If you haven’t heard, the Pennsylvania Lottery 50th Anniversary celebration is this month. In fact, they got a jump start on celebrating late last year with a special new Scratch-Off ticket and have lots more planned to celebrate this year. The next festivity to celebrate the anniversary is fast approaching.

Anniversary celebrations abound
In December last year, the PA Lottery released their first-ever $50 Scratch-Off ticket in celebration of the golden anniversary. The $5 Million Money Maker touts the highest Top Prize of any PA Scratch-Off. In January, the first Top-Prize-winning ticket was sold in Bensalem, Bucks County. We’re excited to see what other celebrations the Lottery has planned for this year.
In a recent Lafleur’s quote of the week feature, Svitko talked about what players can look forward to in 2022.
“The Pennsylvania Lottery turns 50 in March and our modernization efforts are also underway. That includes new back- and front-office systems, replacing thousands of self-service terminals, and a lot of new tools to help us grow well into the future. We will grow our retailer network and keep providing a fun source of entertainment for our players, which helps us achieve our ultimate goal of generating proceeds for senior programs.”
Oh how the Lottery has changed
The PA Lottery was created by law in 1971 in order to fund programs for older Pennsylvanians. Ticket sales began in March of the next year. Those early days of simpler games like Super 6 have given way to even more exciting games featuring daily drawings, higher jackpots, and the ability to buy tickets and play games online.
You can play your lucky numbers on all your favorite games online at PA iLottery. That includes Powerball and Mega Millions as well as PA Lottery games. The newest online game is Electric 8’s.
