It’s been a subpar start to the 2021 NFL season for Colin Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5. In Week 2, his record mirrored Week 1, as he went 2-3.

Despite ripping both teams in his season-long predictions, Cowherd picked the Philadelphia Eagles (+3) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (-6.5) to cover. The Eagles lost 17-11 and the Steelers were upset by the Raiders.

What Cowherd said about the Steelers after Week 1

Cowherd after the Steelers 23-16 win over the Bills:

“The Steelers think I am always picking on them. Pittsburgh is so good in the defensive front seven. They will completely disrupt you. Big Ben averaged 5.9 per attempt. He is not accurate or efficient. He looked old. They can’t run the ball. What are they going to look like in Week 17? I don’t see the traits. It’s going to win them 8 or 9 games.”

What Cowherd said about the Steelers after Week 1

Cowherd tweeted:

“Can’t believe I’m saying this but …. The Eagles have look so good today. Buttoned up. Sharp. I need to sleep on this. My world has been turned upside down.”

“My belief in betting is to take points, especially if you have a confident quarterback. Fan’s belief is to take favorites. This week was a weird week. If you looked at the initial lines, I liked almost every favorite. I almost never take all favorites.”

New Orleans Saints vs. Carolina Panthers (-3.5)

Colin’s pick: Panthers

Colin’s final score: Panthers 28, Saints 23

Cowherd said:

“This is the Saints second straight road game. They are living out of hotels. The Matt Rhule effect, since the start of last year Carolina has had the fewest three-and-outs in the NFL with Bridgewater and Darnold. This is a really well-coached offensive team. They run it and don’t let you run it.”

Actual final score Panthers 26, Saints 7

Los Angeles Rams vs. Indianapolis Colts (+3.5)

Colin’s pick: Colts

Colin’s final score: Colts 27, Rams 26

Cowherd said:

“You know my rule, well-coached good teams that play like crap always bounce back. Colts were awful last week. Jonathan Taylor has topped 100 yards from scrimmage in five of his last seven games. How do you beat the Rams? You take the Ball out of Sean McVeigh’s hands. This offensive line was pushed around last week and rebound. The Colts have lost eight straight Week 1 games. They’ve won Week 2 in each of the last three seasons.”

Actual final score: Rams 27, Colts 24

Did Colin win? Yes

San Francisco 49ers vs. Philadelphia Eagles (+3)

Colin’s pick: Eagles

Colin’s final score: Eagles 24, 49ers 23

Cowherd said:

“This is an interesting game, you know I was down on Philadelphia. But Philadelphia is at home for the opener. Mobile quarterbacks have given the Niners trouble through the years. Jalen Hurts moves around. The Eagles defense against the high-powered Falcons totally shut them down. They couldn’t move the chains with a veteran quarterback, star tight end, star wide receiver and good o-line. Philadelphia was 3-for-3 in the Red Zone. The line play for the Eagles was the secret sauce last week. The Niners lost their best cornerback for the year and it looks like the Eagles have a couple stars at wide receiver. Upset.”

Actual final score 49ers 17, Eagles 11

Did Colin win? No

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (-6.5)

Colin’s pick: Steelers

Colin’s final score: Steelers 30, Raiders 23

Cowherd said:

“You know I don’t like big numbers but like it…I love it. Short week for the Raiders and they have to travel across the country. The defense in Week 1 was relentless against an offensive line that’s as least as good or better than the Raiders. No quarterback in the league struggles more under pressure than Derek Carr and Matt Ryan. Carr was 1-9 with a pick. The relentless Steelers defense will own the Raiders. This is my favorite bet of the week.”

Actual final score Raiders 26, Steelers 17

Did Colin win? No

Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Chargers (-3.5)

Colin’s pick: Chargers

Colin’s final score: Chargers 33, Dallas 27

Cowherd said:

“The sharps like the Cowboys. Yes, Dallas will probably be the home team. Dallas has multiple injuries up front. In the backend of the secondary, multiple injuries. They didn’t sack Brady and they only got two hits on him. Justin Herbert against a better defensive front was unbelievable on third down. With more time to throw and a worse secondary…I like the Chargers. The Chargers are on a 5-game winning streak. The Cowboys are 0-17 since 2019 scoring less than 30 points.I don’t think they are going to have the ball enough.”

Actual final score Cowboys 20, Chargers 17

Did Colin win? No
