Parx Casino is jumping on the cashless gaming bandwagon. Players at Parx Casino in Bensalem will soon be able to enjoy cashless gaming, including on the facility’s 3,000+ slot machines. Details regarding the Parx Wallet app was announced via press release.

Parx chose Sightline Payments’ Play+ as the funding solution for the new app.  Players can fund their Parx player account via a debit card or other means, eliminating the need to carry cash or wait in teller queues to cash vouchers.

Here is a closer at why Parx Casino is going cashless and how the app works.

Parx Casino players gain ‘easy access’ to funds

Parx already employs Play+ as the payments solution for betParx, their online casino and PA sports betting platform. Play+ isn’t a new player in the payments game, having partnerships with over 80 sports betting sites, lotteries, betting shops, racebooks and casinos to handle player payment accounts.

Marc Oppenheimer, Chief Marketing Officer at Parx Casino, said “The Parx Wallet will provide tremendous benefits for our loyal customer base, enhancing their safety and security.”

“The ability to play cashless across our more than 3,000 slot machines with the Parx Wallet and Play+ will provide our customers with easy access to their funds both on and off property,”  Oppenheimer said.

It is important to note that players will need a new unique account for each casino that uses Play+. In other words, players can’t directly use funds in a betParx account at the land-based casino. Parx Wallet accounts and betParx accounts are separate and not interchangeable. The same bank account or debit card can be used to fund and access your accounts at different casinos.

To make the Parx Wallet a seamless experience at the casino, Sightline Payments partnered with Light & Wonder Inc. to power the app. Light & Wonder (formerly known as Scientific Games) is dedicated to providing cross-platform gaming solutions and also provides the Casino Management System at Parx.

In a statement, Chief Client Solutions Officer at Sightline, Mandi Hart said:

“We couldn’t be more ecstatic about what we’ve been able to accomplish alongside Parx and Light & Wonder to improve the customer experience and further the digital transformation of the gaming industry.”

Parx players will need to download the Parx Wallet app and register for Parx’s X-Club loyalty program. Once that’s done, the Play+ account can be set up. As an added feature, Parx Play+ members will receive a Parx branded Discover card in the mail, which can be used to spend any winnings wherever Discover is accepted.

Parx not first PA casino to go cashless

This move makes Parx the latest to join in on the cashless trend. In PA, Penn Entertainment was the first to offer cashless gaming at its four Hollywood Casino locations in the state. Hollywood locations in Ohio, Michigan and elsewhere have also implemented cashless payments.

While security and convenience are touted as the main benefits of going cashless, responsible gambling advocates have concerns. For instance, the speed and efficiency of cashless payment apps could make it easier to spend more money with less break time to consider spending or gaming limits.

But the technology brings with it the possibility for players to have a better view of their spending amounts and gaming frequency, as the apps keep detailed records. Cashless gaming apps can employ safeguards, such as limits on the time, amount, and frequency of gaming and deposits.
