Before making his NFL Week 7 picks, Colin Cowherd admitted on The Herd that he was struggling with his Blazin’ 5 picks.

“I’ve not gotten off to a great start. I’ve been doing this for 20 years and I hit about 57% which is what pro betters make. Last year with COVID, I struggled. This year I stink. I don’t know what the reason is. I’m doing a lot of voodoo at home.”

Despite being less confident he still said he “loved” the Philadelphia Eagles to pull an upset on the road against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Eagles lost 33-22 and Derek Carr had the second-highest completion percentage in NFL history.

Through seven weeks, Cowherd has yet to post a plus .500 record.

Cincinnati Bengals (+6.5) vs. Baltimore Ravens

Colin’s pick: Bengals

Colin’s final score: Ravens 30, Bengals 27

Cowherd said:

“Analytics matter, especially on defense. The Bengals defense gives up 18 ppg, that’s fifth-best in the league. Analytically, they are a top 3-to-4 run defense. We know they can score. Joe Burrow is top six and completion percentage, passer rating. Ja’Marr Chase is a home run. Four of the Ravens last six games have been decided by one possession. Three of their last five wins have come on the last drive of the game. The Ravens have played three straight, highly emotional games. My daughter is going to be at this game.”

Actual final score: Bengals 41, Ravens 17

Carolina Panthers (-2.5) vs. New York Giants

Colin’s pick: Panthers

Colin’s final score: Panthers 26, Giants 20

Cowherd said:

“The Panthers defense is excellent. It forces you three-and-out 38% of the time, the highest in the league. They are also 2nd on third down percentage. The Giants are physically a disaster. Saquan Barkely, Kenny Golloday, Sterling Shepard….probably all out. The Giants are also worse at home. This is going to be an ugly, low-scoring game but I trust Carolina to win by more than three.

Actual final score: Giants 25, Panthers 3

Philadelphia Eagles (+3) vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Colin’s pick: Eagles

Colin’s final score: Eagles 24, Raiders 23

Cowherd said:

“Like it, I love it…I love the Eagles +3. Their offense is average three yards before contact…what does that mean – good 0-line They average 5.2 yards-per-carry…what does that mean…good o-line and they get Lane Johnson, their best offensive lineman back. Jalen Hurts has 3.1 seconds to throw per-pass. I love the Eagles healthy o-line dominating time-of-possession against the Raiders defense front. The Eagles defense is not terrible. It has played pretty well and has good corners. The Raiders defense is a mess.”

Actual final score: Raiders 33, Eagles 22

Chicago Bears vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-12.5)

Colin’s pick: Buccaneers

Colin’s final score: Buccaneers 33, Bears 17

Cowherd said:

“I hate big numbers but for Chicago to win they have to run the ball. They have a terrible o-line and you can’t run on Tampa. Justin Fields is last in everything passing. He’s been sacked 16 times in his last four starts. There is a reason the line is big.”

Actual final score: Buccaneers 38, Bears 3

Did Colin Cowherd win? Yes

Indianapolis Colts vs. San Francisco 49ers (-4)

Colin’s pick: 49ers

Colin’s final score: 49ers 30, Colts 23

Cowherd said:

“The line has moved in our favor. The Niners offense coaches are great off a bye. They are the only team with a losing record who have outgained their opponent. This is a good team who can’t get the quarterback healthy and now he is healthy. Garropollo since 2017 is 24-10. Now the Colts are banged up and their defense is giving up six yards a play..”

Actual final score: Colts 30, 49ers 18

Did Colin Cowherd win? No
