As the multi-state jackpot game Powerball stole the spotlight in recent weeks, touting a record-breaking jackpot and making dozens of lottery players a million dollars richer, the Pennsylvania Lottery’s own games didn’t miss a beat.
PA players have hit a whole slew of big prizes recently, including whopping Fast Play and Match 6 jackpots, and a number of Powerball prizes. In addition, four top scratch-off prizes of $1 million or more have been claimed already this month.
Scratch-off winners
On top of the usual smaller scratch-off prizes, PA Lottery players have cashed in $8 million worth of scratch-offs on just four tickets since Nov. 1. Two of the big winning tickets were newly released Holiday-themed scratchers. The games and prizes were:
- $1 million on We Wish You a Merry Million, sold in York County by Big Mouth On The Run, 1308 North George St., West York.
- $3 million on $3 Million Snow Bank sold in Washington County by Sheetz, 2401 Washington Road, Canonsburg.
- $1 million on Millionaire Bucks sold in Allegheny County by Mulligan’s Sports Bar & Grill, 1013 Lebanon Road, West Mifflin.
- $3 million on $3 Million Diamonds and Gold sold in Philadelphia County by L & P Express, 5520 Whitaker Avenue, Philadelphia.
As usual, the PA Lottery retailers also benefit from the big wins by receiving commission bonuses for selling the winning tickets. The $1 million-winning ticket sellers received $5,000 each and the $3 million-winning ticket sellers received $10,000 each.
Pennsylvania Lottery Fast Play and Draw game winners
On the 1st of Nov., a $20 Fast Play ticket paid out $836,765 for a lucky player in Allegheny County. The large prize was made possible by the game’s progressive jackpot. Like a Powerball jackpot, the prize keeps growing until someone wins it. The game in question, Jackpot Party, is now closed.
The winning ticket was sold at Exxon, 1700 Ferguson Road, Allison Park. The retailer received a $5,000 bonus for selling the winner.
Several other PA Lottery Fast Play games also offer progressive jackpots. Two of the games currently have jackpot prizes over $1 million. They are Fat Wallet ($30) and Fast Cash Fever ($20). Visit palottery.com to see all available games and prizes.
A player in Chester County hit an even larger progressive jackpot on a more traditional draw game. The player matched all six numbers, 12-16-21-26-43-47, in the Nov. 8 Match 6 drawing and won $2.6 million.
That big winner was sold at Mr. Bottle Beverage, 521 East Lancaster Avenue, Berwyn and earned the retailer a $10,000 bonus.
Powerball winners
Over the past month, as the Powerball jackpot grew to enormous sums, more and more players were hitting the second-tier prize of $1 or $2 million. In a big state like Pennsylvania, we’d expect to see a few second-tier winners over the stretch of 40 drawings, but it took until the final two drawings in that jackpot run to produce just three $1 million winners in the state.
In the recent world record breaking Powerball drawing on Nov. 7, there was a single $1 million winner in PA, who matched all five of the white balls drawn but not the Powerball. The lucky winner bought their ticket at Turkey Hill, 7601 Allentown Boulevard in Harrisburg, Dauphin County.
In the previous drawing on Saturday, Nov. 5, PA had two second-tier winners. Those tickets were sold at:
- Saibaba’s Aashirwad Forever, 4247 West Swamp Road, Doylestown, Bucks County, and
- GetGo, 998 Hayden Boulevard, Elizabeth, Allegheny County.
As a reminder, the Lottery doesn’t know who winners are until the prizes are claimed and the tickets are validated. In PA, Powerball, Match 6, and other draw game winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes. Scratch-off and Fast Play prizes expire one year from the game’s end sale date. If you end up with a winning ticket, the Lottery reminds you to immediately sign the back of the ticket and call the Lottery office.
