Colin Cowherd finally got the Blazin’ 5 fires burning. In Week 8, his picks went 3-2 which is his first plus .500 week of the 2021 NFL season. (Let’s stop for an applause.)

During Friday’s episode of “The Herd,” Cowherd admitted that his picks, much like what gives out for Halloween (apples), have been terrible.

Miami Dolphins vs. Buffalo Bills (-14)

Colin’s pick: Bills

Colin’s final score: Bills 36, Dolphins 20

Cowherd said:

“Generally, I hate huge numbers. They are coming off a bye and their last six games off a bye they have won all of them. In Josh Allen’s last six games versus Miami he is 6-0 and passed for 17 TDs and only 3 INTs. Their defense is the story this year and the Dolphins have a bottom five offense and the worse pass-blocking offensive line in the league. I love Buffalo this weekend.”

Actual final score: Bills 26, Dolphins 11

Tennessee Titans vs. Indianapolis Colts (-2.5)

Colin’s pick: Colts

Colin’s final score: Colts 28, Titans 23

Cowherd said:

“Colts, like ’em, I love ’em. They have won three of their last four games. Their only loss, they outplayed the Ravens in three of four quarters. Carson Wentz – 30+ points in back-to-back games. Passer rating last month was 120. Jonathan Taylor, four-straight games 100+ scrimmage yards. The Titans defense allows six yards a play. This is a much bigger game for the Colts. This is their season. If they lose, they are 0-2 against the Titans and they aren’t getting a Wild Card. I love desperate teams.”

Actual final score: Titans 34, Colts 31

New England Patriots (+4.5) vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Colin’s pick: Patriots

Colin’s final score: Patriots 27, Chargers 26

Cowherd said:

“Mac Jones is playing really well, 13 TDs last three weeks for the Patriots. The story is Justin Herbert. He faced Bill Belichick last year and lost 45-0.  The Chargers have the worst rushing defense in the league and this is Belichick’s best offensive line. I think Justin Herbert sits and watches most of the game from the sideline as the highly efficient Mac Jones offense upsets the Chargers.”

Actual final score: Patriots 27, Chargers 24

Jacksonville Jaguars (+3.5) vs. Seattle Seahawks

Colin’s pick: Jaguars

Colin’s final score: Jaguars 24, Seahawks 23

Cowherd said:

“The Jags are off a bye and the Seahawks are off a short week. Trevor Lawrence is starting to really hum, he has a 90+ passer rating in three-straight games. He is a big-play quarterback and this is a bad secondary, a shaky offensive line, and Geno Smith has not won a football game since 2016. You can say what you want about Urban Meyer, the Jags led Arizona at the half, they outplayed Denver for most of the game, they beat the Dolphins.”

Actual final score: Seahawks 31, Jaguars 7

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New Orleans Saints (+4.5)

Colin’s pick: Saints

Colin’s final score: Buccaneers 27, Saints 24

Cowherd said:

“I’m going to roll the dice here, Tampa wins but I’m going to take the Saints +4.5. Little revenge for Jamies against his old team, he’s kind of been humiliated and humbled. The teams that have won Monday night are 6-0 their following game this year. Jamies isn’t being asked to do to much. The Saints defense is Top 3 and they are at home. Gronk and Antonio Brown still aren’t healthy. I think this is ugly and the Saints keep it close.

Actual final score: Saints 36, Buccaneers 27

Cowherd’s Week 8 Blazin’ 5 record: 3-2
