Maybe he should call it the “room temperature 5” instead of the Blazin’ 5. Through six weeks, Colin Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 has yet to have a winning record.

Week 6 was his worst yet, as he finished an awful 1-4.

Cowherd on Jalen Hurts

After making his Week 6 picks against the spread, Cowherd interviewed former Philadelphia Eagle Seth Joyner. Cowherd, who “isn’t quite ready to bail on Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts quite yet” asked Joyner for his insights.

On Hurts Joyner said:

“I like the kid but I think he’s at a disadvantage because his head coach is making him just pass the ball. They ran the ball one time in the first half. How do you ask him to line up in shotgun 95% of the time and just throw without using Miles Sanders to his benefit.”

Colin Cowherd’s 2021 Week 6 NFL picks

The Herd with Colin Cowherd is a sports talk radio show on Fox Sports Radio and Fox Sports 1. Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 airs Fridays on The Herd at 1 p.m. EST.

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Baltimore Ravens (-2.5)

Colin’s pick: Ravens

Colin’s final score: Ravens 32, Chargers 27

Cowherd said:

“One of my stronger plays of the week. Lamar Jackson is explosive and his passing has been Top Five in key categories – yards, completions, big pass plays. He leads the NFL with 1800 total yards. It will come down to running. The Chargers defense is not great and they are atrocious against the run. The Ravens are one of the more explosive run teams. I think they dominate dominate time-of-possession.”

Did Colin Cowherd win?: Yes

Actual final score: Ravens 34, Chargers 6

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Detroit Lions (+3.5)

Colin’s pick: Lions

Colin’s final score: Lions 26, Bengals 23

Cowherd said:

“Like it, I love it. These are the hard luck kids. They are playing their butts off and losing close. The Lions are the first team in NFL history to lose multiple games on field goals over 50+ as time expired. Their defense is getting people off the field on third down. Cincinnati has 85 first downs, the fourth-fewest in the league. They are not good enough to give up 3.5-half points on the road against anybody. And I like Joe Burrow. But in eight road starts he has one win.”

Did Colin Cowherd win?: No

Actual final score: Bengals 34, Lions 11

Arizona Cardinals vs. Cleveland Browns (-3.5)

Colin’s pick: Browns

Colin’s final score: Browns 33, Cardinals 26

Cowherd said:

“Nick Chubb is out but I don’t think it affects the line because Kareem Hunt is the best backup running back in the league. Cleveland is one of three teams that has outgained every team they’ve played. They just don’t close well. Their rushing offense is No. 1 in everything. Their defense is getting better. This comes down to the matchup. Arizona struggles against the run. Kyler Murray is going to be watching Baker Mayfield. Big time-of-possession edge to Cleveland takes away opportunities for big plays.”

Did Colin Cowherd win?: No

Actual final score: Cardinals 37, Browns 14

Dallas Cowboys vs. New England Patriots (+3.5)

Colin’s pick: Patriots

Colin’s final score: Cowboys 26, Patriots 24

Cowherd said:

“You may wait on this, there may be more Cowboy money coming in and it may more to 4. Dallas doesn’t have much of a pass rush. We have enough on Mac Jones to know he is efficient without facing a pass rush. People are throwing on Dallas 70% of the time. They have the second-worst pass defense.”

Did Colin Cowherd win?: No

Actual final score: Cowboys 35, Patriots 29

Pittsburgh Steelers (-5.5) vs. Seattle Seahawks

Colin’s pick: Steelers

Colin’s final score: Steelers 28, Seahawks 20

Cowherd said:

“This feels obvious to me. The number was better earlier. Seattle has a backup quarterback, has to travel across the country, and try to score against an excellent defense. Geno Smith has not started since 2017. The Steelers have gone 36 straight games without allowing 30 or more points. The Seahawks defense ranks last in ypg. allowed, 30th for pass ypg. allowed, and 31st for rush ppg. allowed. Last week the Steelers found a running game and they have star receivers.”

Did Colin Cowherd win?: No

Actual final score: Steelers 23, Seahawks 20

Cowherd’s Week 6 Blazin’ 5 record: 1-4

Colin Cowherd 2021 Blazin’ 5 overall record: 11-15-1
