Is Colin Cowherd’s Blazin’ 5 heating up?
He posted his first winning record since Week Three.
Cowherd rode the favorites and the unbeaten Pittsburgh Steelers to a 3-2 Week Seven record. His “Boom Bet” fell short when the Arizona Cardinals upset the Seattle Seahawks in overtime.
When he made the picks, Cowherd said:
“I am generally not someone who takes favorites, but the league is changing and there is more offense. Gotta move around. The Rams pick, most of the wise guys in Vegas probably hate it, but I think Chicago lacks juice.”
His prognostication proved to be correct as the Chicago Bears fell flat on Monday Night Football.

Green Bay Packers (-3.5) vs. Houston Texans
Cowherd’s pick: Packers
Colin’s final score: Packers 40, Texans 23
Cowherd said:
“Favorite pick of the week. I like good teams who get humiliated on national TV games. They are focused, and they’ll play great this week. The Packers have two turnovers all year, both against Tampa’s defense. The Texans’ defense is horrific. They’ve given up more big plays than any NFL defense this year. Packers hammer the Texans. “
Actual final score: Packers 35, Texans 20
Did Colin win? Yes
Pittsburgh Steelers (+2) vs. Tennessee Titans
Colin’s pick: Steelers
Colin’s final score: Steelers 28, Titans 23
Cowherd said:
“I have a rule: Take a really good team getting points. I’m taking the Steelers to win. The Titans have two big issues. Their left tackle Taylor Lewan is out, and you do not want to be missing a Pro Bowl-level left tackle against the Steelers. The Titans are last in the NFL on third down defense. They don’t have a pass rush and teams extend drives. Big Ben is having an extraordinary season — his best completion percentage, passer rating and touchdown to INT ratio.”
Actual final score: Steelers 27, Titans 24
Did Colin win? Yes
Carolina Panthers vs. New Orleans Saints (-7.5)
Colin’s pick: Saints
Colin’s final score: Saints 30, Panthers 23
Cowherd said:
“That’s a hook number. Everybody usually likes the team getting 7.5. I like veteran quarterbacks and great coaches off a bye. They are 3-1 in those games. Drew Brees is completing 71% of this throws and leads the NFL. Carolina’s defense has five sacks, fewest in the NFL. The Saints have a had a couple of weeks to prepare for Teddy Bridgewater, a quarterback they practiced against for years. Carolina is getting better but is limited defensively.”
Actual final score: Saints 27, Panthers 24
Did Colin win? No
Seattle Seahawks (-3.5) vs. Arizona Cardinals
Boom Bet: $20 bet pays $50 — Russell Wilson has two or more passing TDs and Seahawks to win
Colin’s pick: Seahawks
Colin’s final score: Seahawks 34, Cardinals 24
Cowherd said:
“Seattle off a bye is 4-0. Arizona, a young inconsistent team, is on a short week. A young team who beat the Dallas Cowboys everyone is telling ‘You the man!’ Russell Wilson has owned no team in the NFL like Arizona. He’s played them eight times and only lost once, and it was his first NFL start.”
Actual final score: Cardinals 37, Seahawks 34
Did Colin win? No
Chicago Bears vs. Los Angeles Rams (-6)
Colin’s pick: Rams
Colin’s final score: Rams 28, Bears 20
Cowherd said:
“I’m the last living American who likes the Rams. Chicago is limited offensively. We thought when they got Nick Foles they would be better. The problem is he’s has one or more interception in five straight games. That’s the longest stretch in the NFL. The Bears’ offense is 27th in PPG and 28th in total YPG, yards per play and rush YPG. The Rams’ defense is better than people think. They’ve moved Jalen Ramsey all over the field. I know no one likes Jared Goff, but he has the highest passer rating of anyone in the fourth quarter. I think it’s a close, ugly game.”
Actual final score: Rams 24, Bears 10
Did Colin win? Yes
