 went on a break over Thanksgiving. It returned for conference championship week for what should be considered a Christmas miracle. Cowherd broke an 0-for-the-season slump when all three of his picks covered.
Every week we track Cowherd’s picks so you know how he is faring before you follow his bets at FOX Bet or on your PA sports betting apps.
Cowherd’s college football Conference Championship Week picks
#5 Utah vs. #13 Oregon (+6.5)
Colin’s pick: Oregon
Colin’s final score: Utah 24, Oregon 23
Cowherd said: “I think Oregon’s defense is better than everybody thinks. Oregon leads the PAC-12 in sacks and interceptions. This is not a defense that just lays down. It’s a really good defense. Justin Herbert has faced this Utah personnel twice and he’s been very good against them, six touchdowns no picks. Oregon’s offensive line is the strength of the team. They got three NFL players. Their offensive line has 213 career starts, the most in the nation. Utah’s defense is loaded but they’ve only faced one ranked team this year. Oregon is going to score some points. I think it’s low scoring and very close. ”
Actual final score: Oregon 37, Utah 15
Did Colin win?: Yes
#2 LSU (-7) vs. #4 Georgia
Colin’s pick: LSU
Colin’s final score: LSU 36, Georgia 27
Cowherd said: “I like LSU and I like them big. Georgia’s top two receivers won’t be healthy. This receiving corps, not a lot of over-the-top components. Jake Fromm has struggled. The last four games he’s completing about 50% of his throws. Their best running back, D’Andre Swift is hurt. I think this is a banged-up Georgia offense that has had issues all year being a big-play offense. Joe Burrow is on fire. He’s number one in the nation in virtually everything. He’s got a great o-line, a stud running back. LSU has won 13 straight and they are 4-0 against top ten teams this year. LSU is not only good and not only hot but they’ve been very good and tested multiple times. I think their offense if frightening. They remind me a lot of Clemson. .”
Actual final score: LSU 37, Georgia 10
Did Colin win?: Yes
#1 Ohio State vs #8 Wisconsin(+16)
Colin’s pick: Wisconsin
Colin’s final score: Ohio State 33, Wisconsin 20
Cowherd said: “Ohio State is better but I’m going to take the 16 points. The last two times a team lost by thirty-plus and it was a rematch in the same the season, the team that lost the first game won the rematch. Wisconsin got blown out and lost by 31. Wisconsin is a real team. They beat Michigan. The Buckeyes defense is good. The first nine games, it was incredible. The last three games they’ve given up 22 a game, only two sacks. Wisconsin is on a four-game winning streak and their offense has been rolling the past few games. Ohio State is the better team, they are off the Michigan game and may be looking ahead. Wisconsin is just too well-coached. They have the best interior offensive lineman and the best running back in the country. They keep it close for a while. I think it feels very close late in the third quarter.
Actual final score: Ohio State 32, Wisconsin 21
Did Colin win?: Yes
Conference championship week record:3-0
Season college football overall record: 16-26
Marquee 3 Super Boost record (requires winning all three games): 1-13
Colin Cowherd’s Week 14 NFL picks
“I’m at 51.5 %. I love four of my picks this week,” said Cowherd on The Herd before giving out his Blazin’5 picks.
Baltimore Ravens(-6) vs. Buffalo Bills
Colin’s pick: Ravens
Colin’s final score: Ravens 30, Bills 20
Cowherd said: “Like Baltimore, I love them -6. I don’t care that it’s in Buffalo. Lamar Jackson has 14 touchdowns and three picks on the road. He’s a great road quarterback. Baltimore is a great early team. 151-79 edge in the first half. What does that mean? Josh Allen is going to be playing from behind. He’s still young. Buffalo is coming off their biggest win of the decade against the Cowboys. Baltimore won last week but did not think it played particularly well. They are still fighting for the number one seed.”
Actual final score: Ravens 24 , Bills 17
Did Colin win?: Yes
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns (-7.5)
Colin’s pick: Browns
Colin’s final score: Browns 32, Bengals 23
Cowherd said: “This number is fluctuating. It’s a good number, though, if you are a bettor. Freddie Kitchens gets exposed when he plays a Pete Carroll, Sean McVay, Mike Tomlin…but this week he faces Zac Taylor and there is no big coaching advantage. But there is a huge personnel advantage. Cleveland’s got a very good defensive front with or without Myles Garrett. The Bengals have a bad offensive line. The Browns defense is top five or six in many categories. Freddie Kitchens and the staff are coaching for their lives. Cincinnati’s staff is intact. Baker Mayfield’s played them well before.”
Actual final score: Browns 27, Bengals 19
Did Colin win?: Yes
Denver broncos (+8.5) vs. Houston Texans
Colin’s pick: Broncos
Colin’s final score: Texans 27, Broncos 23
Cowherd said: “I love this pick. The Texans come off one of their biggest wins in a decade beating the Patriots on television, ‘oh my God, the Texans are amazing.’ No, they are not. They are an average team who has a ridiculous wide receiving corps and a brilliant young quarterback who makes plays. They look like flag football half the time but do you trust them? I trust the defense in the game, Vic Fangio and Denver. After a lousy start, they are 4-4 and a tough out. Fangio could be coaching for his job here. Denver’s defense is ranked number one in the red zone, number five pass defense, they force you into field goals instead of touchdowns. Drew Lock’s opening start was pretty good.”
Actual final score: Broncos 38, Texans 24
Did Colin win?: Yes
Kansas City Chiefs vs. New England Patriots (-3.5)
Colin’s pick: Chiefs
Colin’s final score: Chiefs 28, Patriots 23
Cowherd said: “Rearview mirror people love New England. I’m going to take Andy Reid, Kansas City, and the points. If you look at Andy Reid and Kansas City against New England in the regular season they have been money. The Chiefs are 4-1 on the road this year. New England is a limited offense that cannot win a shootout. They have to win they won against a Dallas. If they don’t play low scoring games like they did against Philadelphia and Dallas they can’t win right now. As Lamar Jackson is exciting us, and Jimmy Garoppolo is so handsome, blah, blah, blah…has anyone looked at Patrick Mahomes stats? They are pretty good. He’s got a 108 passer rating, 65% completions, 20 touchdowns, and two interceptions. This is not a pop-gun offense. This is not going to be 17-10. Kansas City is going to win this game.”
Actual final score: Chiefs 23, Patriots 16
Did Colin win?: Yes
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Arizona Cardinals (+2.5)
Colin’s pick: Cardinals
Colin’s final score: Cardinals 24, Steelers 20
Cowherd said: “You’re going to think I’m nuts on this, I’m going Arizona +2.5. I’m always concerned about teams who are involved in huge emotional games. Pittsburgh was in a wildly emotional game with Cleveland last week and will pull back. Mike Tomlin is a road favorite out west. I’ve seen that before and don’t love him. Since Week 8, Pittsburgh can’t score. They are 24, 25, 26 in every stat that matters offensively. They are on their third quarterback. Since Week 8 they are averaging 18 points a game. Kyler Murray, throw out the Rams game, he’s given you 65% completion percentage, 95 passer rating as a rookie. He’s a very good quarterback who had an outlier awful game. Pittsburgh’s just a one side of the ball football team.
Actual final score: Steelers 23, Cardinals 17
Blazin’ 5 Week 14 record: 4-1
Blazin’ 5 overall record: 36-32-2
Blazin’ 5 record (requires winning three out of five games): 8-6
